  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Birdie - hi and welcome...  guessing that your Sailor is just out of Boot Camp???  Did you go up to the discussion forum section and read The Path of the Rescue Swimmer.....  it will answer a LOT of your questions...    So tell us about you and your Sailor??  We are sure here for you !!!  It is a tough pipeline as you will find out....so is your Sailor on hold for NACCS???  or RSS....

Vita -  wooow so your boy is with some of our other boys now in SD...  awesome..

Rox - Im relieved that they all made it and are getting moved in and all...  i know the Romeo boys are at a different part of the base then Sierra... but Im hoping that somehow the guys can look each other up....

    jajajo - hi sista

sweetpea - hi sista..   how's EVERYTHING going...

  • Jajajo

    Mornin' Lydia :)
  • Birdiejr

Thx for the welcome. My family lives in NC where I am married to a SWAT guy. We have 3 adult children -- one daughter married to a Coastie stationed in Ga, our son the sailor who entered boot camp last May, and another daughter who is a senior in college. Our sailor graduated NACCS a few weeks ago and is waiting for RSS. The Pathway info helped a lot -- thank you. And thanks for the hotel recs. He was home for Christmas but we want.to take advantage.of.having him on the east coast while we can.
  • Vitamama

Lydia, I went to the Path of the RS, and now I need to send you some CYBER Flowers and chocolates because that was awesome.  :)   I copied and pasted to a document and made it large print to send to my parents so they know what he's doing.  It isn't always clear from what we get from the 'boys'.  We just are proud of them for it.

  • sweetpea4

Hey Lydia, hope you are having a good weekend. Welcome to all the new families!!! We are here for all of you. This is a wonderful group of Mom's!!!!

Birdie...  okay kewl... well, lots of prep for RSS...  he will need to kick butt and take advantage of his hold time for sure!!

SUPER prayers for all our Sailors....

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

Hey everyone and welcome to the new folks who have joined the group.  I have been away for about a week, so had to page back a bit to catch up.  So glad to hear Sailors are arriving safely to destinations and getting settled in.  My son has been at his duty station for a couple of weeks now and has gotten whatever he needed to do to get signed in with his squadron and starts flying Monday with them.

We haven't set up skype yet, so I still haven't talked to him, but we have had a few text conversations.  We mostly just text on the weekends because usually when it is convenient for me to text it is 1 AM for him and visa versa.  I can usually start texting him around Friday afternoon and again Saturday afternoon.  After that, and it is Monday for him and he is at work.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Calimom... awesome... so at least you have the communication starting...   man oh man... what would we have done 30 years ago with out cell phones and text and puters and skype...  my daddy was WWII search and rescue pilot...  I can not imagine how his mommie dealt with that... NO communication except for month old letters!  uggg...  so thank goodness for technology!!!  So, he is well and happy it sounds like!  awesome!

  • NavymomGG

Happy Tuesday everyone !! Welcome Vitamama and Birdier....This is a great place with amazing people who are all on the same wave length....understanding, helping and supporting each other...comforting in ways most people try to understand but can't because they haven't been through the same experiences...our sailors are so lucky to have each other just as we are !!

Vitamama, my son is also in SD...lots of great guys there...

Birdier...we stayed at the Navy Lodge on base and it was very nice...we had a great room and it's right on the beach...another time we stayed at the suburban inn which I wasn't thrilled with but it was nice for my guy to get off base for a bit that time

Lydia...keeping you and your husband in my prayers along with our sailors and their loved ones....

    Hope everyone is well.....xoxoxoxoxo

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

  • Mama B

Hello Ladies its been a while. As most of you know my son is now in SD and absolutely LOVES it. Meeting up with guys from way back in his PST days. Tomorrow he leaves for the field training in SERE (I'm trying to block most thoughts about it) but he feels pretty confident and knows he is prayed for daily.

Hello to my peeps -Roxanne and Vitamama

Birdiejr- Hello from a fellow North Cakalackan (sp?)

Lydia -Hows your hubby doing? Praying the Great Physician is taking care of him.

  • sweetpea4

I made myself sick over it, and so glad it's done for mine. Your Son will survive it will be the longest 4-5 days ever for you! It's great training and a must do they will be much stronger for it!!! Here's to finishing SERE!!!!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

    good evening...

vitamama.... My son was not told that... What I go by is... Lose Lips Sink Ships... so anything you would not want a terrorist to see or read... dont say.. in other words we all know that N4M is not a secure site. unfortunately!!! Anyone can join most all groups.. and as much as I want to believe that all we say is just between all us friends.. it may not be - though my son said not to worry about FB or N4M or discontinue... just to be careful what we post... I know you already know all this... we all remind each other from time to time... so dont leave us because of SERE... we will just continue to pray and make sure you are doing okay and await that call.... btw... remember, the instructors take good care of these guys!! If you are not comfortable being here during that time then you know we understand.... HUGS and our boys will be great and fine

    NavymomGG - hye sista girl!!!!!

sweetpea.... how are the kids... the boy and DIL... God bless them both!!!!

