Hi - i received the first letter/form today. My son is Ship 02 Div 911 - he has no music talent at all and was not in ROTC - i am assuming he will be Ship Staff???

  • S’mom

    Hi Moms’-

I just found out today my son is on ship 2 Div 913. I’m so proud of him. I’m new to all of this, so any info would help. I’m so appreciative of all that I have learned on this site and the various groups. My sons PIR is Feb, 2, 2018.

  • Covaslookout

My SR is in ship 2 div 914. His PIR is February 9. I was told division 914 will be performing in some way. Can someone educate me?
  • Covaslookout

He just called! Turns out he's going to be a body snatchers or rail guard!
  • lemonelephant

The Page, 800 and 900 Divisions, within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will be of interest to you since you have a recruit in a performing division

  • Merle

My son is on ship 2 Div 920. PIR scheduled for 3/23/18. Anyone else has a recruit in the same div?
  • Marmee

Merle - my son is Ship 12 Div 920.  I sincerely hope it wasn't supposed to be ship 2 and he wrote it wrong.  :-(    Can they have different ships in the same DIV?

  • Merle

Marmee - I believe that div 920 is only on Ship 02. Hopefully, one of the admins can confirm. I hope I'm wrong.

  • lemonelephant

900 Divisiions are on Ship 02. See 800 and 900 Divisions.

Marmee, I left info for you on your My Page.

  • Marmee

Oh my gosh - that kid.  Everything I've sent has been to Ship 12 because that is what was on the form letter.  Including the filled out form for tickets!  I sincerely hope they forward to him.  ::praying hands::

  • lemonelephant

Marmee, If the Division number is correct and the rest of the address is correct (See 800 and 900 Divisions), then the letters should get to him. Be sure to let anyone else who has his address know the correct ship number and use it from now on.

  • Marmee

I got another 4 page letter from my recruit yesterday.  He's hilarious.  He wrote it on the 16th which was when I was moaning about the wrong address.  As of that date, he hadn't received any letters.  He says he assumed we were using the wrong address (no thanks to him) because everybody else was getting tons of mail.  That makes me so sad - I'm really, really hoping he can call today - I have 50 bazzillion questions - number one being DID YOU GET THE FORM FOR OUR TICKETS!!!  He told me we could send him a very small pkg - he wants a travel size arm charm, a good writing pen and his watch.  And some cough drops.  He's mainly concerned with passing the last PFA and afraid of getting ASMO'd to another DIV for two weeks.  Says he's made some really good friends, one in particular from Chicago who is same rank and will go on to Pensacola as well, so he really wants to pass and move on with his friends.  He says that fellow is like a brother to him.  My friend in TX, a Navy lieutenant, said he will make some of the best friends of his life there.  Looks like she is right.

Do all the 900 mothers know that they might catch a glimpse of their recruit on the Navy's FB page that shows the graduations?  I think in the March 9 and March 16 graduation they should be participating if there isn't a 900 DIV graduating.

  • Marmee

So bummed about another Sunday (and two weeks in between!) without a call.  Hopefully his morale is doing better than mine!

  • alexmom

Greetings! It was great hearing from my son after a long 3 weeks. He’s on Ship #2 Division #923" Graduating on April 13th

  • lisa

I am new to this group. I just found out my son is on Ship #2 Division # 924 I read the page explaining the 800 and 900 divisions. can someone please explain further on the 900 divisions

  • alexmom

April 13 Graduation date. Have you received your recruit's letters in the mail? As of yesterday we have not :( but I think it may be due to the storm here in the Northeast

  • TAT'sMom

Hi Lisa, my son graduated 8/2017 but he was a body snatcher in the 900 division. His job was to walk up and down each row of recruits during the graduation ceremony and watch for anyone about to buckle at the knees or pass out, also he marched all during the beginning and stood watch while everyone came into the graduation hall. To my understanding the tall guys can get picked for this and he did have high school band experience. He is a big guy 6’5” going in to boot camp last June was19 yrs old. Now he’s enlisted AD is his rate and now stands 6’7”. He loves it!

  • AMMominWI

No form letter but I called the recruiter and he told me he is in DIV925 with a PIR of 04/27.  I am sending all my letters to ship 2 DIV925.  Hopefully that is right.

  • proudnavymom628

  • Marmee

Hi proudnavymom628 - My son is in DIV 920 also.  See them Friday!!

