Wendypcolamom, I know my son was rolled then went on to finish RSS and is now in A school 5th week.  As long as he perseveres he will make it, they do try to get them to DOR. As Lydia said a weeding out process.  Praying for your son and the other guys in RSS.

NavymomGG, Hi how are you? Our sons are so funny, did you ask how many free meals T,R and C ate on Veterans day.  I know he will miss C when he graduates.

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

Lydia-sorry to hear about your son's injury.  My son had a mishap and is off schedule and now is not sure if he will graduate with his class.  But as we have said many time here,  whenever he graduates it will be God's plan and therefore the right time and with the right people.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

AIRR - Oh thank you so much!!!

mom2four....  my son learned about 3/4 weeks before A school grad..  so he should know pretty soon.

CaliMom..  gosh whats up with these kids !!?????  Well, Gods best and perfect timing!!1

wendy... he will be stellar!!  We will keep our prayers up.. let us know when he will roll back in...

sweatpea...  kewl,,, I thought he was still on hold... did he just start??  gosh my memory is terrible!!!

  • sweetpea4

Lydia, wishing your Son a speedy recovery, prayers coming his way!! This is the first week of A school. I am waiting on friends to get their care packages together then I'll get out to you. Hopefull over the weekend I get it complete. Hope all is well and  Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

sweetpea...  your and your friends are going to be a blessing for some soldiers!!  Im glad your boy is not on hold now but heading on into that pipeline.  Thank you my B said he feels pretty good!

HEY....  any body got any unusual (but not too hard) Thanksgiving receipes??  Or and good Christmas cookies receipes????

My super duper easy but my kids LOVE it Christmas (or any time really) cookie is

Just get the Hershey semi sweet morsals and follow the Toll House cookies receip (always use real butter in them not margarine) and then when you add the morsals........  well take about 6 small candy canes and crush them up with your rolling pin in a baggie....  then add the crushed candy canes to the mix...  if you want you can add about 8 canes... I like a bit more in mine but you can do either...  depending on if you double the receipe like I do or not....... HUGS RSS ladies!!!!!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Oh and dont crush them to powder you some little chuncks in there.

AIRR - check your message box...

  • NavyMom93 (DIV: 823)

Good morning to all! My son PIR'd a week ago today and is now in FL for A-School. I haven't heard from him yet. I know he's there and who his roommate is only because I'm friends with his mom. I feel like I'm back in the first weeks of boot camp and just sitting and waiting on a call or letter or something to let me know what he's doing. Is it normal to not hear from them for a little while after they get there? I only got to spend 3 1/2 hours with him after PIR because he volunteered for watch duty so the other sailors would have time with their families. I just want to hear that he's ok. I know I sound pretty desperate and I apologize for that. Warm Hugs to all!

  • sweetpea4

My Son was on hold for 6 weeks once he got to Pensacola. They have to earn back their liberty.. Seems like the first week was just like bootcamp very restrictive.

  • NavyMom93 (DIV: 823)

Thank you sweetpea4. I feel a little better now.

  • sweetpea4

NavyMom93 he will be just fine. They all make friends real fast! We are all in this together, hold on and enjoy the ride! You will be so proud of your Sailor!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Skimom - If you mean AIRR... or Rescue Swimmer... we have Tam here with a daughter there....  yall should message each other and talk!  maybe get the girls together..  or perhaps they already know each other...  but the first hold they go on is NACCS the RSS then A-school...  has your daughter already gone through and passed NACCS and RSS you mention she is on hold for A-school??????  Welcome and HUGS!!!!!

NavymomG - Oh dear me...  now two Navymoms..  hahahahah   Ill try not to confuse yall!!!   Anywooo  yea he will going to hook back up with R and B...  awesome!!!!

NavyMom93 - AWESOME  - you better hang in right here with us cause your rollercoaster ride is just starting!  They are super busy like SWEETPEA and TAM said and they do make friends fast but they dont get a lot of down time when they are first there to do a lot of calling but if he has his cell phone he is allowed to call after 1600 hours I think I remember my son telling me.  You also said your son is on hold for A-School...

HAVE YALL NEW LADIES GONE up to the discussion forum up above this and click on VIEW ALL and I think on page two it is ... I put a good summary on the pipeline of the Rescue Swimmer and their Candidate schools etc are listed..  It is great information which will eliminate a lots of your questions and sometimes we are the last to know what they are doing....  So yall new ladies pop up there and check that discussion out...  there are other good ones up there toooo!!!!!!  Yall please keep us posted of your Sailors cause if they are Rescue Swimmer... it is a long road and we are here for you all the way!!!!!!!

