Hi all- its been a while since I've posted in here... I've got a question for the moms with sons that are married and have finished RSS... When they get their orders for FRAC, do you know if they are "accompanied" orders? Meaning, do they move the spouse to be with them? I have always been told that if a sailor is going to be at a training command in a student status for 6 consecutive months or longer ( one class has to be 6 months with no breaks ) then they will pay for the spouse/ family to move with them. But then I was told just a few days ago that they do NOT move the spouse to FRAC, just to the ultimate duty station afterwards. Anyone know about this? Btw- hubby graduates RSS in two weeks... Just trying to get my ducks in a row just in case we have to move ourselves after A school across country, lol.
The3Cs - soo good to see you.. Im sorry that I do not have that answer for you but Im sure that someone on here will be able to help you. Congrats on his getting this far! KEWL! Does he know if he is Sierra or Romeo.. he should know by now. So that will by you some more time to find out.. as he will prob be on hold for his A school for a little while once through RSS... keep us posted because that is a good question to know! Yes be ready just in case!
Lydia- he doesn't know yet about Sierra or Romeo. His original class that graduates tomorrow, just found out that they are all Romeo, yesterday. He's in his third week no, so maybe by then end of next week we will know. When your son got his orders while he was in A-school, did he get his orders for the permanent station too? I heard that they give them the orders for frac, and they tell them the perm duty station at the same time. Do they happen to stay at the same place that they do frac at?
The3Cs - NO he will not know perm duty until almost done with FRS.. my son grad FRS in November and hopes to know his assignment in Octoberish... It is a waiting game I know and can be frustrating! Some will stay in California yes.. but they can be stationed anywhere in the world that we have bases or ships. Ex. my son is hoping for Guam or Baharian but will not know for a few more months. Now this is Sierra... Romeo might be a little different but I know that they will not know until near their final graduation.
Okay mommas, wives... this is the one I meant to share... It shows a lot of what your kids / hubbys etc are doing and will be doing.... very very very kewl..!!!!!!! hooooooyaaaaaaaaaa Go Navy Go RSS
Well my son should be graduating tomorrow, sending prayers and good thoughts his way, he was bummed to find out that he is Romeo as he wanted Sierra but I know that he will do well no matter what. He is ready to move on to the next part of training.
YAY! RSS Graduation tomorrow- woo hoo! Let the next phase begin... Good luck to everyone that is in class this week and to those that class up on Monday.
WOW !!! Congratulations on thursdays graduates and their loved ones...soooo exciting....
Good Luck to everyone who is persevering...will keep prayers going for all...
That video is so amazing...I have seen it several times and I haven't gotten through it without crying yet...the words to the song get me every time.....
ochoas - well, Romeo is awesome too tho... they get a lot of excellent training and at least will not be so combate oriented.. so that makes a momma feel better Im sure! hahah..... congrats to that boy!
Rox - yippie I was hoping you would come by and say HI! A school for Romeo is about twice as long as for Sierra... Sierra is more combate and Romeo more technical warfare... So it will depend on if T is Romeo or Sierra.... Ill suspicion but could be wrong that he will be Sierra.... but only he will know for sure in about a week.. So after RSS grad they go on hold for Aschool. B was on hold for about 5 weeks....before he classed up A school. My B was Sierra and school was about two months if I rememeber correctly... Romeo is about twice that long at least.
Navymom - I know I want that song... but I dont know who sings it or id go buy the CD immediately!!!!!!
Lydia, that is my ALL TIME FAVORITE video! I can feel the intensity of their training and importance of their job, tissue alert. Proud Proud Momma here!
Congrats to all of today's graduates!! So proud of my son! Wish that I could have been there to see him. Hopefully in Feb I might get to stop and say "Hi".
To me it does not matter which platform he gets as I know he will do well no matter where he is, Romeo is just not his first choice. He told me that he would be in P'cola for about another 9 months, so he will try to take leave to come home for a visit.
My husband didn't pass his test today so he got pushed back :( I am not sure what test it was but the class he was in was on 3rd week. He will find out tmrw when he will class back up to the next RSS class. He said he got nervous and made a stupid mistake.
NavyWife... not to worry honey ... this happens more times than not... just keep him pumped up... God has a plan.. .perhaps he is not meant to be the platform that this class will grad?? we never know... we just trust pray encourage and be the cheerleader!!! He will roll back and start again in a few weeks.. he will get it and be stellar... you tell him that!!! Stupid mistakes are always what does it and he will do fine next time... you just hooooyaaaa to him and he will be fine sista... more guys who roll pass that not... but you must keep us up on it...
ochaos... It is long hard training .. .but Ill bet you after its all over ... he will be stoked that he is Romeo... great that he can come home!!! super!! hang in there.. he will love it in the long run!
Kyles... I know... I get all blubbery when I watch it.!! especially since my B is almost done with his pipeline... I gotta get that music CD........
Sorry Navywife, but i swear these boys are meant to be together. We;ve been waiting all week to see which class J goes back into. But I have shared the stories other moms have said about it happening to their sons and being for the better, with J and he is encouraged and hopeful. Congrats to those who graduated yesterday!!
Thanks everyone. Yes Mama B...I think you are right. They are meant to be together! I think everything happens for a reason. My J said he is going to take the next two weeks to get his mind straight and he will be fine :) He was down about it yesterday but he kept trying to see the positive out of the situation. He is such a strong man that is why I love him :) At least this was your J and my J will be together and hopefully graduate together. They work so hard and deserve the best!
