Clarks Green Navy Mom, my SR is in Div 911 and he performs on 1-17-14, the PIR before his and 1-24-14, which is his. Sometimes they can perform at the 2 before theirs. It is just a guess for the most part until your SR can confirm that for you.
Just got our 3rd letter today. My SR explained why they haven't been able to use the phones since 12/15/13. I guess some of the SR's can't keep quiet. I believe they have been assigned duties that will help them follow directions much better. My daughter did say that they are starting to really come together as a division. She is really learning a lot and she said she will find out her job this week. I am so proud of her.
I was able to spot my daughter performing at last Friday's graduation ceremony! (Montana flag) it was so exciting seeing her! I can't wait for this Friday's graduation!
When I watched the video of the 1-10 PIR I had a great view of my SR singing! Taller one in back row to the right of center wearing glasses. He looked so much thinner in the face than when he left! I can't wait to see this weeks performance! Congrats to all who have gotten/will get the I'm a Sailor call this week!
So excited to hear that my son is in Div 916 and that I might get a glimpse of him before I see him on 2/28/14. I love this web site, so informative. Hello to all my 900 sailors moms!!!!!!
Now hear this, now hear this, the Clarks Green contingent is ready to leave for 1/24/14 PIR. Can't wait to see my SR, wait by the time I see her she'll be a sailor!
Caring mother...let your heart warm you and come to be here for PIR. I live in Minneapols and the weather can be brutal. Just wear layers. A long sleeved shirt under a sweater and maybe long johns (leggings) under jeans and a warm coat and gloves and a hat. We know how to take care of people here in the north and if you show up they will make sure you don't freeze! Promise. Enjoy your "Sailors" accomplishment.
Received our letter today, Jan 24. Our SR sounds good but am anxiously awaiting a phone call. Letter brief, need more info, but am less worried about him now.
We received a call from our SR Sunday afternoon. He sounded terrific - his voice was music to my ears! He recovered nicely from his two wisdom teeth extraction and was eating solids by days end. His BC job is mailman and he is part of the honor guard. So happy that I'll get to see him in the 2/7 graduation as well as his own on 2/28. Also, received two letters from him this past Friday.
I have a question also. Is it true that once you are assigned to a division that you will ALWAYS be in that division? My son is honor guard - does that mean wherever he is stationed for the rest of his service he will always be part of the honor guard? I think I read it someplace but just want to confirm. Thanks!
@Froggy Ship 02/Div 915~ No, he will not automatically be part of the honor guard at his different duty stations. But, if he likes being in the honor guard, he should enquire about becoming part of the honor guard at the different duty stations he is at. If he is 6' or over, he could try and get an interview with the Ceremonial Guard, which is the official honor guard for the Navy and is located in Washington, DC. The Ceremonial Guard is a 2 year commitment which would be before their A school and for almost all of the Guardsmen it puts a 2 year hold on advancement as most of the Navy rate/ranks are done by testing within a specific rate. That means they will not get promoted past E-3 until after they attend their A school. My sailor was Ship 02/Div 903 (PIR was Nov 27) he is in DC now in Ceremonial Guard training. He was the CRPOC of the honor guard for his division.
My son's dream was to be in sp. ops, but he didn't pass the eye exam so they steered him to hospital corpsman. That's about the closest he could get to sp. ops, without actually being one of them. So I don't think he will want to put off HM training for two years to do honor guard. But I sure hopes he considers pursuing the position wherever he ends up.
Hello we got our letter today and our daughter is ship 2 div 919. We've been through this before, our son has been in for a year and a half. I just hope they are not freezing!
I have just finished my Boot camp journal pages. It is a great way to memorialize your SR's journey in boot camp. If your child has graduated Boot camp its a great trip down memory lane. I hope you like them
I have added more BOOT CAMP journal pages. I really hope you gals like them. I worked very hard on tem. Also, I have added some free printables to my blog today you an follow the link from my Etsy store.
Hi Ladies, I have a question for anyone whose had a 900 division sailor already graduate or has seen a graduation live. My son is honor guard - PIR on 2/28. My question: when the honor guard is done being reviewed and they march out of sight to the left, what do they go? Where do they stand for the remainder of the festivities? Can anyone answer? Thanks
Hi Ladies, my son is in ship 2 division 921 with PIR on 4/4. I am so proud of him and can't wait to get a letter from him to see how they are doing. Hope you all have a good day.
