  • kkrHoosier

Lexi - not yet . . .  I'm afraid to ask.  Do you know?

  • lexi728

kkr- I have no idea. He said maybe the 24th or 25th but thats just basing it on the weeks they have class for

  • teamnavy

Hey everyone!  I have officially gone through MEPS this past monday and of course am now on medical hold..waiting for some operative reports from my knee surgeries over ten years ago...but once that goes through I get to swear in FINALLY! (so pray that it's in the next week or two)  I met my spec war trainer and active duty SEAL mentor last week and cannot be more excited!! I'm so glad I found this group, your posts everyday keep me looking forward to what I have coming up and especially to keep working for.  Kudos to all your guys going strong!!!

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

teamnavy-sounds like you are very close to starting on the path to rescue swimmer.  Good luck to you!

  • Birdiejr

Welcome teamnavy!! This is a great group!!

We just returned from RSS graduation and it was wonderful. Our sailor is so happy and made some good friends there. We loved our time in Pensacola. I hated to leave.

Jajajo - It was great to see you in person! Hope you made it back safely.

How are the other RSSers doing? Lydia - How are you and your fam doing? Anyone else have news to report?

  • kkrHoosier

Birdiejr - My sailor is in his third week of RSS - so far, so good.  What can you tell me about the RSS graduation? We would be driving quite a distance but really want to be there for our son.

  • soproud

I was wondering the same thing about RSS graduation.  It seems like this is an important graduation to attend.  Our Sailor is just starting NAACS this week so not sure when RSS will even be.  Also, do they have a ceremony for NAACS?

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

soproud....and KKr ----  No not really for NACCS....  but RSS is very kewl...  I could not go but a mom who lives in Pcola went for me and taped it and sent me lots of photos...    ummmmm   after NACCS..  there will be a hold before they qualify for RSS..  depends as far as how long the hold is...  BUT that hold is a good thing because they have to be at the TOP TOP of their mental and physical game to make it through RSS...  Glad you are here with is!!!!!   My son is done and attached to his squad in SD...

HEY anyone new be sure to go up to the discussion forum above and read Path of the Rescue Swimmer....  it will help you alot....

teamnavy - good to see you again and woooow...   soon you will be off and running...  enjoy that pre training...  you will need it for sure!!!!

Birdieir.....  awesome!!!!!!!!    ummmm  well, hubby is still taking radiation and tired...   but kids are great

Lexi and KKr......  trust me you will NOT know until the middle of the week they graduate... because they have their finals that week and still can fail...(Im sure they wont!!!!!  fingers crossed)  but the reality is that you really wont know till the very last minute...  so deep breath...  be prepared for either way....  we will pray for a trip for yall to Pcola!!  =)

  • sweetpea4

    soproud

By all means make the trip to Pensacola, make sure you get to graduation early so that you can take the tour! This is one of very few ceremonies that you will be able to attend (others are very short).

  • sweetpea4

    Soproud,

The ceremony for Air crew School is short.  I attended the Both ceremonies because I live 1 hour from Pensacola. RSS is the one not to miss!

  • Birdiejr

I agree -- don't miss the RSS graduation or the tour of the museum it's in. The ceremony is wonderfully informal and brief. The instructors are very proud of the graduates accomplishments and let it show. It was very touching and a very proud moment.

Lydia - still praying for your family.

  • kkrHoosier

Thank for all the comments - will keep you updated.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Hey everyone..  how are the RSS school Sailors doing...  everyone passing???

  • kkrHoosier

Week 3, Day 4 - my son is still okay.  There were some major tests yesterday I guess. Only nine candidates remain.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

kkr....  fingers crossed and prayers going up for ALL of them

  • Jajajo

Hello all!!  Got back from RSS graduation and had a GREAT time! All of you that have loved ones in RSS definitely attend the graduation.  You'll LOVE it and will be beaming with PRIDE...AWESOME!!!

My son found out today he wil be going Sierra.  Still don't know when school starts, but is very excited :)

Birdiejr-It was nice to meet you as well.  We are a couple of proud moms, huh?! :)

  • lexi728

Well B got rolled back today hopefully he'll start week 3 Day 1 again on Monday. I'm just so thankful I didn't book my flight yet.

  • Vitamama

lexi728  We've been there. Just keep encouraging him. And Jajajo, glad you had a great time at graduation. We thought it would never come and now ours in in SD waiting to class up. Hopefully next week.

  • sweetpea4

Getting rolled at this point is common, stay positive, keep your sailor focused, realize this one way they try to get them to quit. It is part of the test, mental as well as physical! Hang tough!
  • sweetpea4

Last comment for lexi728 and those in week 3 rss. All a part of the process, a very difficult one!
  • Birdiejr

Hang in there, lexi. It's a tough process. We're here for you!!

Jajajo - So glad your sailor heard. Did he want Sierra? Mine hasn't heard. I wonder how many heard. Did your guy say?

    Good news, kkr!!

    Is everyone else ok?

  • roxanne

lexi728, Everyone is right, hang in there. Encourage him, it will work out if he does not give up.  My son was rolled during RSS and it ended up being the best thing for him.  He graduated Romeo in March and is in SD (with vitamama and MamaB's  Sailors waiting to class up) Praying for you and your Sailor.

    Praying for all Sailor's!

  • Birdiejr

Ann1 - special prayers for you and your son!!

