The only time that you might not get the weekend is when they have duty! they have to stay on base all day.. Like for the next 2 weekends I wont visit cause mine has duty this sunday and then the following saturday :(..

I'm so confused about where my hubby is going first, I've been told he has to go to VA for chef school, CT for sub school, and he seems to think he's staying in GL for something. I just wish he'd get his orders already so we can figure it all out.

Ahhh! Can I just say how off kilter I am that my husband doesn't have his orders for ATT/Techno/A school yet?! He has 2 more weeks of BESS. He can see his orders on NKO but they aren't "final" yet so we can't do anything with them. I just want to get going with getting on the list for housing and put in the request for money to move our stuff. Just waiting around while our supposed moving day approaches without being to arrange anything is driving me batty.

Do any of you live away from your husband? I won't be able to move when my husband goes to his first duty station (we've already been apart for the last year while he was in school). I see a lot of you so happy to be moving and enjoying your lives, and I can't wait to be there someday too :) Just wondering how long it was that you were apart and how you kept the marriage happy until you were together again. The up-side is that I know I can easily survive a deployment now :)

to get on lower base you can get a lower base badge that you keep you can get that at pass and id i miss that badge because i would jut show the guards that to get on base so i didnt have to dig out my ID haha..but to get on pier the boats has to put in and get approved a pier homecoming pass and all the wives or whomever is going down has to get a full background check and to like get a tour on boat the boats will hand out a pass that has to be given back and that to you have to get a full background check

Quick question. We are moving to Norfolk, VA on friday. We are planning on moving off base. My Husband read somewhere that he has to get approval from his command to live off base. Is this correct?

We were told there is no available base housing so were being forced to live offbase, but you still need to talk to the housing office for approval before signing a lease offbase. I have the info at home, I'll send it to you tonight.

food- halfway house, barbies cafe, The crab pot, beths cafe, red mill burgers

site seeing- underground tour in seattle, space needle, do some major hiking it is fun, go to forks even though there isnt reallying anything there you just have to go just cause lol, go to canada since your only a few minutes away, Pike place fish market (throw fish)

so far this is all i can think of but i'll post more.. i am a huge tourist when i go places and all these places are so much fun..

Ok girls MAJOR help... I need to pull off a wedding in like a month and half!!! any suggestions??. My finacee wants a BBQ recepetion so thats what we're going for any ideas???

We had a BBQ reception too, we saved a lot of money by having my grandpa make the bbq. We only had a month and a half to plan our wedding. We had it at the City Park, bought silk flowers and made our own bouques, had my aunt make our cake, used an ipod for music instead of hiring a DJ. If you have any questions you can message me!

Oh and we also saved time and money by printing our own invitations on the computer....we bought an invitation kit at a craft store and then just typed them up at home and printed them.

Thats what I was thinking .. Cause I've seen invitations but I want something fun and simple.. As for music, Thank God I have a very good friend that DJs so I know he would work with me on the price.. I also have an aunt that makes cakes but unfortunatly she's in PR so in order to get her to do my cake I would have to fly her out here, wich is might still be cheaper than getting a cake around here.. Thats what I hate about Jersey everything is sooo dang expensive

and ofcourse I'm doing all of it on my own since I'm jersey and he is in Groton.. But what I do is get pictures of what I like and just text him then we get an idea of what we both like so far he's liked what i've shown him so.. then again he is a guy and when it comes to a wedding all they do is yes us to death..lol

lol that's exactly what my husband did.....he just said yes to everything that I wanted. We also had a friend take the pictures and the only thing we had to do was provide the memory card and he got to keep that as payment.

Now we start the headache of trying to figure out how to get our move paid for so we can have our household goods shipped, lol! So far Personal Property is being somewhat less than helpful...:P

since your hubs is still in boot he'll move first then you'll be next, so house hunting is feesable.

MamaMiri- I'm not in Groton right now ;( as much as I want to be there...I can't be there until June because I need family help when I deliver my baby ;) We're also looking at on base housing as well. They were going to give us a townhome in Natillus Park III but I told them that we can't make it to Groton by May 20th (the last day that they can hold the house for us). Do you like your home? What neighborhood are you in? Did you get the Navy to pay for your travel expenses and your move?
