Thank you Jodi, great idea!  I will text him right now and tell him.  I so wish I could be there, but it just isn't possible. Pictures really help!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

woooow okay I hate change... hahahahahah...  but it is the only constant in the Universe!!!!  arrrrrg    So N4M has changed us up a lot...  well, Ill get use to it....

HI yall.... several new ones in here  yea!!!!!!!!

Jodi, I have a question for you....   normally generally usually they can not live off base until E-5 (my B just made that and when he gets home he is apartment diving)  Just wondering how your boy will be able to live off base rather than in barracks ??  Please update me of what changed...  I need to stay current.. and so much is changing these days.....

so congrats yall ....  MOAngel, Ridgegirl, jaxie, MaryKay

Your son or daughter will find out where they are stationed usually when they are about finished with A school ... however...  seems however they are changing things up a bit these days...  my son found out two weeks before grad from A school.....  they find out if they are Romeo or Sierra just before they grad RSS....

Well, and yes... be aware of rumors... they do seems to be going around like CRAZY ... poor kids...  hear one thing and another thing happens... best to go with the flow, be flexible and expect change I think  hahhaha   xoxoxoxoxo  so happy to have everyone in here!!!!

  • Melissa

Congratulations to all of you with graduates - such exciting changes for everyone! Safe travels for all attending, enjoy your time with your son.
Welcome to all our new members - it's always fun to hear how everyone is doing.
I got pictures! My son (currently in SD completing FRS) sent me pictures in SAR gear from his first actual jump and another in flight gear from his turf run. I also received a video of him from his gun run, having entirely too much fun hanging out an open helicopter door shooting a really BIG gun. He looks happy, fit, and comfortable with his decision to do AIRR. It eases my heart to know that.
He is close to finishing FRS, but the other 3 guys in his class are currently on med hold and so while he is almost finished, they are not. Given that, he will either be bumped into the class ahead of him and graduate with them (which could change his class standing, which could change his choice of orders) or he will finish his training and then go on hold til his class comes off med hold and finishes their training, which could delay him indefinitely. Neither choice is fabulous, but I'm hoping they bump him and let him graduate rather than letting him sit. He should know either way shortly. Fingers crossed they let him graduate and he gets Guam since that would be his choice.
  • Jodi-alumni Ship 4

Melissa, is your son a Sierra or a Romeo?  My son is completing FRS in Jacksonville. He has a few more trainers and then he's done too. I hope he gets his orders soon so we know where he will end up. I hope your son gets to graduate with the class ahead of him. I think at this stage of the game they are ready to get out and put into practice all they have been learning. I wish him good luck.

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Melissa   awesome and it will be just the right time and right class!!!

Jody....  pins and needles!!!  Did he have a preference of where he would like to go??

Now it is my turn to be updated by all of yall....  so many changes seem to be happening..  I want to keep up  hahaha so thank you all for your info!!!!!

Happy weekend yall....  I am soooo proud of each one of you mammas, wives, .....   so happy we are here together!!!!  xoxoxo

  • Bayswan

MoAngel1967 - I am here and was at RSS graduation today.  I took quite a few pics and can share with you.  Send me a friend request here and an email address and I'll get some to you.

The RSS graduation was great today.  Our son graduated as "Honorman" for class 1405 A Team.  He also got a Sierra assignment which was what he hoped for.  It was awesome!  Looking forward to spending a few days in the warmer weather with him before we head home.

  • MoAngel1967

Bayswan, I think our boys stood by each other at graduation.  Does your son's last name start with a T?  My son's last name starts with an R.  We are from the same state you are.

Thank you so much!  I would love to have some pictures.  I really wish I could have been there to watch, but it just wasn't possible this time.

Be glad you are enjoying some nice weather.  We are expecting ice, sleet, and snow this weekend.  I am sick of winter!!!!

I forgot to send the email address when I sent the friend request, but I will message it to you as soon as you accept my request.  Thanks again!

