Lydia, here is a picture of the boys. I tried to make it smaller but no such luck. I really need to learn how to do all this stuff lol. Anyway, they really seem to be enjoying the sunshine.
Jodi ---- hahahaha LOVE the pixs... tooo awesome and the smiles tell it all!!!!!
Travelsalot... they do a lot of pre test to get into the schools (NACCS RSS and A)... they test in BC... they test after NCAAS they test INTO RSS and Test out of it... having to beat their scores each time... sounds like he is stellar!!!! they are not allowed to be referred to (according to my son) as anything but Sailors until they finish the entire pipeline and pass all... a kid in his class when after BC got to Pcola ... got a new truck and got a tag that indicated he was a rescue swimmer... well... he was instructed to remove the tag by Master Chief and was chidded for a long time.. soooo Im thinking just best to refer to him as a Sailor in the AIRR program... keeps him from any problems or chidding etc.....
aster alumni.... does your sailor know some of the mammas in here's sailors... you can message and ask for name to share with your kids... its kinda a small world there and most of them know each other!!!
Hi everyone, I am new to this group. My fiance graduated this weekend div 806. I am excited about him being in A school now but I do not know much about it. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Keke, Lydia is the lady with all the answers so she can answer any questions you may have but in the meantime go up to the discussion forum and check out the path of a Rescue Swimmer forum. It will answer most of your questions and welcome to the group.
WELCOME NEW LADIES KeKe and airmom!!!! aster - sooo great you are all supporting each other believe me, I could NEVER have made it through my sons RSS pipeline without my friends here and my friends I made in BC...
PS - how are MomofDan; jmh8642; Jesse's Mom; Johun; rnte; BJ -- have not seen much from yall lately... lots of on holds there... how are the Sailors doing? Jodi do you hear from Johun or rnter or Jesse's Mom... I might have missed something when I was in FL for 5 weeks... anyhooooo hope all are well!!!! Jack are you still around.?? How is your son with his NEW rate???
Thanks for the welcome Lydia. I'm sure I'll get a lot of help from you "veterans". A couple of questions I have are: When can they have a car; where do they keep it; and what are the rules regarding having a car on base? Thank you.
Morning, Lydia. No, I haven't heard from any of the other moms so I don't know how their kids are doing. J has started running with some of the other rescue swimmers and finds he enjoys it so he signed up for a race next month. (Surprised the heck out of me-I've seen him run lol! but seriously I'm glad he's enjoying it since it makes the workouts more enjoyable I'm sure.) How is your son doing?
Careful what contract is signed! He will lose signing bonus ect.. if after he signs a contract and then changes to something else. The Navy is a waiting game, patience is a must!!!! If he wants a RSS position then that should be his first choice not so easy to transition after the fact. There are a certain number of slots avail. Timing is everything! Keep in mind that RSS has a VERY high drop rate,
Hello, I have a question. Does the navy pay for you to move to FRAC with your spouse he will be graduating a school and june and just trying to figure this out, he is a romeo if that helps thank you :)
airmom.... hi sista.. well, my son bought a truck after he was Phase 3... ... they cant do much until they Phase up ... then they have more liberty...or freedom... have your son talk to his commanding officer ... I don't recall my boy having any problems... of course they have to go through base protocol but your son will easily find that part out.... Phases determine what they can and can not do and where they can and can not go.. look up above at the discussion forum... on Phases.....hopefully that will help... oh and they will park it on base in the base parking lot...
