I think since our kids are performing, we should get front row seats! LOL
  • aggiemom (Corpsman A School)

My son was in the 900 division and graduated on 9/30.  I would suggest sitting up high on the bleachers toward the middle or on the upper deck in the middle so that you can see everything.  If you sit on the front row - you won't be able to see much.  The 900 divisions are in the middle of the arena so you want to be as close to the middle as you can get.  Just a suggestion, but thought you should know!
  • KathyMmom

For those of you coming up to PIR in the near future-  the 900 divs will march in early - around 7:15.  Be there early so you can see your SR enter through those big doors.  :-)
  • jbsgirl1417

And, Kathy, if you are lucky like I was, we happened to run into our daughter when she was going to the head and got a great big hug from her!!!!!
  • DisneyDebi (02/903)

When do the 900 divisions start performing at the upcoming PIRs?
  • ProudMama (ship 2 div 937)

They are in the PIRs the two weeks before their own PIR.
  • DisneyDebi (02/903)

Thank you!  I will start watching the photo's on grad day!!!
  • Gette

  • Gette

Suebal, it's sad, we have become stalkers now.

Is this what happens to most moms when their child is in BC?

  • suebal MM3 USS California SSN781

HOOOOYAH Gette :)  I tell Cameron about this in my letters...I picture him sitting there shaking his head
  • greenoak

  • watson

I hate to be such a worry wart, but I have not received a letter (other then the form letter) or a phone call since my son got there. He is 02/902 PIR 11/23. Anyone else in this division with a phone call or letter???
  • Diddymom Ship02 Div902

Hey Watson, my son is also in 02/902 set to PIR on 11/23. We also received or form letter but our son wrote a very short not on the back of it telling us how tough it is but that things are well. He said they have a lot more responsibility then most so I'm sure it's harder to write. Maybe we will hear from them soon but no news is good news.
  • DisneyDebi (02/903)

While I am not happy to hear that they may not be able to write as often as some of the other divisions, I AM glad to understand why :)  Thank you for sharing! :)
  • WhiteClay Ship 2 Div 913

every Sunday they have holiday routine, which is free time from 7 AM to 1 PM when they can go to chapel, shine boots, write letters etc. My son also wrote a little each night by the red lights, and then mailed the letter on Monday. Thursdays were our mail days (eastern PA) unless it was a week with a federal holiday, then it was Friday. The amount of letters you receive just depends on how much of a writer your recruit is. Mine wrote hilarious accounts of stuff, and family members all shared the letters with each other, which was very fun. I handed out envelopes to family & friends which were pre-addressed to him to make it easier for them to write a note & not have to worry about getting the address correct. Now that he's graduated A school and waiting for C school orders, we only get texts and occasional phone call or skype, but life is not as stressful as those boot camp weeks, so we are all more relaxed!
  • watson

Thanks for the support. I really appreciate all the info form others who have someone in the same division! Have a great day everyone!
  • celinamae

My boyfriend is ship 2 div 909!

  • shhowe

Kathy were do you order the shirts from?  My Daughter is in 909 she only got there on the 15th so very new to this whole thing

  • rhonda9370

Hello all! My son got there on the 15th also & is ship #2 DIV 909 also. I'm reading about shirts & I'd like to get some also. Where can we order these from? I hope everyone is doing ok without their babies. :( It is still rough for me. I just wish I was able to talk to him more. Hopefully this journey starts going by faster. I hope you all have a great week! :)
  • Jellysmom

So when someone finds the link for the Div 909 shirts please post it because I can't find it. It will make nice Christmas gifts for our family.

  • Jellysmom

Diddymom your so right no news is good news. My daughter is on ship 02 div 909 and she told me a girl she meet and really liked already went home. I was thinking oh great she meet someone that quit, I hope she doesn't do what ever that girl did so she can come home. So everyday I don't get a phone call from her is kind of good because I know she made it another day.

