Proudmom93.....if your SRs are MU, musicians, or have drill/flag experience, they will be in this Div automatically....however, if your SR is like mine, and had none of those qualifications, then he/she was SELECTED to that division based on militarur bearing, correct answers to some specific questions, correctly following commands.....he/she could be ShipStaff/Honor Guard....not alot of PT comes with this Div but extra details & duties do. Not a lot of time for them to write, and I've recently learned they get No mail calls on the wknds! But send them mail constantly...they need it!! Hope some of that helped!
Good luck to you all!! Navy Strong Ladies!! :)
Tina, thanks so much for the very informative post. It is a bit discouraging to see that my SR won't be getting mail call on the weekends. *sigh*. He does know how to play some guitar, and he was always part of almost every assembly, video, etc., his senior year in high school, so I don't know if that is what qualified him for the 900 division or not. I am so very eager for his first letter -- if he will even have time to write, which sounds less likely than I imagined. I will take your advice and send mail, send mail, send mail.
God Bless you Navy Moms and your SRs. In my prayers each day.
My son left 11/6 a lot of the other moms from that PIR are talking about letters and calls. since I haven't received either should i guess that because of their add'l duties?
Just got my letter. He is ship 02 division 909. I am proud of him but very surprised. He has no experience in music, other than listening to it. No experience in drill team or flags. So do I assume he must have been selected for this?? Maybe he has talents I wasn't aware of. Lol. Can't wait to get a letter to hear more about it all.
Lisa, same ship and division as my SR. My son did take some guitar lessons, but that's about it for the musical talent! So my guess is also that he was selected!
I got a call from my son in division 909!!! It was so wonderful to hear his voice and find out everything that has been going on!! We got to talk for 45 minutes! What an awesome feeling. Hope ya'll also got to hear from your kids or will get to soon!!
Got our call today from our son who is Ship 02 Div 910. He told us he was sick the first week he was there and had to IV's to be re-dehydrated. But other than that he is doing well and said he is having a good time. He did say he is carrying the Florida State Flag. And he said that the 900 div gets to sit up front where he will be. That would be awesome!
When I spoke with my SR last night (div 910) he said that he is part of the flags but he said he is in the drum line and playing the cymbals.... He has never been a part of the drum line. He spent all 4 yrs of hs in Marching band and plays the Clarinet, Trombone and Tenor Sax. So this is a little diff.
My daughter played cymbals a year ago...PIR 1/25/13. She had never played drumline, but spent her band years playing some serious flute. She said drumline was a lot more fun...and less pressure because they got to make up their routine! It was also great stress relief from the grind of daily bootcamp life. Enjoy!
Mommahead .... Thank you for this!! He is very musically inclined.... He learned the Trombone and Tenor Sax both in 2 months his Junior yr and was section leader his Senior yr. If there was only band in school then he prob would be in an ivy league college....... LOL funny thing no one else is musically inclined in the family!!
OMG..... I just called a call from my son!! He said that it is mandatory calling.... He sounded so GOOD!! I hope everyone else is getting calls!! He can make me smile even if I am at my worst!! I LOVE MY SON!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS AND HUGS!!
I am sorry, I don't know about any other group other than the 910 (mandatory call).... I was at a work party.... My friend grabbed my phone and as I ran out she said its her son who is in bc... "she always lights up when he calls"!! Good thing my boss was paying because I did not even say good-bye!! I LOVE MT SR!!
I'm sure my questions were answered before but I cannot remember what the answers are.
Will Ship 02 Div 911 with PIR 1-24-14 perform at their own PIR or just the 2 before?
If we cannot watch the live streaming of PIRs will it be available to watch later that day? I have relatives who would love to watch, but cannot while at work.
Just spoke with my daughters recruiter and he let me know that she was ship 2 div 914 (PIR 2/7), so I'm doing all the research I can on 900 divisions. I have read that it is a lot harder but have also read that it may but more interesting. Wondering what your recruits (those that have been there longer) have been saying?
Laurajo.... My SR is div 910 and he loves it. It is harder because they do have extra duties. His PIR is 1/17/14. Your daughter will do great!! Check out the 900 groups!!
Just spoke with my son Ship 02 Div 911 He said they perform the PIR on 1/17/14 and their own on 1/24/14. He also said this was the last call until he passes Battlestations! This will be a looooong wait for momma since I've been blessed with a call every week.
I finally received my daughters form letter on Saturday. She's definitely Ship 02 DIV 913. Let the travel arrangements begin. :) I've noticed that some of you have been fortunate to receive phones calls from your SR. I'm curious, have any of these phone calls come from an SR in DIV 913?
Finally got my form letter today. She is on ship 02 div 913. I have not received her call yet either. I will not leave my house Christmas day because I am hoping that will be my Christmas present.
My SR is SHIP 02 DIV 909, PIR 10 JAN 14 and i will be picking him up at 0800 hours CHRISTMAS DAY! The best Christmas present EVER! THANK YOU JESUS. Hello MOMS, i pray that you all get to see or talk to your SR'S tomorrow. Happy Holidays to you ALL!
Hello moms, i hope you all got to hear from your SR'S if you were not able to adopt them. I adopted my SR and another SR, and he was so grateful to get some time away from BC. It was a bittersweet time. I was happy to pick my SR up, and sad to drop him back off. Yes, i cried all over again. These young men are such beautiful future Sailors and they don't regret their decision to be apart of the U.S. NAVY. My other adopted SR was a pleasure and i feel like i have another son there now. He was so thankful and my family opened their arms to him as well as my SR. It was a good Christmas and i thank GOD for all that he is doing in all our lives. I'm very proud of my SR, my adopted SR, and all the moms SR'S on this site. Thank you N4MOMS for letting us share our SR'S, and our feelings here.
My daughter called today and was crying.... she said it was mentally hard and I am worried now.... she has a strong personality and this wasn't what I expected... she said letters were the most important because only three girls got letters yesterday and she guessed I hadn't gotten her FORM letter yet. I will write her EVERYDAY
My daughter said some people did not calll because they did not have phone cards. She had 4 and felt the christmas spirit so she gave them to others so they could call home. She said send lots of letters
Got my first call yesterday afternoon. It was so good to hear the sound of his voice! Nothing that happened over the last two days even came close to those 2 minutes! I felt like a helium balloon with too much air. He said it's getting better, that it has it's ups and downs and everyone is getting along well. Having a list of questions ready was GREAT advice. I was so excited when I got the call I would probably have gone blank! I wanted to know more about his division but he had to go.
Tina
Good luck to you all!! Navy Strong Ladies!! :)
