Hey Happy Mother's Day early yall just in case I don't get on here Sunday. The hardest job in the world is being the mother of a child in the military... and no one understands that better than we do... you will never convince a civilian family .... So my hat is off to you all! Hang in there and God Bless.... xoxoxoxoxo
Hi proudmama. My son went to Jacksonville for frs (Mayport I think) then at graduation he was assigned to a squadron that is a "national" squadron he says. He is now assigned to Mayport as his permanent station. He says he will be there for awhile as his group doesn't have a deployment date yet. Hope that helps.
dbristol My husband just finalized his arrangements and he will be there at the FRS graduation in San Diego, our son is also graduating. He will be glad to get photos of your son as well!! If you want to private message me your email that would be awesome! Paying it forward, thats what gets us all through this! I am super grateful for Melissa, she has gotten pictures for me plenty and taught me some very valuable mama lessons that are paying off at this point of the journey! This sight is amazing and I am so grateful for all of you!!
Happy Mother's Day to the greatest mammas in the world... those of military!!!!!! love yall and deeply appreciate the enormous support that we have in here.. take care and God bless our children... near and far! I see mine on Thursday yipppppppie
Happy Mother's Day to all!!! Hope you all hear from your sailor! Mine called yesterday as he was going camping and was afraid he would forget to call today! Going out to San Diego in a few weeks to see him - Can't wait!!!
airmom10 - my husband and I are flying to SD for our son's graduation from FRS, he graduates the last Friday in May. The 1st 4 days we're staying at the Navy Lodge then a couple of days at Harbor Lights in the Gas Lamp district and the night before we leave at the hotel and marina near the airport. We're flying in the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. Will you be there then? Met Proudmama's beautiful daughter last year there.
Aster - my husband and I are driving and are going to be in San Diego the first week of June for three weeks. We're on the waiting list for the Navy Lodge and we have reservations for the one week at the Nay Gateway Inns and Suites. Our son doesn't have a date yet for graduating FRS; he's close and we're hoping it's during our stay. Maybe we'll meet up!!!!!
Mama D - That is so awesome. I sent you a friend request. I will message you my email address once you accept it. I believe that is how I do it. I thank you and your husband for taking pictures at graduation for me. My son is thinking there is going to be roughly 15 people at graduation. He said it has been a bit since they had one, so it is multiple classes.
Snowskiier- thanks for the info, it is greatly appreciated!! It is so interesting to watch each person's path to become an Air Rescue Swimmer ! How did your son like Jacksonville?
Lydia- I bet you are floating on air as you prepare to see your son! Take lots of pics!!!! Looking forward to hearing your son's impressions about his first deployment!
Aster- You will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart. You were there for my daughter. What a great impact you had on the quality of her life while on medical leave in San Diego. A thousand Thank You(s)
MamaD- yes... I agree that it is all about paying it forward! Bayswan took pics of the rescue swimmer class during her son's graduation and my son was in the pic! It made my day and gave me a great souvenir to put into his Navy memory album..( I keep meaning to start on that...yikes!)
To all those with sons graduating from FRS and being assigned to their duty stations.... Congrats!! How proud you must all be! Thank you for sharing your wisdom and insights to those of us with sons and daughters in earlier stages of the pipeline.
BTW... if anybody whose son/daughter has completed the pipeline... the current administrator is looking to hand off the site to someone who would keep the integrity of the site ( keeping Opsec and preveningt it from becoming an on line store) is interested in being an administrator of a FB site for the 800 division. She wants someone whose son/daughter has completed all phases of training. If this is something you are able/willing to do, please pm me and I will forward you on to the administrator:)
Hope you all had a beautiful, peaceful Mother's Day!