  • MoAngel1967

My son also got a sierra assignment.  I am so proud of him!  Congrats on your son earning Honorman.  My son broke one of the records...so proud!

  • Jodi-alumni Ship 4

Congrats to your son Bayswan on the Honorman award and his graduation!

  • C's mom

It is exciting to hear of the ones that have graduated! Hugs to all :-)

  • Melissa

Jodi - my son is Sierra.

Congratulations to your son Bayswan. Honorman is fabulous!
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Bayswan!!  Congrats to you and your family and of course your son.......    his name will be put on the "Honormen" plaque in the RSS school house AND guess whose name his will be right next too??????    MY B!  As he to won it 4 years ago...Did they give your boy the Honormen divers knife with his name on it?  Very kewl thing!!!!  something to be sooo proud of for sure BUT also sooooo proud of all the kids who passed!  Such an arduous pipeline!   Such strength and perseverance they have!!!!  Prayers for the ones we have in there right now in about week 3 i think????  How are yalls Sailors coming along??

MoAngel....  congrats also to you and your family and your son!!!  Awesome that he broke a record also!!!  very kewl

Sierra is GREAT.... that is what B is and he loves it... of course Romeo is also awesome...  very technical.. much longer A school.  They will love San Diego I'm sure... everything there from surfing in the summer to skiing and snowboarding in the winter!

Thinking also about our kids who are in A school, SERE and FRS...  xoxoxoxox

  • proudmama

Bayswan- Congrats to your son! I know you must be so proud and excited for him:)

MoAngel- Congrats to your son. I know that you are very proud of him! How exciting that he broke a record! What record did he break:? Glad that he received the assignment that he wanted.

Melissa-Glad to hear your son is NOT on med hold... hope he graduates soon. Are the guys/gals ill or are their injuries during that phase in the training? How gratifying it is to hear your son feeling happy with his choice to go AIRR. I think as a parent, that is my biggest hope- that all my children feel fulfilled with their career choices.

Jodi- Congrats on your son finishing up FRS...Hoping he will know where he is going next very soon! I think sometimes the waiting is the hardest part!

My son, Eaglemom's son and NavyWife13's hubby are all in class together! Week 3 of RSS coming up!  Any hints from the vet moms as to what to expect?

  • Jodi-alumni Ship 4

    snowskiier, I can't help you on that but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am that this has happened to you and your family. It is sad when that happens ( I am not as close to my older son as I once was) but I hope he gets over whatever caused him not to stay in touch. {{HUGS}}

  • Bayswan

Thank you everyone for the warm wishes and congratulations for our son.  He has had a great experience so far and yes, he did get the Honorman knife.

MoAngel - Congrats to your son on breaking the 800 buddy tow record!  That is great.  Remember to send me your email address and I'll send some pics.

I have one pic of the current B team I will share with anyone who has a swimmer in RSS now.  Send me a friend request and your email address.

We are preparing to leave sunny and beautiful Pensacola in the morning and head back to the great white north.  Wish I could stay until April, might be safe to go back home then!  Stay warm everyone :-)

  • MoAngel1967

Thank you Lydia and proudmomma.  He broke the 800 meter buddy tow record! Exciting!

Bayswan - thank you also.  I sent you my email address.  Not sure when you are headed home, but you all got a bunch of snow and it's still coming down.  We got ice, sleet, and snow earlier, and are supposed to get a lot more snow tonight.  Already canceled school for tomorrow so I will be lounging.

  • C's mom

Just spoke with my son....still on hold :(  I was so hoping for a moving forward update (arrived in Pensacola from GL 2/8/2014)

  • Melissa

Moangel - congratulations to your son on breaking the 800 buddy tow record. My son holds the SAR mile record, so yours is in good company! :)
I attended my newest grandson's baptism this weekend and had a great family visit which included all 4 of my little boys - they are such a special treat for this Grammy! And everyone is back to full health, so yeah!
It was below freezing there with no snow and I returned home to above freezing temps with snow - not sure which is worse.
Here's hoping everyone is staying warm!
  • proudmama

Snowskiier- I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I pray that communication with your son will be restored soon. I read your post and felt your heartache. I wish I had some piece of advice as to how to find your son. I can say-I care.