  • GaryMimi

Hi everyone - I just found this group - my son is in division 904....anyone else out there - he is set to graduate on 12/29

  • harvhapy29

My son is in 909 PIR 1/20/12

  • shhowe

there is a thread for ship 02/909 under the PIR 1/20/12 group

  • shhowe

also there is a group on the RDC facebook for 09/909 if anyone is interested there. I am really happy to see more Moms on here with children in the same Div.  I hope everyone is holding up ok, I finally cleaned my daughters room this weekend.  I have had the door shut since she left.  I was suprised how much she had already done bfore leaving.  I just could not bring myself to go in there right away. Kathy thank you for the Tshirt information, I can't wait to order some tomorrow

  • rhonda9370

Thank you so much for the shirt info Kathy! I'm ordering mine tomorrow too! :)
  • rhonda9370

Thank you Kathy! I am ordering several for family members so I hope I got the sizes right. I read the women's short sleeve shirt is 2 sizes smaller than the regular shirts. Definitely can't have that because I wear a large as it is. :). Have you ordered the women's shirt? If so, is it true about the sizes? And, can I send stuff back to get the correct size?
  • navywife11

hello all! my husband is in 2/910 :) we are in our 3rd week PIR 1/27/12 anyone else out there?

  • AutumnSunset

Hi navywife11.  My son is in 2/910 also.  He left about a week before your husband though (11/16).  Although I'm a Navy mom, I was also an Air Force wife.  I don't know which is worse.

  • New2Navy(Class 1205)

Hi Kathy - My SR is 02/905 PIR THIS COMING FRIDAY!!!  So excited!! Just waiting on the I'm a sailor call although, looks like if they win Captains Cup I might get an extra call!!! Here's hoping!!!

  • ShowMeSailor

Just got a call and my daughter has been "chosen" for the 900.  Of course I was 'clueless' on what that was and have been researching.  She plays flute/piccolo, signs in choir, marching band experience, etc.  Guess this is a good group for her.  Is this going to add 2 weeks to her bc?  Anyone else currently in 900?

  • ShowMeSailor

    BTW/she is 02/912.....brand new recruit!!!

  • Oceans3

got a call from my daughter today.. the best surprise ever... anyway she is in the 900 division.. so here I am.  I am very proud!

  • Oceans3

would love more information on what it means to be in the 900 division

  • greenoak

Also because they perform in the the graduations prior to theirs you will probably see pics of them if you scan these graduations, my daughter was a flag bearer and we had awesome pics of her.

  • Oceans3

thank you so much Kathy(Momof'IT'Marshall) and greenoak... where do I go to look for these pics in upcoming weeks?

  • greenoak

If you do post on that site do not post your daughters name, they frown on that.

  • ShowMeSailor

I've seen previous photos, they are AWESOME!!  I was so excited to hear this b/c my daughter is going into MC and I thought the last 4 years of band/choir/marching band were all for not when she went Navy.  Her recruiter was surprised she got 900 Div (I called him to ask what it was) and he didn't even know she had that experience.

  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

JOYB: No this won't add time to BC just extra work while there.  Maybe less time to write.

  • ShowMeSailor

Do they get extra phone priveledges?  I was so scared when she called 3 days into boot camp to tell me.  Said she would call next week too.

  • Oceans3

I know what you mean Joyb, when I got that call I thought for sure something bad had happened. I do hope they get to call again. That would make this so much easier for us. :)

  • Terry'saproudmom(Ship02-Div936)

My son PIR'ed July 22, 2011 and was in 936.  He was able to write after the second week and usually wrote twice a week.  I wrote everyday...he loved that because he said it was great to hear his name called during mail call.  He only got to call three times all together.  It really depends on the people in charge of the division.  It seemed that phone calls were what were taken away from everyone if any one person messed up...sometimes phone calls are used as reward too!  I stalked the mail man usually got letters on Thursday or Friday and for a kid who had never writen me a letter before I found he was a great letter writer!  It was a long two months missing him but after it is over you will wonder why you worried so much...the results are incredible and so worth it!  You can all be proud of your sons and daughters.

  • AutumnSunset

Terry'saproudmom, you are right. I know my son is safe and all is well. I guess it is just hard being patient when they have never been away from home like this before. Especially for us mom's who it is a first child leaving the nest, not to mention an only child leaving the nest!

I did not receive a letter today either ladies :(

  • kathyb ship 02 div 910

Hello Ladies!  I am just finding my way around the site.  Thanks to lemonelephant for directing me to this group.  I have not received a letter either...hoping to hear something or talk to our son soon.