Parents or love ones please try not to miss the FRAC graduation it may very well be your last opportunity. The winging ceremony will depend on the squadron and each will vary. It is very disappointing that not much recognition is given once they get to that point. That is just my observation and opinion!
Aster and Airmom... wouldn't it been kewl if yall could meet! Congrats to BOTH of yall btw!
Proud, I totally agree with everything you said hahahahah I would have volunteered for the 800s FB site but I have my hands so full with packing and moving to Arizona AND this site here (which I soo apologize for being MIA so much lately) but hopefully someone will volunteer.... it is so important that here and on FB we have each other's backs..
Sweetpea.... HI SISTA!!! I totally agree. We missed B's RSS, FRS and winging... ugggggggggg my husband has fought cancer hard for 8 years and during those 3 years of B's pipeline we missed them all due to multiple multiple surgeries, chemos etc.... THANK GOODness there were substitute mammas out there who went for me and took video and pictures (except the winging - heard about it the day it happened =( ) so I agree, IF you can... GO.... if not, try to def get someone there to take photos.. and give hugs.. tho that does not replace the real thing of course it is the NEXT best thing hahahah.....
Well, today (15th) I am getting ready to fly to Colorado to FINALLY see my boy and my daughter!!!!! yea...... he is on two week leave from after his deployment.. I am so excited tho I do NOT like flying.... also we are going to Arizona to look for a place to live in Lake Havasu City... our house sold in just 3 weeks!!!!!!! If and WHEN all goes well and we close the deal on June 12th (my mammas bday) then we are off and running... so yall please continue to forgive me being gone a LOT the next couple of months... I promise I will do my best to get in here as often as possible to help anyone needing help.... thank goodness a lot of yall have kids who are also throught the pipeline and can check in here to answer questions in my absence... yall are smart studious mammas who have answers or will find them for each other...
My hat of love and respect is off to you all!!!! Don't forget to invite newbies to join the site .... you can go to the current PIR groups and let them know we are here... that is what I do... I visit to say HI and share our link .... in fact that might be how some of YALL found it! =D okay love and hugs and I will see yall again soon..... xoxoxoxoxox
Lydia, as long as you don't leave us permanently I guess we can forgive you lol. Seriously, you have helped all of us along the way and we all appreciate it. I know you do lots of other stuff for our troops besides this site so don't worry about us. Just enjoy seeing those kids of yours and best of luck in finding a new place to call home. Safe travels and hope to hear from you soon. Luv ya!
Lydia - you have greatly helped me over the past year-and-a-half as my son's been going through the pipeline. We still need you and hope you stay in contact with us. Thanks and enjoy visiting your son and daughter!
HI yall Son is gone back to SD and we are leaving daughters today for Arizona to find a home... we are well and happy and the kids are amazing... what fun we had for the few days we were together.... that little boy of mine has become quite a fine young outstanding man (as I know yalls are also!) Dont know what Id have done on many occasions with out yall here to cheer me on! xo
Great picture Lydia. He sure has filled out since that first picture from his high school graduation! What a handsome young man and a beautiful daughter too. Good luck on your home search.
Headed to Pensacola for Sierra "A" school graduation- moved from Friday to Thursday, glad we are traveling today. Anyone else have a loved one graduating Sierra tomorrow? I'd be happy to try to get pics if you cannot attend. Send me a message.
Good morning everyone! Just got back from Pensacola - my boy graduated RSS and is going Sierra - class of 16 guys. He really wanted Romeo but the whole class went Sierra. It was so nice to see him and see how mature he is now!
Good luck with the house hunt Lydia!
And Bayswan I may be asking questions about Sierra!
Jaxietwo- Congrats to your son, glad you got to go for RSS graduation. Feel free to ask any questions about Sierra, my son liked most of it. he is excited now to be off to San Diego, on hold, then SERE, then FRS, according to his orders.
Lydia, I think you had mentioned a church your son liked really well in SD - could you mention the name of that again? I'd like to tell my son about it. Thanks!