  • Vitamama

Lydia.  no problem. I love this site and all my N4M friends.  An adventure for us along side our awesome sailors.  Mums the word in more ways than one.  ( wink)

  • Birdiejr

Hi, everyone, and thanks for the prayers.  I will keep the SERE folks in my prayers as well.  I am learning so much from you ladies.  We were thinking of visiting our sailor while he is on the east coast but now RSS starts Monday.  Should we postpone our trip?  Any thoughts?

  • sweetpea4

Birdieir, he will have weekends free. The third wk gets challenging. I would still go even if you only saw him on the wkend

  • Mama B

Birdieir you may want to visit on his projected graduation date from RSS. They had a nice (short) ceremony and the boys could show their families around the RSS pool building. Just be prepared to be flexible if that date changes, as they sometimes get rolled back for not passing something the 1st time. ( It happens to the best of them!) We enjoyed staying at the Navy Lodge - it was very clean and footsteps away from the beach.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

    Happy Friday yall!!!

Yup I agree with Sweetpea and also MamaB...  I did not get to attend my boys graduation but another Navy friend of mine who lives near went for me and she video taped and photo graphed it..  I wish so much I could have gone!!!!  My son received the Honormen Award and I was not there to see it   =0(   so definately if you can only go once go to the Graduation..  but as MamaB said...  you wont really know when that graduation will be till the last minute so to speak....

Hope everyone has a GREAT Friday!!!!  Lots of prayers going up for those starting RSS - trying to finish RSS and those going to SERE and patience for those who are on hold!!!!   AND PRAYERS FOR US MAMAs wives and gfs

  • Vitamama

Reading mamaB's story about RSS graduation reminded me of how rainy it was and we were trying to find the building....well we weren't paying attention and we were going a 27 mph and were pulled over by the base patrolman for speeding. Of course,  this Mama didn't want to miss graduation so she pulled out the tears and the the unknown and he helped us find it. Our son got to give us a tour around the facility and the pool and  explain more of what they had been training. It's so worth finding a way to go. Too bad there isn't a N4M special airfare pass where we can make last minute changes. :)    Happy Friday everyone and thanks for those prayers. We can expect great things!!

  • roxanne

Vitamama and MamaB, Praying for you and your sailors!

  • Jajajo

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Vitamama - My B is Sierra.. He is finished with the pipeline and attached to his squadron... there in SanDiego....he is currently studying to get his wings..... yalls boys are Romeo I do believe and are also SD but a different base or a different end of the base... far apart....

Jajajo - AWESOME yes this is the toughest part of this entire pipeline... RSS!!

OKAY SO MOMS whose boys are in SD.. MamaB, Roxanne, Vita, Sweetpea, everyone else ....... If your boys want to go to a really kewl church this Easter Sunday (and all Sundays for that matter) My son and two of his buddys are going to one (I know the paster personally... we were in college together) it is called NewBreak... address is: 4033 Ingraham Street, SD 92109... tell your kids that my B loves it and he and the guys even went Friday night (can you believe that... Sailors in Church on a Friday nite hahayh) so he and his two or three buddies will be there Sunday.... starts at 10:45... There are other Sailors who go there also B said... So... plese pass this on to the guys (gals) It is not far from the North Island Base... about 20 minutes or so

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

ALSO it is a totally casual board shorts surfer kinda church

  • Vitamama

Lydia, I was thinking about Easter too!! And it would be great for them to all go to church  together, especially since it sounds like this has/is/will have been a tough/intense week for all.  I am praying that they will have an invite to a nice Easter dinner somewhere too. Do you think you could check with your pastor friend and see if there is anything like that through the church?Sometimes they have it arranged for the sailors.  (We did when we lived there for 30 years)   And I have asked my friend if she would make some Easter baskets for them.  She was so impressed with MamaB's boy and my son when they were with them a couple weeks ago.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Vitamama.... Il ask...  Ill let you know...  if Id have thought about it I should have mentioned it to him a month ago ....  takes time to plan that..   I sure will ask him though!!  I know he spends a LOT of time after the service just hanging with the guys and talking...  so does his wife....    Yes I think of the boy go just once there they will be totally hooked...!!!

bsmom - AWESOME!!!!  Im sure his orders will come soon..lots of GREAT squadrons there.....   I do hope that a bunch of the guys will bust down the doors of NewHope hahaha..... along with my B and his buddies...... Rock on Sailors....

  • NavymomGG

Hi Everyone...Hope all is Happy and Healthy by you and your sailors...

Lydia..just texted my guy the info. on the church...Thank you...

I just sent off some treats from the easter bunny...hahahaha..and it would be nice if he was able to go to a mass or do something special that day...It's hard for them to be away from family on the holidays so I love it when they do things together...

Keeping the prayers going for ALL....xoxoxoxoxo

  • Birdiejr

Hi Moms!!  Hope everyone is having a great day!!  Has anyone received an update from their sailor on how this week is going?  Know there are a lot of new rotations going on.  Was anyone near the recent outbreak of bad weather?  I hope everyone is safe and sound.  Hugs!!!

Good afternoon Lydia. J just had another pt session this morning-got a special forces t-shirt-he's pumped now,  lol!!! As of right now, his ship date is still 7/3 so we are planning everything for graduation with that date in mind. His best friend (he lives with us) just passed his ASVAB and is at meps right now. He wants something mechanical but I don't know yet what he's going to get. Hopefully his ship date will be close to J's. Lots of planning to do and you are right, time is flying by.