Jodi okay thank you.. just ... glad your boy is happy and working!!! wish they would check in tho - OH my boys squadron Black Jacks just was awarded the Battle E award freekin awesome!!!!!!!!!! you can google it... so kewl
MomofDan... I agree with Sweetpea....... and he can not count on the Rss contract later. it is a FULL over manned rate... and .considering his traffic record it might not happen..... hey hang in there... gosh... okay well, here is what I think.. Aviation mech is a great Rate!!!! I know two kids who started out RSS and dropped and went that rate and they LOVE it... so don't be discouraged... . but personally I think he will love the mech rate .... it is a vital part of Aircrew... heck without our Aviation mechs... no one could fly safe... AND if and when he gets out.... he will have awesome training... sooooo mamma... no worries!!!! just keep him pumped up and hooooooorrrrrraaaaaaa
megan.... now this is out of my league.... I will have to find this out... anyone here have any answer for Megan???????? lemme ask some of my ladies on the Black Jack Squad site... they are young married couples.... mean while... perhaps someone here can answer that!!!
HI sweetpea!!!! so happy to see you here!!!!! You old plank you! teehehehe
Hi all. Sorry it's been awhile...I check the boards often on my phone but can't reply from there. All is well with Jess. He's enjoying Aschool and is eager for the next step. He has been running with Jodi's son and Jodi and I text back and forth every once in awhile. Without her support and understanding - I'd be a mess - haha. All is well... Just miss my boy every single day.

Oahu rescue crews search for missing Navy SEAL
The Associated Press
Posted : Thursday Feb 21, 2013 7:43:54 EST
HONOLULU — Oahu rescue crews are searching for a Navy SEAL who went missing after he became separated from his unit during open ocean swim training off Kaena Point.
The Coast Guard said Wednesday that Honolulu lifeguards and firefighters along with Navy sailors and Coast Guardsmen are helping with the search.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew and a response boat crew left a training exercise to search for the sailor Tuesday evening. A Coast Guard HC-130 airplane joined the search overnight.
Coast Guard cutters, a Navy tug, Honolulu Fire Department helicopter and Honolulu firefighters on jet skis looked for the SEAL on Wednesday.
The search for a Navy SEAL missing at sea since Tuesday extended farther northwest from Kaena Point today, the Coast Guard said.
A Coast Guard C-130 aircraft, a 45-foot response boat, the 110-foot cutter Kiska and the Navy tug Sea Commando are continuing the search for the 34-year-old SEAL, who became separated from other members of his command during ocean swim training near Kaena Point Tuesday afternoon.
The Navy said the missing man is a first class petty officer assigned to a Hawaii-based special-warfare unit. An official said 10 sailors were using two rigid-hull inflatable boats during the training.
Navy officials would not name the SEAL or his unit. SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team 1 is the main unit for the commandos in Hawaii, with about 100 SEALs.
The Honolulu Fire Department set up an incident command post at Kaena Point, the Coast Guard said.
AZOK - welcome and prayers for sure! I understand exactly how you feel sista!! We are glad you are hear and we all support each other! Its hard to get through the pipeline of Rescue Swimmer and then even harder once they make it !!! At least it is for us parents and spouses ....
Travelsalot.... yea Im wondering what the news is.. Im afraid it might not be good at this point but there is always hope!!!!
Hot and sunny here on the east coast of FLA. My son is doing great in "A" school. He will be sending his GoPro camera home so we can run the updates on it...having difficulties with the streaming on the base. He now has a 3rd room mate. They get a long great. He doesn't seem as stressed as he did a few weeks ago. I guess some parts of "A" are more stressful than others.
Haven't seen any updates on the Navy Seal in Hawaii, I did a lot of praying last night, hoping he would be found by this morning, did a search on the net and didn't see any updates... :( My heart goes out to him, his family and the Seals.
Hi, Lydia and Keke - My son texted me last night that he's "phased up" - so send him some civilian clothes!!! He's also doing great, just waiting to get into class. I'm going to see him next week. Can't wait.
Congrats Jesse's Mom and GMom on your swimmers graduating and heading onto the next step. Romeos don't graduate until late May so you'll have to keep us posted on what to expect.
Great to hear from you Keke and happy the skyping is going well, the base in SD their internet is not good at all and I have not been able to Skype with my son AT ALL arrrrrg
Airmom10 - hahahah yup they love those civ clothes!