  • roxanne

Ann1, Praying for you and your son.  My son just finished.  He said he was glad he did it he learned so much and never wanted to do it again!  He is tough or he wouldn't have gotten this far.  Is he Romeo?  If so, he will probably class up with my son.

  • Jajajo

Birdiejr-he was satisfied with either one.  He didn't say who else heard, only that he moves next week.

  • sweetpea4

Ann1 praying for you and your Son! Tough few days for him! God Bless!
  • Vitamama

Always love coming here and getting a N4M fix. Happy Mother's Day to all of you amazing women for raising your sons to have strong convictions such as " so that others may live"...  and for being the rock on this page when others need you. Sending cyber flowers to you all!  ( and extra brownies to Lydia  :)

  • Birdiejr

Happy Mother's Day everyone!! I hope you all got to talk to your loved ones. Mine heard he's been assigned to Sierra, as is Jajajo's son. Here's to a fantastic week! Still praying for our SERE and RSS folks!! (well everyone else for that matter)

  • Jajajo

I second that, Birdiejr!  To all you great moms, hope your day was a memorable one.

  • roxanne

Ann1, I do believe our sons are friends-I ask T if any of his friends were in SERE now he said he had at least 3.  Are his initials CW? If so they are friends.  My son's initials are TD- last name could be a first name. Praying for you and your Sailors.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Happy Monday yall...  been MIA for the weekend...  I went back a few pages to catch up....  Awesome our Sailors are moving on ...  Graduating...  moving on in this long Pipeline...  one rolled back(Lexi - bf)  which as Sweetpea and Rox said happens alot - but Ill bet he will pass second time around... AND just know that the guys that are going to SERE will be fine!!   Hungry and tired when they finish but a great experience my son told me...  no NOT one that they care to repeat of course !!!

    Vitamam - Thank you!!

  • kkrHoosier

Whew! End of day one, week four. Still going strong. Not so much Mom and Dad as we wait for news at the end of each day.

  • Andysmom

I received a call from a "charity". They were looking for money "for the troops coming back from Afghanastan and their families." I said sure I was interested but wanted to know what percent was actually given to the troops. He mumbled and I asked him to speak up. He said 20%, the rest goes to the companies expenses. I told him they should be ashamed of themselves for stealing from the "Armed Forces" for their gain! 20% UNREAL! There are actual charities that give all. What a joke!
  • Vitamama

has anyone else had problems with their son receiving mail  in San Diego

  • sweetpea4

kkrHoosier, that is great news! week three the most difficult! Hang tough it's a nail biter!!!

  • kkrHoosier

Ladies - I am going to at least try to make hotel reservations.  The class graduates next Thursday - my son is class leader (not sure what that means exactly). There are 7 candidates left.  The Navy Lodge is full - where are some other choices - nice but not extravagant - and close?

  • Jajajo

kkrHoosier-try the Gateway Inn and Suites1-877-NAVY-BED (628-9233).  We stayed there and it's on base too.  Good luck!

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

kkrHoosier-you will be watching your sailor graduate RSS before you know it.

Andysmom-good for you for asking and you are right, shame on them for only giving 20% to the troops. BTW, how is your sailor doing?

  • Andysmom

He's doing awesome. Leaving Pensacola on 6-2-12 to head for SanDiego. He's is SO ready for SERE and FRS!

  • sweetpea4

kkrHoosier, there is also a Holiday Inn express on New Warrington road that is close to base

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Andysmom - It is sad isnt it....  well, if you want somewhere to donate your funds that actually go TO the troops...   our American Legion Riders spend 100% of our fund raised money on care packages for the needy troops..  kids who dont have family support...   OR also....   the USO - what a great organization also...

kkrHoosier - whoooooooooooooooooooooooop - like sweetpea said..  and hey the worse really is behind him...  but we will keep up the prayers

CaliMom - how are you have not seen on for a while...  course I have been MIA for a week myself

vitamama - YES........   I sent (from TX) home made cookies to him and the guys...   took 7 days to get there...  ridiculous...  and that is the second time and we are only a few states away!!!!

  • Vitamama

thanks for commenting Lydia.  I am frustrated about mailing stuff. I paid extra for his college to send the transcripts and they never got there.  When I sent cookies, they were stale when he got them. ha!  So this time I am sending it to friends who will take it to him that day.  ya hoo!!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

vitamama -  I know RIGHT  I told my B that I will not send home made any more...  he understood....  but I dont get it???  All his mail has gotten to him but just took soooooooooooo long...  arg!  Hey that is a GREAT idea....  I might do that tooo...  hummmmm  thank you for the idea!!!!!  His pastor is my OLD back in the day dear friend...  Ill bet the box would get to them asap and they can give it to him at chuch...  I just have to time it just right...  kewl!!!!   =)

okay this is for all us mammas who are STRESSED out..........     Peace

  • CaliMom (Maryann)

Love the picture Lydia.  One the mail front, I was shocked that I sent a package to my son in Guam and it got to him in less than a week.  I have a friend who has a daughter stationed in Japan and she said packages to her daughter take about a month to get there, so I was expecting about the same.  Quite surprised to find how quickly he got it.  When he was in Norfolk it took forever to get mail to him, so we would send packages to his friends who lived off base and they would give to him.  Took only a couple of days that way.

  • Vitamama

Way to go for your son making it through SERE. And for YOU, mama, making it through too!!

  • lexi728

B got his 3-1 date. He starts on Monday hoping all goes well this time around!!

  • sweetpea4

yeah, glad SERE is behind your Son Ann1, not a fun experience!