HI yall...... so we found and have a contract on a home here in Lake Havasu City... yippie ... so excited!!!! Sooo overwhelmed too hahahaha.......
Bayswan.... yes .... my son attends Newbreak Church in Pacific Beach.... the pastor is an OLD friend of mine from Bible college !!! He Steve Bombaci and his wife Karen are amazing kewl folk. It is one of those churches where you can wear board shorts, flip flops and go surfing with the surfing ministry team after church. Super active in the community there... they do so many youth activities... my son went and now about 6 other of his buddies go... when they are not deployed... they love it and Steve and Karen... so please just copy and paste the link.... Newbreak Church, San Diego, CA.... if he goes tell him to tell Steve... Lydia sent him hahahahahah......
Hope everyone had a thoughtful Memorial Day... xoxoxox
btw... Bayswan... and anyone interested... that Church just sent out over 23 boxes to my sister in law Captain Mary Beth Neill... to be distributed to needy soldiers in Afghan where she is currently deployed... (CO Nato Role 3 ) awesome awesome church pastor and wife!!!!!!! =) They are the Pacific Beach Church... (There are two)
Hello all! Just checking in. I have not been here in a bit. My son completed NACCS last week and will be starting RSS Monday. He is excited to move forward, says people are DOR-ing every day. Anyone else have a loved on starting on Monday? Blessings to you all!
Jaxietwo-I'm so happy for your son! Well deserved...:) I had the honor of meeting Jaxietwo's son...what a nice young man! You did good mama!
Bayswan- wow... it seems like just yesterday that our boys started this journey together. I hope their paths cross again sometime! I know it is harder for that to happen when one is Sierra and the other is Romeo. I hope you get a chance to go out to San Diego and visit him. Be prepared for Post Traumatic Separation from San Diego disorder! It is hard to leave that place!!
Ridgegirl- I'm sure your son will do well! He has worked hard, demonstrated determination, and feels ready for the next step! Best wishes to him! I will light my candle tomorrow for him!
Lydia- I know your life is on fast forward right now!!! I'm so excited for all the exciting changes in your life...and to have your son back stateside... I'm sharing your joy! I agree with Jodi, what your SIL does is amazing!!! Seems like that is just part of your family description...service, loyalty, and supporting others!
Hope all is well with everyone....and their sons and daughters wherever they are in the pipeline!
Yesterday was a great day for my swimmer. He and the two friends who graduated from JAX with him earned their wings. I am so proud of how much they have accomplished in the past 2 years!
Jodi- Congrats to your son and his friends for earning their wings! I celebrate with you!!! Does this means he is "officially done" with his training? Although, from what I understand...they are never quite "done"...but I believe he is fully qualified? Did he know he was about to receive his wings?
Tiffany- is your son in FRS or is he finished with his training?
I really think I should start a chart to keep up with where everybody is in the pipeline!
Beth- how is your son handling "the other side" of the pipeline now that he is an instructor?
Lydia- thinking of you as you are moving into your new home! Party at Lydia's- !!! (hee hee) Seriously, wouldn't it be wonderful if we could meet somehow once a year in some "central" location?
My son is in A school (Romeo).... the school that just keeps on going and going and going....
How is everybody doing out there? Is anybody impacted by the recent world events?
Proudmama- A chart is a great idea! One I should do too. Yes he is in FRS (Romeo/Jax) He says next week is SAR week so they will be doing jumps. I work in Jacksonville and have to cross the bridge everyday that they do jumps by. I have seriously thought about taking a day off and taking our boat out to try to watch and take pictures.
Is that bad?
Lydia- I pray everything is going smooth for you. Hopefully you can give us a quick update soon.
Tiffany/Heartstrings How lucky are you? To live so close to where your son is currently stationed, I am so jealous lol.
Proudmama. It sounds like he's still learning but it's more like on the job training I guess. He is loving it out in San Diego. He says he's with a great squadron and really likes the guys he works with. And of course he's close to the ocean so he's continuing to learn how to surf. He gave us a few days notice that he passed the board but since we were just down to JAX two months ago for his FRAC graduation we didn't go to the wings ceremony. Someone took video and pictures so I did get pictures.