Bayswan- THANK YOU!!!! It was so fun to see the pic of my son's class:) For those of you who don't know- a mom whose son recently graduated from rescue swimmer school-took a pic of the current class in training while she was on her way to her son's graduation. Bayswan continued this by taking a picture of the class in training while she was on her way to her son's graduation. Should I find myself in the same situation, I promise to take a picture of the current RSS class and pay it forward.

MoAngel-Wow! Record breaking buddy tow! Congrats to your son:)

C's mom-yes... hurry up and wait... is definitely the name of the game! Hang in there! Hopefully, he will be able to look at the "glass half full" and use this time to work out and beef up so that he is fully prepared during some of the more demanding portions of the pipeline:)

Momof4-Welcome!! Best wishes to your SR during bc:)

  • BusyMom13

Momof4, I have one in BC in DIV 811.
  • Saltyocean

Just a question to fill in a lot of blanks.....What is Honorman? Is it from rrs or A school?

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Saltyocean....   the Honormen Award is given to the student--- and not every class....  that is in RSS...sometimes it can be YEARS before one is awarded my son got it and there had not been one awarded for almost 4 years prior........  to the RSS class Sailor who gets no fails, no chits and shows Team Work and Leadership..  It is not awarded easily for sure...  ( fyi.....a chit is like a free pass when a kid does something wrong during a daily workout etcc.. before they fail them... or roll them...)  OH and btw... most kids get one or two during the RSS pipeline.. it is NO shame...  it is just what the instructors give to them to sort of warn them... no problem there!!!!

Momof4 kewl.... that you and BusyMom13 are together in this BC pipeline!!!!   Yall be sure and go up to the Discussion Forum up above this box and read the Path and Phases... it will help you after Boot Camp with some basic Pipeline questions....  welcome welcome to ALL newbies...  moms, girlfriends etc!!!!!  xoxoxo

snowskiier.....   you can find out his ship address and send him care packages..  Each ship usually has a Face Book Ombudsman page... however, to get their emails, the sailor has to sign you up for it...  I wish I could help you more and I don't understand why he cut your family off just because of marriage... if you are in comm with his wife, she can give you his address once deployed!!  I am praying for good things to come for yall!!!!

C's...  well, I can only say this...  the longer the hold... the more time he will have to prepare for what is ahead of him .. and believe me, that can be a blessing for sure...  but it can be frustrating for sure also!!!!!  sheeeesh  however that is not a bad hold time... for my son it was 3 months hold to start NACCS and then 6 weeks hold for RSS...  some have waiting even longer I am hearing!  just remind him and I know you are....   to use the time wisely... soon he will be in the whirlwind !!!

Bays... so glad you had a GREAT time!!!!   xoxoxox

love yall.......   thinking and praying for each one of us mammas and our kids....  hardest job in the world, a mom of a military child!!!!!

  • proudmama

Lydia- Thanks so much for the explanation...yesterday was a tough day for the RSS class... honestly, my nerves are raw. I can't wait for this week to be over. Geesh!

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Proudmama ---  right here hoping and praying along with you and the other boys who are in week 3 RSS.....  it is a hard week for sure..  they show NO mercy at this point.. but also at this point the kids who have stuck it out are starting to know what is up for them daily and are starting to adjust their way of thinking and doing..  like a brick wall, when you come up to one, immediately the brain starts to help you figure out a way around or over it....  hang in there !!!  They have made it this far and that is a true show of strength and courage..

hugs to EVERYONE!!!  No matter where you are in this pipeline... from BC to FRS grad...  its a LONG roller coaster ride for sure!!!!

  • Saltyocean

Thank you Lydia for the info and congrats to your son and to you for such an honor!

  • Ridgegirl

Flight physical passed today, says NACCS soon!

