Hello all! Thanks very much for all the kind wishes, things are moving along. Kipper is still at the vet, I visited him today and I feel he was happy to see me! We still dont know if he's going to be OK, but I hope so!
Anyone have recommendations where to stay, etc in Norfolk? I'm so excited, we are going to visit in October! It will be great to see our Rescue Swimmer, havent since Christmas.

Yes....My hubby, Roxanne's son, and Mama B's son all passed! So they are going to graduate together on Thursday! It's great...they are roomies and went through this journey together! Roxanne I am friends with Mama B on facebook. I send you a private msg on here with our names so you can add us. I am going to get pics of your son for you on thurs!

Found out yesterday that my son classed up for RSS. He reports tomorrow. He wouldn't admit it but I can tell he's a little nervous. This is something that he has wanted for so long. I pray that it is Gods will for him to get through this!! Does anyone else have someone starting this week?
Kyles-so glad you get to visit with your sailor in Oct. I am going to visit Norfolk in November to spend thanksgiving with mine. I was there in June and we stayed in the Navy Lodge which is just down the street from the base. While we are there, we also found out abut a hotel that is on the base that we are going to try out in November. It is about the same price as Navy lodge but the only one that can reserve at that hotel is Navy personnel, so your son would have make the reservations for you. The pictures of the hotel look fine, but I heard from someone in the Norfolk group that it is not that great a place to stay. So I'll see for myself I guess.

My B was doing one of his 24 chopper required flights day before yesterday.. and a bird hit the chopper. They had to take it back to base... sheeeesh that scared the bird poop out of me... So yall see this worry does not end and your prayer life will increase a hundred fold!
wendypcolamom, My son is in week 3 of rss, alot of praying going on! Attention to detail, he has to stay focused the game is for the instructors to have them second guessing themselves! Be strong, focused and determined!!!!!
Navywife... was he happy with that?? Most want Sierra.. but I think Romeo is great tooo... less combate and more technology.. for a mom or wife hahah that is more comforting!!!! Guess that means that Rox and the rest also will be Romeo... usually the class will all go one or the other.... soooo congrats to him and you sweetie!!! hoooooooooooyaaaaaaaaaaaaaa graduating RSS class....
Well he wanted Sierra....but only 4 boys got it in his class out of 17. So the rest got Romeo. But overall we are seeing the positive in it! With Romeo...the A school is longer...so we will be in Pensacola a lot longer. But we will have more time together before he hits the fleet and gets deployed. So we are happy overall!

Nice picture Navywife. I wish I could have gone to my son's graduation when he graduated RSS. It will probably be one of my bigger regrets that I couldn't make it out.
What is the ceremony like is it very short? Are there other graduation ceremonies through this entire process? Is there a winging ceremony at the end???
The graduation is not that long. Its prob lasted 15-20 mins. But before the graduation started, they let you walk around with your sailor and take pictures of everything. They show you what they go through everyday. Then after graduation they get liberty early, so they can hang out with you the rest of the day :)
Back from graduation, took two days of hanging out in the airport but it was worth it to see my boy!
Lydia - your right about Romeo being less combative. I asked him if he was disappointed about his assignment and he said "you know mom, how could I be after making it through this". Apparently RSS is the 3rd hardest school in all the military.
After the SHORT ceremony they had to go to one of the classrooms for a briefing, which we were allowed to attand and Roxanne's son was given permission to sing this silly song that had us all in stitches!
Mama B, Glad to know T is still the same guy who left here in 7/7/10, singing and having fun. He always makes us laugh. Thanks to you and NavywifeApril, I get to enjoy the graduation too.

What a precious soul !!!! I havent been on here for a bit and as I started reading back a few pages I got a txt from my son...As I continued to read the posts on here, I suddenly got the feeling your son was my guys friend...I txtd back to my son and sure enough he confirmed my thoughts AND he said he just got off the phone with your son....sooooo funny....my son is almost half way through A school...he got Romeo...
NavymomGG, Very cool! What are your son's initial's, although I have not met him, I bet T has talked about him. I always ask question about the guys? Hey yall.... not to put anyone on the spot... but.... My 60 boys in Afganistan need sheets... we (American Legion Riders) just sent them 10 care packages and 6 boxes of blankets... they need sheets badly... if anyone might feel in their hearts to help us out... we would appreciate it... they need full size sheets.. Our Care Package Fund Raiser is this coming Saturday but Im worried cause the economy makes ppl not dig so deep into their pockets for our troops... they just figure that Uncle Sam takes care of them NOT!!!!! especially the kids out in the desert of Afga... so.... if anyone wants to mail me a or some full size sheets or even a donation.. we would be grateful... Im not sure if it is okay to ask this... but I think it is.... Im not advertising anything for me... this is for our boys and girls... I always think to myself.... Lord what if this were my Boy B....