Gosh we are getting a lot in here now...  Im gonna have to start taking notes so I do get confused..    We have a lots of us whose kids are just about to graduate their Rescue Swimmer Pipeline hallelujah and some who are in A-school,,,  some who are just getting there and some who are heading for RSS...  Wonderful!!!!!   HUGS

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

NavymomG.. soo very true!!!!!    yes we actually have had a few moms of females..  they however did go a different direction but they were sooo awesome and such an asset to the navy..  hey Navy chicks ROCK justsayin!!!  hehehe

    HUGS everyone!!!!

  • NavyMom93 (DIV: 823)

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement. They really do help. They got there, my guess would be sometime last Friday. Not sure of more than that. I promise to hang in there, lol. After all, I'm a Navy Mom and darn proud of it, even if I loose it sometimes. Have a great evening and warm hugs to all.

  • sweetpea4

This is a wonderful support group!  It is nice to lean on one another!

  • NavyMom93 (DIV: 823)

My son thought it was already scary that I knew so much of what was going on during bootcamp. Alas, I had to give up my source and his reaction was wonderful. He thinks this site is great, even though he's never seen it, simply because as he says "We're all in this together as one big family. You can't shoulder it all alone."

I read what Lydia suggested and it helped knowing everything he's going to be doing. Definately suggested reading for new AIRR parents.

I look forward to getting to know all of you better and watching each and every one of our sailors spread their wings and fly. Warm Hugs.

  • roxanne

NavymomGG, T is doing ok, struggling at times with the 12hr days of class and then having to stay over to study..He is hanging in there thanks to his buddies.  When does C graduate? Think T will be halfway through by then.

Great to have lots of new Moms and Moms of daughters too-excellent, as Navymom GG said you must be proud.  Well we all are. They are a great group of young men and women, very refreshing to see such patriotism.

    Hug to all, Happy Friday!!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

    Good Morning beautiful powerful women!!!

I say that cause the hardest job is being a military momma (or wife) you have to be stronger than most to endure it!  To keep a smile on when you want to frown, to laugh when you want to cry, to have peace when you are paralyzed with fear...  yup... we definately need each other...  I have been on this site now for over a year almost year and a half and man oh man I could never have made it with out those who have gone ahead of me on here to help!!!!

Navymom93..  but here is a scary story about N4M and BC - which is why I always say... WATCH WHAT U SAY.....  okay so after about 6 week of BC my son had a good rappor with the Master Chief..  he really like him.. so anyway.. one day my son was going by the Ship 4 Div 818 officers office.. and they called him in....   "Hey M.....  I did not know your mom road a motorcycle...!!!  Yes sir.. how did you know..   Come here and look at this....."   okay so they got on my N4M MY Page and showed him my pictures!!!!  He was stunned and they just laughed....  I have NO idea how they managed to get on my My Page unless I accidentally friended them with out knowing and it is a good thing that they were also bikers...  so my son told me about it and said it was all good BUT to watch what I say..  well, boy did I sing the praises of those RDCs after that!  hahahah

skimom - I think it would be great for your daughter to go into the Navy.. any job to my way of thinking would be a good job!!!  I hope she does!!!!!  There have been several females mom in here from time to time..  just like the guys, a few pass some fail and go on to other areas of the Navy...  but they are happy..  My son has several females that are in SD now in the Rescue Swimmer Pipeline and will also graduate this year..

Roxanne - I been thinking about yalls Romeo boys..  and how much they have to study...  I pray that they got that new instructor who will be more interesting and help them to WANT to learn and study!!!