  • C's mom

    Exciting news Ridgegirl!

  • proudmama

Ridgegirl- I am excited for your son! NACCS is an exciting school to go through. Your son will enjoy it!

  • proudmama

MK5Diver- Your post was appreciated. Thank you for your reminder that our guys/gals are expected to uphold the code of conduct 24/7. Grit and Talent will only take them so far- they must be able to be good decision makers to succeed.

Jaxietwo- Congrats to your son for making his way through the pipeline. Starboard D is next ?

Lydia- you always know what to say... thank you for your encouraging words. Thanks for your encouragement! Also, keeping your son in my prayers as he is somewhere out there aboard the Boxer...

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

Proud, Ridgegirl, C'smom, Salty....  hi yall!!!!!!   AND hi everyone !!!  Please give a shout out when you get a chance..  we are all always thinking of each other...  =)     Got a FB message from my B....  it is 2am where he is...  12 hour flight done.....waiting for some mechanical work on his chopper, then the standard...  Post/Pre flight checks then hit the rack ...  LOOOOOONG days for Rescue Swimmers...  did yall know that they are also responsible for all the Pre Flight checks on the Birds....  every square inch must be gone over before and after they fly....  and yes you Rescue Swimmer will be the one to do it!!!!  They know those Birds inside and out and in a pinch, could if needs be take over the flight!!!!  hopefully that wont happen but that is how amazing these kids are and are trained.... ppl think all they do is potential sea or land rescues... no so much more....!!!  okay love yall!!!!!  xoxo

  • Jodi-alumni Ship 4

Looks like I am heading down to Jacksonville next week. My J is graduating on Friday from FRS but still doesn't know where he is headed from there. It makes me a little nervous to say anything because I don't want to jinx it but I did make our airline reservations (so I hope nothing happens to delay it).

snowskiier, you are in my prayers that your son will get a little shove from up above to remember his family. I have a similar type of relationship with my DIL so I can relate. I still hear from my older son (not my Navy one) but not nearly as often as I used to. It does hurt but in one way it will help strengthen your relationship with your younger son or at least it has in my case. My sailor sees how it has hurt me and makes sure I don't ever feel that way with him.

  • Mama~D Ship 4 Div 822

snowskiier - is he a sierra or romeo?

  • Saltyocean

Talked to our son last night who is still in A school--Romeo, and he mentioned something called IA which he said I woundn't llike. --"Individual Augmente".  The only thing I could find were requirements, but there was no real talk of what it  is  ---all very vague. Do any of you moms have knowledge with this and can  you share some information?

  • C's mom

First I've heard of it, but I found this page.... http://www.ia.navy.mil/  there are FAQs on it

  • MoAngel1967

Saltyocean, I found this webpage.  It gives a great definition and has lots of information and answers.  Hope it helps.

  • ALNavyMom

Excited that my son starts RSS on Monday,
  • Saltyocean

    Thank you MoAngel1967 and C'sMom

I found those websites too, but with all the navy alphabet soup and other lingo didn't understand much.  Will talk to son more about it.  He still has about another 9-12 months before finishing training so we have plenty of time

  • C's mom

Salty.., you will be our source for this - I get so confused with all of the acronyms - I was just thinking I needed to create a list to have next to the computer so I could better follow along.

    Wonderfully exciting ALNavy!

  • Eaglemom2

Ok, I have to have some answers and hoping you moms can help me, I've been talking to one mom and I know she is on here too.  With fingers crossed, his graduation from RSS will be March 21.  What time is graduation?  The finals are Monday and Tuesday, will he be able to see us on Wed and Thursday?  I want to be there so bad that I am fighting with the my husband(father of the sailor) lots of activities going on for us that week but willing to give up all just to see this graduation.  Please help this worried mom out in Kentucky.  The other mom that is on here has promised to take lots of pictures and videos but I want to be there, this is a big deal to me and it is a big deal right?