Another test today. The class didn't score as high as they have been. My son got the second highest score in the class with an 85%. The good news is that everyone still passed. So when do they start doing things other than studying in FRS?
Kevin - my B is starting to fly now this week.. so after about what ummm week 4 or 5 they do a jump the another week of study then they have to complete I think he said 24 different flights and jumps.. so he will be busy in the air soon! My B is tied for top of class right now with 95 so he wants to do really good on his flights and jumps... makes me sooo nervous!
The3 and Sara - hahahah... yall are neighbors and both with hubbys in RSS?? very kewl!
Then sounds like he sound be getting to jump sometime soon then. He just finished week 4, and he did say they were a little behind, so maybe another week or two hopefully.
Hello everyone! I have only posted on here a couple times because my Sailor was at RTC and I had no clue what you all were talking about lol Well now he's in Pensacola, waiting to class up for aircrew candidate school. He has a looong ways to go in his journey, but I'm feeling great about it! Just thought I'd say hello :)
HI CALLIEJEAN :) my sailor is waiting to class up too... the way i see it is they can keep them on hold as long as they feel, more time in Florida with him hehe.
CallieJean and Lyndsi, welcome! There's a section above in the "Discussion Forum" that describes the Path of a Rescue Swimmer. It has a lot of good info that's helpful.
My son is a PIR graduate of 2009 and is through the program and with his squadron. However, I've learned one can never say that training is finished because it's ongoing.
Good Morning all! Its been a while since I have posted. I hope everyone is doi ng well. Hope this hot & humid weather isn't going to get their training in too much of a damper. During this time of the year does any one have an opinion on if they normally experience many "black out" days? Thx.
hooooyaaaaa Callie and Lyndsi!!! welcome welcome!!!
Yes a long difficult pipeline froth with stress and lots of prayers!! but you go lots of support here!!!! Like Ms... lovely Texas Mom said... check our the Discussion Forum and then anything else just give a holler..... My boy B is going to finish FRS... in November... so we are allllllmost done with this part but like Texas said... it really never ends and neither does your worry or concern!!! So hang in here with all of us!!!!!
onboard... great to see you ummmmm what do you mean blackout day?? All I do know is that they train rain , hail, sleet, snow, ... you mean like rolling black outs cause of heat??? sorry not sure what you are asking =0P
My son C just classed up to Starboard D! He said he should be starting RSS in a couple of weeks hopefully and so will begin our 5 weeks of nervousness and lots and lots of blue candle burning and prayer!! Hoo yah Air Crew! Hoo yah Rescue Swimmers! These boys are all such an inspiration!
Lydia- Yes, that is what I was referring to; does it seem that there are numerous black out days which prevent training during these days cause of the heat & humidity. Or does training take these issues into account and train around the heat & humidity. Thanks.
Hi there Callie Jean and Lyndsi!!!! Hi there to everyone. Have a good week eveeryone.
Welcome Callie & Lyndsi-lots of great support here and prayer warriors to help you get through the pipeline with your sailors. Just let us know your questions or prayer needs.
onboard.. They their instructors will take all things into consideration. They dont want any kids passing out from heat stroke. I have not heard my son say anything about it.. Ill have to ask him. I do know that when he was going through the candidate schools in Pcola that they stayed very hydrated at all times especially when doing the outdoor PT... and in addition my son would keep Gatoraide on hand for evenings.
rakk - Very kewl!!!! Congrats to your son... he is on the way!!
Yall on the East coast please be vigilant.. the last hurricane we had here in Texas... everyone knew exactly where she was coming in days before she hit us... they elected to stay.. Bolovar Penninsula in Galveston... they ALL died! ALL - nothing was left nothing - not one house not one soul... please use common sense! God speed! hooyaaa to our fleet who has removed her assets from VA in preparation.
My son (the wierdo) has never been in a hurricane before and is excited to be experiencing his first. I would be happy if I went my whole life without having to experience either a hurricane or a tornado. Sure hope he doesn't do anything stupid like try to go out in it!
Kevinhmom I'm right there with you! Mine says they cant leave until they get orders. Don't know........ I think they are excited and testosterone has kicked in and they aren't thinking!!! I just hope they stay inside. Having faith that momma Navy will evacuation them if they need to. They have invested too much in their training
hummmmmmmmmmm... well last night I asked my B who yall know is in SD... he said all his RSS buddies in VA were evacuated?? soo... perhaps it was voluntary at that point yesterday... I dunno... but Im sure that the Navy will NOT as Kyles said.... allow any bulls**t from these Sailors... they will remove them from harms way at any cost... soo .. Im thinking that orders might come soon .. all I know is my boy said his buddies evacuated yesterday.. my sister in law is Commanding Officer (E-6 Commander CO of the medical facility at Bethesda)... Ill try to call her tonight to see the status of the evacs and Ill let yall know... sheesh... not fun at all! uggg ..
Sista in law said the Navy will take care of her boys and girls not to worry... they are safer on base than anywhere... so other than loss of comm... they will be okay... Godspeed !
As of yesterday, my son was not evacuated. Said the plan was to stay in his barracks. So far no word from him this morning, but sounds like I may not be hearing from him this weekend.
My son lives in Virginia Beach. They were not given orders to evacuate. He and his other Virginia Beach buddies have gone to Norfolk (thankfully) and are staying with a friend there. He just texted me and said it's raining "cats and dogs."
so got a brief text this morning. Did not get food & water "just in case", but did make sure his phone & ipod were charged up "just in case". His priorities are in order at least, LOL.