Has anyone heard from KylesMom....  I know I have been asking about her for months now...  Im just worried cause she has not checked in..  remember her house burned in the Bastop fires... then she bought a new one and then more fires hit Bastrop and she has not been here ever since..  +0(

A Prayer of Thanksgiving from a NH Blue Star Mother
Today we bow our heads to give thanks Thanks to our Creator whose wisdom and strength is infinite. Thanks to the winds, for cleansing tired and weary souls,Thanks to the waters for life sustaining, Thanks to the Mother Earth as we lay her weary head to rest for another season, Thanks to the Father Sun for warming our souls on the long cold days, Thanks to the fires that life is reborn anew. Yes Creator today we give thanks for all of your little miracles we take so much for granted each day. Thank you Creator for my warrior son,Whose proud stance and carriage has carried him through many dark days, and even darker nights. He knows the Warriors Creed and knows the life he lives was chosen long ago for him. I thank you Creator for the many hands each one holding a star blue or gold, to be enfolded In this blanket not yet made. Each star is a prayer yet unanswered They that share the knitting of a new blanket In life they are the ones keeping the home fires lit They are -The mothers who stand beside their child who are so far away, but so very near, The wives who stand beside their husbands who are so far away but so very near, The daughters who stand beside their Mothers and grandmothers waiting for mommy or daddy to come home. The husbands and fathers who stand waiting for their loved one to come home. Creator this day we give thanks for prayers not yet answered. Keep all of our family near and far strong –know in our weakest moments we are the strongest, know in the darkest moments we are the light to guide them home.Yes, Creator this is a day of Thanks for all that has come before and all that will come after. .Each little moment we give thanks to you. Keep our warriors strong, Keep our warriors safe until all our hands and voices once again join together singing praise of Thanksgiving. ~2007 Proud NH Blue Star Mother~

I'm very careful of what I say and who I say it to. The first thing I did when I signed up for N4M was read what could be posted and what couldn't and I also apply that to my facebook. After all, it's not just my sailor's safety, but the safety of all that I keep close to my heart.

Lydia - I love the prayer!

    Warm Hugs to all!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

;hahahahah - I only told that story cause I thought it was soo funny... not as a warning to yall...  yall already know the rules.. I just though it was good for a laugh!!  But true to rememeber safey...  but honestly I know yall know that ....

Glad you liked that Navymom93...  my girl friend sent it to me and I had to share!!!  Yall are the best of the best...

  • TexasMomof2

Hi to everyone - old and new!  I'm really out of touch.......my son is flying back tonight to base after being out on an "exercise" for little over a week.  They flew out on Veterans Day and he said being in the air on that holiday and flying 500 ft over the tops of trees was an incredible feeling.

Lydia, love the prayer!  And your story.........reminded me of when my youngest was in Boot Camp.  We had another Mother who had posted a photo of her son in his prom tux.  One day when his class began, the first thing put up on the screen was this photo of him and the entire class erupted.  His RDC's had copied it off of her page.  And then another time, this Mom had kept saying that her son hadn't been writing so her son's RDC called him in and told him he needed to write home....

Kyle's Mom, I haven't heard from her either.  We do live approx 30 miles from where she live(s) though and I do know that there weren't any other fatalities.  She may be displaced.  I will say tho that the second round of fires were contained very quickly so hopefully she's just really busy with rebuilding cuz I do remember her saying they had good insurance.....unlike a lot of those who lost their homes.

Hope all are okay and welcome to the new ones!

  • roxanne

NavymomGG, T has not said anything about soccer, he did play in high school.  That is very cool that C was so excited.  Happy that he got his 1st choice.  Think T 1st choice will be Norfolk,(last I heard) it is about 2 1/2 hours away from home.  But that could change, he said SD was 2nd choice.  T will miss him, I thought R graduated with C? It will be good if they don't graduate at the same time. Does C get to come home for Christmas? I hope you get to spend some time with him.  Can you go to this graduation? Sorry for all of the questions.

    Happy Sonday to all!!!

Praying for all Sailors and their families!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

    Good morning my friends....

Texas.. well, that is good news and I suppose with all the chaos she has been through N4M is the last think on her mind... I dont blame her...  glad YOU are well!!!  hahah funny about the kid and the tux and all...  the RDCs are not all bad..  they really know what they are doing and they do it well..  my B really respected his.. you sons exercise sounded kewl!!!!  scarey to us moms but kewl!

HI NavymomG and Rox....  some of the guys and B play but not on a team..  not my sons fav sport...  so I dont know..??

I know can you believe that we will be seeing them in less than one month!!!  My B has plans to suprise his sister...  we are scheming how to do it... either at the hospital when she gets off or I suggested...  ordering pizza.... calling him and his buddy and have him deliever it hahahahahaah

Well, Ill be off line now for about 5 days .. going out of state and they do not have internet I do not think hubbys cousins house.   ugggggg  what will I do without everyone for that long!!!  sheeesh!  So happy Thankgiving!!   REMEMBER those of our beloved troops who will not be with their families at Thanksgiving or Christmas....  God bless them!