Proudmama - I like the chart idea, it would be so helpful with everyone is such different parts of the pipeline. Hope all is going well for your son in A school.
My son is settled in San Diego, on hold until SERE later in July. "On Hold" is better there than Pcola was, he is working at a job, logging flight hours and that seems to occupy his time better than cleaning and re-cleaning did when he was on hold before. He likes SD much better except the traffic and he says everything is much more expensive but he goes surfing almost every evening/weekend and says the weather is perfect everyday. I don't feel too bad for him.
Tiffany/Heartstrings - I would absolutely take the day off and stalk the helo if you could! Sounds like a great day to me :-)
Jodi - Congrats to your son on earning his wings. Can't wait till we get that far.
Good luck to any and all who are currently in RSS. If anyone is going to P'cola for RSS graduation, I never was able to get a photo of the plaque where they list the "Honorman" receipients and I would really like to have one if my son's name has been added yet. Apparently it takes a while. Message me if you're going to be in the school and would be willing to shoot me a pic. Thanks!!
Bayswan- I will ask my son to stop by and see if your son's name is on the plaque- if it is, I will take a pic when I go down for A school graduation which- if I understand it correctly is scheduled for the first week in August. I'm so glad he is enjoying San Diego... That is where my son wants to go...! Isn't is just the best when your son enjoys who he is working with and what he is doing? I find no higher feeling of satisfaction in life honestly,....
Tiffany/ Heartstrings... OH YES! Go and watch the jumps, take the day off for certain! I can't imagine a better day! If I could, I would do that in a heartbeat!
OK... I'll go to work on that pipeline chart! Am looking forward to seeing where everybody is in their training...and subsequent career~
Jodi- I wonder if your son and Bayswan's son are in the same unit? (Is that what it is called?). So glad someone was able to take pics of your son receiving his wings! I am sure one of those pics will be framed and hung somewhere in your home!
Our son started FRS about 3 weeks ago. He is loving being down in San Diego and back in CA. San Diego is a few hours from us, but we are able to see each other more often, which his dad, sisters, grandmother and I love.
Hello again. Week 4 started today for my RSS candidate son :-) He is moving right along. We will be going down for the 4th weekend since they have thursday and Friday off. We will spend the whole weekend. Thought we'd get to see graduation but they moved it to the 11th due to the holiday. Is anyone going for the graduation? I just want one picture :-) Let me know and thanks to all for helping me stay connected.
Ridge girl if you are in Pensacola for the 4th be sure to head down to the city park and watch the fireworks over the bay. It's quite a show. My son graduated last 4 of July and they moved the date several times because of the holiday - so you might just get to see graduation after all.
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer weather.
Hi All! It's been a while since I have been on here. After about a 3 week hold after NACCS my son started RSS just yesterday. Any detailed information and encouragement about this stage would be welcomed and appreciated ;)!!
Hey Proudmama how are you. We got to see our son this weekend at a wedding for his best friend. They gave him leave for the weekend. He is in the 2nd week of A school.

Congrats to him dbristol. I would imagine h isn't too thrilled about leaving warm CA and heading for VA and snow come winter either. He will be closer to you though won't he?

yes Jodi. That will put him only 13 hours away then. He should be used to the snow coming from MI :)

Just because he's used to it doesn't mean he wants to be in it haha. After this nasty winter I'd take no snow for a long while.

Ridgegirl- How's your son doing?

Hope you all have a great weekend:)

Our son started FRS about 3 weeks ago. He is loving being down in San Diego and back in CA. San Diego is a few hours from us, but we are able to see each other more often, which his dad, sisters, grandmother and I love.

Ridgegirl

A's Mom, just tell him to stay focused, work hard and keep his mind on his goal. If he does, he will do fine.
