Sweetpea - Hope ur having a GREAT time in SD!! Lydia - My RSS sailor must be ok since we haven't heard from him. We will call him tomorrow to check in. How is everyone else?

  • Jajajo

Three down two more to go......all travel arrangements made.  Can't wait for graduation :)

  • sweetpea4

Enjoying visiting my Son and catching up with friends! Taking a tour of the base and Coronado tomorrow! Eating lots of Mexican food! Yummie!
  • Vitamama

sweetpea4  give out mama hugs to our boys if you get to see them.

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

Jajajo- glad to hear your sailor is still hanging in there. Keep the positive vibes going!

Sweetpea-glad you are enjoying your time with your sailor.

Lydia-my son says he spends lots of time studying too. He has been able to go on a couple of flights that he needs for his wings, but that is about it. And apparently, he is working out alot more also.  In Norfolk, he was one of the top in PT, but in Guam, he says everyone is so much more in shape.   Apparently everyone there (assuming RSS guys) can do an insane amount of pull ups.  So he is in catch up mode, cuz he hates to be last or close to the bottom in PT.

my son is going to bc in July and has qualifed for AIRR but I am still worried that he may not make it ,hope this site helps my worrying because this is his goal.

  • lexi728

My fiance had his first day off RSS today, he said he absolutely exhausted and his "body hates him now". He's already in bed and going to sleep so he's ready for day two.

  • sweetpea4

Wow! What a trip! San Diego is a insane as ever!! Kids are well liking the urban life style, Mom prefers the quite and much slower pace of life. Toured  the training squadron, boy not much room in those heli's!!!!! Enjoyed every second of seeing my children but sooo glad to be home!!!!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

    Good morning yall!

jmh8642 - well, you are welcome to hang right here with us...  be sure and go up to the discussion forum up above and click on the Path of the Rescue Swimmer and read... that will help you alot with general info...  as far as making it...  it is a rough long pipeline and he will have to be top notch and totally mentally prepared...  it is a hard but rewarding Rate...  If he has set his mind to it then he can do it....  we will be praying for you and for him...  dont be shy to lean on us!  we have been there and done it and some are still in the middle of the pipeling.  My boy is done and attached to his squadron in SD Cali....  thank gooodness!!!!

sweetpea - AWESOME  yea kewl welcome home I know you had a blast

lexi - did he say how the other guys in here are doing..  are all three still hanging tough??  Cause Jaja has not heard from her boy...  (perhaps she has by now)

Lydia: I'm not sure how jajajo's son is doing, he classed up a few weeks earlier than the other 2. He did say they're class has already gone from 24 to 19 in 2 days and a lot of people might be held back tomorrow. Already so proud and amazed at everything that he's accomplishing. Praying he does well all the way through to the end.

  • Jodi-alumni Ship 4

Welcome jmh8642, you have found a great site. These ladies really know their stuff and you will learn a lot from them. What day does your son leave for bc? My son leaves on July 3. There was talk he would get his date set back but on Monday the recruiter said July 3 is it. There is a lot to cram in the next few months and I'm sure it won't be long before it sets in that in just a few months, I will have an empty house for the first time in a really long time.

  • sweetpea4

AIRR Mom 86 CONGRATS!!!! How exciting!!! Proud too!

  • Jodi-alumni Ship 4

    Congrats to your son!

  • Birdiejr

Congrats AIRR Mom 86!!  Welcome jmh8642 - I've found this group so helpful and just joined it myself a few weeks ago. Lexi - Hang in there. My son is in RSS (at the end now) and that first week was a doosy. Your guy will hang tough. You should too!! Lydia - How are things your way?

  • Vitamama

We celebrate with you AIRR Mom 86.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

westcoastmom -------    AWESOME.........  hoooooooooooooyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa   those wonderful wings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • kkrHoosier

I have found my way back to this group after a long absence - I think it was during boot camp.  My son is now in his first week of RSS and his class is dwindling quickly.  I'm feeling very stressed for him although he tells me not to worry.  I hope I can sleep tonight after talking with him today about his week thus far.

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

westcoastmom & AIRR mom-so happy for you and your sailors! I know you both are very proud and have every reason to be.

kkrHoosier-yes RSS really tests the sailors on so many levels.  Just keep encouraging your sailor and he will get through it.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

kkrHoosier - welcome and great that he has started ....  yes it is the hardest part of this pipeline!  The attrition is to be expected....  my son started with 37 in his class and ended up with 9!!!!  Plus 2 from a class that had some rolls....  but if your son tells you not to worry then he must be confident that he will get it done!  God bless him...  Please stay here with us and keep us updated.  no you probably will not sleep for the next 5 weeks...  I didnt!!!!  And in the course of this two almost year pipeline I gained about 20 pounds...  uggggggggg  But we are here for you every day....  and Prayers going up for him!!!!!   We have three in here right now that are around week 4 now...

  • kkrHoosier

Lydia - thank you for the words of encouragement and of course, prayers are always welcome.

  • sweetpea4

kkrHoosier, Good luck will be praying for your Son's success. Hang in there, there will be set backs, holds and retesting all a part of this difficult process. We are here to provide support. We have all had to lean on each other. Welcome to the Navy family!!!! Hang on for the ride!!!

  • roxanne

kkrHoosier, Praying for you and your sailor.  Your encouragement and prayers are what he needs, tell him to never give up!  They will see his determination.  My son was rolled to next class, just made it one week longer, it was the best thing for him and the other guys that were rolled.  They did great (smaller class of just 7) and went on to finish just one week after their original class.  My son is doing great, in SD on hold til Romeo FRAC starts.  Lots of sleepless nights and prayers for moms.

  • kkrHoosier

Thanks, roxanne. It helps to know so many other moms have gone through this.

  • Vitamama

What an incredible group of moms and wives on this support team. No wonder the caliber of the RSS's is so great.

  • lexi728

One intense week down four more to go :)

  • sweetpea4

lexi728 will be thinking of the  sailors! Hang tough! Lydia thinking of you and your husband praying for God's strength and healing power!!

  • Birdiejr

Hang in there Lexi and Kkr. We've been where you are and this place is a good place to hang out when you're feeling anxious. My sailor should be graduating from RSS this week but like others we haven't heard from him so we are in a holding pattern.  Seems to be the norm.  I am hoping to see his smiling face this week!! Will keep the rest of you in my prayers, as always. Whatever stage you're in, my prayers go out for you...Hugs...

  • Jajajo

Happy Sunday everyone!!  Lexi-hang in there encourage and support, which I know you will.  Four more weeks seems like a long time but it does go by fast.  He'll make it through just fine :)

Spoke to my son over the weekend.  Him and the team are getting ready for finals and their fifth week which starts tomorrow.  The team is holding strong at 17 and will be one of the bigger RSS graduating classes.  Can't wait for graduation!!  I'm all packed and ready to go :)

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

loved hearing from my sailor this weekend and that he got our package via some friends in the area.  I enjoy reading this every morning and connecting with you all. Kindred spirits, cheering each other's sons on and praying for each other too.