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

Safe travels to you all and a Happy Thanksgiving!!  My J comes home Thanksgiving day and we can't wait to have him home!!

April thanks for having company wed. evening, you're a saint. Hope to see you over the Christmas holiday.

  • roxanne

MamaB, How is J doing? Think things are better for T. Glad J gets to come home for Thanksgiving, Enjoy the holiday.  Bet you are excited.

NavymomGG, LOL, They are sweet guys. I too,am so excited about seeing T at Christmas-there are so many people who would like to see him, not sure he will have time to see them all. Trip to SD sounds excellent- If T gets SD we will have to meet up. I have never been there, T loved it when he was there.  Think both he and R were in SD before Pensacola. Is C on duty Thanksgiving day, not sure what T is doing.  Well if they are off we know they will be out somewhere eating. LOL

    Lydia, Happy Thanksgiving, Be Safe!!!

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

  • TexasMomof2

Ann1, I also have two sons.  My oldest is a talker.(he's a Navy corpsman)...in person and on the phone.  My youngest, the swimmer, is a talker in person and HATES talking on the phone......always has.  However, he is a texter.  I had to learn to text in order to communicate with him.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!  I am thankful I have my hubby, my sons, my faith and my job.  Safe travels to everyone!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Happy Thanksgiving yall!  Heading out and will be off line until Sun night..  hooyaa for those who get to see their sons on Tday and us on Christmas...  sooo much we have to be thankful for!!!!

Ann1 - thats funny cause my boy calls me almost every day BUT I have to do the talking cause sometimes we just sit in silence so I think of things to tell him and ask him... sometimes he has a lot to say but not usually...  well, at least he calls me...  =0)

My boy is healing fast and should be back to flying next month...  hoooyaaa!   Lets get her done!!!!!!!

AIRR - I sent you my email in your message box......

Happy Tday yall!!!!!!!  Ill be back in town on Sunday... so until then...  GOD bless!

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

Texas-my son is the same as your swimmer.  Generally doesn't like to talk on the phone, but will text up a storm.  We have text conversations all the time, not so much the verbal ones.

Lydia-glad your son is healing and will be flying again soon.  My son is back to flying and is only a little behind his class in flights, so it looks like he may still graduate with his class, which he really wants!

  • Mama B

Ann- my son is alot like Lydia's, he calls home about 4 times a week and gives us a total low down. But thats just the way he's always been, very open. One thing I have learned though is to not spend much time giving him advice (as hard as that is) about finances, getting the oil changed in his car, ect. Because then he hurries off the phone or shuts down the info.  My younger son is a senior this year so he's still home, but I would have to say he is very much a texter.

  • roxanne

    Mama B,
You are blessed to have J call you so often. T texts me like when I text him. He doesn't like us to worry about him so he tells us only what we ask, not much more. I found out from about school, I hope this didn't cause you any problems.

  • NavyMom93 (DIV: 823)

Good morning to all! I still haven't heard from my son but that's ok. I have it on good authority that they are very busy trying phase up fast. I've come out the other side of the panic mode and am now just waiting. I have a feeling he'll call tomorrow though.

I hope all of you have a wonderful Tday. We all have alot to be thankful for. This year I am thankful for all of you and all the ladies who helped me get through boot camp as well. Warm hugs to all!!

  • Mama B

Roxanne- you mean how they were put in with a different instructor?  Sometimes I'd count it a blessing NOT to know what's going on,especially when they were going through some grueling stuff in RSS!  No worries though, T is a GREAT kid (young man) and you've done a great job raising him!

  • roxanne

Mama B, Sorry my comment was so messed up, I left out a couple of words.  It's a wonder you understood any of it.  Yes, them getting moved back a week, that was probably a blessing.  Thank you for the nice comment about T.  I have never met J, but I have heard he is a nice young man from T.  Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

NavyMom93, Praying for you and your son, hope you hear from him soon.  I know how hard it is to wait and not know what is going on.  Your son is in RSS?

Ann1, My son has duty Thanksgiving Day too, he said he has it all weekend.  Not really sure what muster call is, but I have my own ideas.  Think they have to go to a certain place and make sure all of the people who are on duty are accounted for and doing what they are supposed to be doing.