Jesses' - and GMom -- well, it will be a challenge but my son said he learned so much in that two weeks of SERE and they all seem to come out for the better!!!! They end up on a Thursday normally and you will prob get a call from them on their way back to base... they usually stop them and let them pig out and eat.. then lots of sleep to catch up on!!!!
Aster -- I only heard that the search was officially called off days ago but the SEALs said they refuse to stop as they never leave one behind.. so Im still hoping that at least they will find his remains for the sake of family and his brothers!!! So glad your son is doing well in A school...
Any news on any of our Sailors who are in the RSS school now?????? There were several on hold not tooooo long ago???
My son is leaving Thursday on another deployment training... sounded really intense so mamma will be nervous for two weeks... =( It involves some other unusual Special Forces..
HI Sweetpea..... so glad you popped in!! How are you and yours all doing?
I am hoping SERE goes well, I know he's nervous about it, but I suppose they need to be. Heard from a weary sailor last night after a day long of travel from Pensacola to SD, He says the first week he will be able to call but after that..............we know he will do fine. Thanks Lydia for the well wishes and info about them getting to call afterwards (and getting to eat again!)
GMom - he will be a okay... hang in there!!!! that is hard going from Pcola to SD to SERE.. yes week one they can call actually about 5 days... week 2... thursday.. all will be well.........Keep us posted!!!!!
Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing.
My son should be finishing up FRAC soon and then heading out to his next base. Excited to be able to go to this graduation but sad that he will be going to the east coast so far from home, but he is headed to a place I have never been. Sounds like a great excuse to go see him.
I sent my youngest son off to bc last week and and down to just one at home and she feels like an only child even though he has two brothers here in town, cracks me up. First time in 30 years that I have had an extra bedroom in the house, what do i do with it?
Ochaos, my Son is an only child and when he left for College I got a bulldog, now I have 5 dogs!! LOL my answer to the empty nest. It is so very hard to let them go, but we as Mom's must let them fly and become Men! Good luck to all and special prayers to those going through SERE. When my Son went through SERE's I developed the Shingles stressing over it all!!
Sweetpea.... awe thank you sista!!!!!! hahaha so THATs how you got all the Bullies!!!! soooo adorable! I did not realize you got shingles over that gf... this is sooo hard for us mammas!!!!!
ochaos.... woooooow I assume Navy BC?? Man GL is sooo cold right now God bless him! and you mamma!! Your an old pro now! You know the ropes! Ill bet you are on a PIR group site and Ill bet you will be a huge help to the new mammas!!!!
Oh my gosh, I'm HAPPY DANCING ALL OVER THE PLACE!! My son completed his training and is attaching to a squardron in CA!! Thank you Lord for answered prayers!! Great gift as today is his birthday : )
Hang in there Ladies, my son was maybe 120lbs, soaking wet when he started out but his attitude was "tell me I can't and I'll show you I can". He went through some really difficult times, not sure if any of you remember the story I told about a yr and half ago when his license plate (RESQSWMR) that was taken by the Chief and told he would have to earn it back. They tried extremely hard to get him to DOR but he won't have it.
Well enough carrying on for now, i would just like to encourage you all to pray for Gods will in their life and sit back and relax cuz...... He's got this!!
sweetpea - I am actually at the stage of my life that I am ready to have an empty nest to begin my new adventures. As a single mom of six it has been tough going at times especially with 5 boys, they thought they new it all at 18, they really had no clue. I already have 4 dogs that have all found me, a bull mastiff, airedale, labradoodle and a husky, all rescues.
I am looking forward to traveling more to visit where my 3 military boys are - ND, soon to be FL and GL, the others are all here in town until next year when my baby transfers to another college out of town just not sure where yet.

sweetpea - I am actually at the stage of my life that I am ready to have an empty nest to begin my new adventures.