  • proudmama

ALNavy Mom- Best wishes to your son and to you and your family. This class is so hard on us moms and extended family members... the waiting to find out how things are going... is so difficult!

Snowskiier- I hope things get better for you...If you ever need to vent... I have 6 kids..so nothing ever shocks me... send me a pm!

SaltyOcean- I hope you find answers to your questions.

Eaglemom2- I hope you find just the right solution that works best for you and your family!

  • A's Mom

Going to see my son in Pensacola.  Does anyone have any hotel or condo suggestions?

  • sweetpea4

A's Mom there is a Holiday Inn Express in Warrington close to the Navy Base. Warrington is right outside the base is a old section of Pensacola not the nicest area of town. Some of the families are able to stay on base at the Navy lodge don't know much about it. Maybe other families might be of some help!

  • sweetpea4

Eagle Mom don't miss RSS Graduation it maybe the only ceremony that you can attend and they actually have a nice ceremony for. The other one is when they graduate from FRAC. Waiting on my Son to get his flight wings going on 19 months now! Weather, mechanical issues have been quite the problem!!!

  • airmom10

A's Mom - We've stayed at both the Holiday Express and the Navy Lodge.  Both were nice, but if you can get in at the Navy Lodge it's the best!  You're on base and can walk to the beach from your room - really nice and, of course, cheaper.

  • oneproudmomca

A's Mom- we stayed at The Gateway Inn, it is on base, and cheap. Our son made the reservation for us. It was nice, the beds were very comfortable.
  • Melissa

Spoke with my son this afternoon and on the plus side he graduates FRS on Friday! Yeah. However that means I can't go. :( I am so bummed to miss this one though I am glad they are letting him graduate and not putting him on hold until the rest of his class catches up. He will still be in San Diego for a bit though because he doesn't have a billet - if they request just one for him, he has to take it regardless of where it is - so they are going to wait until they have the next class ready and request one for him also and then give him the choice.
In the meantime he gets to hang out in San Diego and do flights and help out in the schoolhouse.
  • proudmama

Melissa- Congrats!! So glad he is moving forward... and to wait in San Diego... what a wonderful base! I visited my daughter there last year... and loved it! I bet he will love it there!

Airmom10-Did you stay at the holiday Inn express right next to base? How is the area? How was the hotel? Did you have access to the beach from the hotel or only from on base?

  • airmom10

Proudmama - when we stayed at the Navy Lodge we were able to walk down to the beach - the Holiday Inn Express was about 3 miles away, but a straight drive to the base.  My son is in San Diego now and hoping to graduate FRS the end of May or June. We are planning to go out there although since we don't have a definite date of graduation we have to just plan and hope for the best.  Where did you stay out there?

  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

HI everyone!!  Seems like the Sailors are moving on and moving up the pipeline!!!!  Very kewl, very nerve wracking!

Eaglemom.....  I agree with Sweetpea (HII SWEETPEA)  go if you can go!!!!!  I was unable too as I was here in TX fighting cancer with my husband and we just could not go...  I did have a friend go in my place and take pix and video  BUT it was still not the same!!!!  So if at all possible GO!!!

I know we have RSS in their final week before Finals!!  Praying sooooooooo hard for them!!!!  hoooooahhhhhh  !

Melissa....  awesome congrats!!!!!!  And like Proud said... San Diego is a great place to be!

    A'smom....  have a great time!!!!!

HI EVERYONE!!!!   Hang in there and keep doing what you are doing.... being the greatest moms (and gfs) ever!  hehe

  • Melissa

Airmom10 - have your son check about staying at the Navy Lodge. It's the closest and (probably) cheapest place to stay in San Diego and right on base.

Okay, here we go again. Gotta love TPTB in the Navy - my son flew last night so could not fly his final flight this morning so he's not graduating on Friday. It's enough to make you pull your hair out! The current plan is that he will graduate with the next class to come up - unless his class gets their stuff together and quits failing flights and catches up with him. At this point I'm not sure he'll ever graduate!