    Happy Thanksgiving All!!!

  • NavyMom93 (DIV: 823)

roxanne, Thank you for your prayers. I have no idea what RSS is. I know that must sound terrible but I am really in the dark here. All I know is he left GL on the 11th and arrived at A-school, I assume the same day, LOL. It's funny because I knew every step of boot camp and would write him and tell him things. Now I'm just going on gut instinct that he's ok and not having too rough of a time.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. I hope everyone is safe in their travels and enjoys their time with family. We have so much to be thankful for. Warm Hugs to all.

  • roxanne

NavyMom93, It doesn't sound terrible at all, I have been in your shoes and worried myself to near death.  I will probably travel that road again, but for now I am calm. I guess that is why we are all here (N4M site) because we have been in that same position, and understand your worries.  He is probably on hold for Aircrew school.  Is he on Air Rescue path?  If so they don't go to A school til they finish Air Crew school and RSS (Rescue Swim School) Lydia maybe some others here have the link to give you all info about the path he will take. Post any other questions, we will be glad to help.  I will check back in Saturday evening.

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

  • TexasMomof2

NavyMom93, yes, we've all been in your shoes.......and when they first arrive in Pensacola it's a different kind of overwhelming for them.  Yes, they're out of boot camp but now a whole new different kind of pressure opens.  They're on their own.....but they're not on their own.  Learning the different phases.

Roxanne refers to a link about the path of a Rescue Swimmer.  Look above in the "Discussion Forum" and you'll see this discussion.  It will have tons of info for you.  Ask if you have questions----which no doubt you will.  It is confusing.

  • sweetpea4

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I won't see my Son for Thanksgiving, being married his grandmother in law is very ill so they will travel to his wife's family. My son has taken two of his RSS classmates with him! So they we all have a good Thanksgiving! Bless to have him near!!!

  • NavyMom93 (DIV: 823)

HE CALLED!!!! It was a short 5 minute call but he said he would call back later this evening when he had more time to call. Someone was nice enough to loan him their cell phone.

roxanne, I'll find out more this evening when I talk to him. I also have his address now too so I can write him. I've read the path of a Rescue Swimmer but I think I should reread it when things aren't so scatter-brained, lol.

Thank you all so much for your kind words. I will be back I'm sure, LOL. Warm Hugs

  • roxanne

NavyMom93, Make sure your Sailor puts in for leave Dec 16th - Jan 2nd the base is on some sort of stand down at this time, so he will get the time off, but he has to put in the request. He can fly out of Mobile (70 miles away) or Panama City about 103 miles from Pensacola.  South West flies out of PC and we found cheaper rates there.  Then you have to work on getting him to the airport. Lots of guys will be trying to get to both places so there are options.

  • Mama B

Don't forget Pensacola has an airport of their own. Its $35.00 Taxi fare from the base.

  • roxanne

Mama B, What airlines fly out of Pensacola?  Last Christmas when we were looking it was over $800.00 to fly to BWI from Pensacola.  T flew out of Mobile and we got a van to take him to and from the airport all less then 600.00, he didn't arrive in Pensacola last year til Dec 10th.  This year he will fly out of Panama City for under 400.00 including getting him to the airport and back.  Will just be glad to see him.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

OMG....  hey everyone!!!   Wooow okay so like I so DO NOT LIKE being without internet for 5 days... ugggggg... we are so spoiled!!!  well I am anyway... Missed yall... went back a few pages to catch up...  whoop some of us heard from our boys finally .....   and most of us will see them for Christmas... at least this year anyway!!!  okay Im pooped but YES like TEXAS said please go up to the forum section... click on View All and there is a Rescue Swimmer pipeline that we put together to help the newbies!!!  so check it out!!!   love yall... more tomorrow I promise!!!!!!

  • Mama B

Welcome back Miss Lydia, hope it was a relaxing Thanksgiving for you.

Roxanne- US Air, American, Jet Blue are the 3 I know for sure who fly out of Pensacola.

  • NavyMom93 (DIV: 823)

Good morning to all! Thank you so much for the info on airports and the dates and the sudden pulse increase to go with it, LOL. One of the last things we told him before we left GL was to get with the transportation officer and make sure that he knew what days he had for leave. Of course I'll write him about it anyway, lol. I figure he's been to busy to do that and that's ok.

I hope all of you have wonderful days! Warm Hugs!!!!