  • Marmee

My son called at 4:55 pm EST - he's a sailor!  Tired, emotional, says the whole thing is just surreal.  He's so happy!.  Can't wait to hug his neck.  He said he can't wait to see us.

  • Marmee

DIV 920 - my son leaves for Pensacola.  He thinks he leaves Friday night.  I thought A School elsewhere was Saturday morning.  Did anyone hear anything if their sailor is going to Pensacola?

  • Roberta

Watched my daughter perform in flags Div 927 for her first graduation 4/27/18. Next week 5/4/18 she will get to wear her dress whites. Looking forward to her own graduation 5/11.

  • Roberta

My daughter is a Sailor!!!! Div 927 passed. PIR 5/11/18

  • Boo's Mom

Is the 900 division performing for Memorial Day?

  • lemonelephant

If any of the divisions will be performing, then DIV 931 is the most likely one since that is the senior Triple Threat division. If your recruit will be performing, then he would have let you know.

  • Barbara

Hi all.  My daughter is currently in BC with a PIR of 8/24.  She is in Div 942 and is one of the sailors carrying a flag.  I am excited for her.  Anything special I need to know about this?

  • Tabitha

Hi Barbara she will perform two graduations before her own graduation if I'm not mistaken. Our Sailor was honor guard division 935 we just got to see him last Friday at PIR but before that I was able to watch online and see him perform. Talk about a happy mama :)

  • CPATM2015

Hi everyone, I just got my first letter from my SR and he is in DIV 942.  Not sure what he will be doing in this Division.  I'm hoping to hear from him soon.  I hope I get a phone call soon.  =)

  • Tabitha

Hi CPATM2015 your SR is in a performing division. Did he do band, flags, chorus or ROTC in high school?

  • Barbara

Hi CPATM2015.  Just got a letter from my daughter in BC today and she is in Div 942 also.  Apparently, for this training group, this is the FLAGS team.  My daughter is holding the flag for American Samoa.  So I would assume your son is possibly doing something similar.  Tabitha is correct.... this is the division that performs at the graduations and either does drill, flags, band or chorus.  Here is the good news.... your SR will be performing at their own graduation as well as the two previous and you will get to see him on the livestream of PIR.  Sounds like a bonus to me!  :)

  • John and Yvonne

Hello to all you Moms with sons and daughters in BC!  Prayers for all of you while you wait for them to go to the School of Music.:)

My husband and I live in Virginia Beach, VA. just about 5-10 minutes from JEB Little Creek where the School of music is located. We have been here for the last 18 years and part of those years we have had several SOM Sailors, Marines, and Soldiers in our home. We open our home on the weekends and invite them to come over...on Saturday evening we get together at 5-9. We eat together and play board games, go mini golfing, etc. and on Sundays from 1-5, We have a sit down family meal with homemade bread and dessert and have a lot of fun together. We'd love to invite your sons or daughters over as well. Check out our page on this site to find out more about us. :)

Hi Tabitha, that's the funny thing about this.  He played football and theater all 4 years of high school.  He only played clarinet and bass clarinet in elementary school and Junior High.  He never did choir (he would never sing in public; lol) and he never carried a flag.  He was not in JROTC because they do not offer that here in our area.  I did read that SRs will be pulled and placed in this division for other reasons, as well.  I look forward to speaking with him to find out the details.  Yes, Barbara, I will be watching all PIR's that he could potentially be performing in prior to his own!  This gives me another reason to make sure I bring my camera to PIR.  WooHoo!!

  • Tabitha

Hi CPATM2015, It could be possible that he is.....I think they call them house staff. Last Friday it was a lot of our Sailors division members standing watch during PIR and also directing the crowd so to speak. It was so great seeing, two things I noticed which was really awesome. The Sailor standing in front of us never broke from watch, did not smile or give any facial expressions at all until Liberty was called and then he smiled. It was so awesome. Then my friend happened to find her son (also in 900 division) and sat right in front of him, same for him, never broke watch until after PIR. It was such an awesome experience.

  • Tabitha

John and Yvonne, that is so awesome that you guys do this for the Sailors. All of my family is from that area, Smithfield, Newport News, Virginia Beach and we live about four hours away. Thank you for taking care of our sailors what a blessing you guys are.

  • CPATM2015

Tabitha, thanks for sharing that info.  I have been reading about all the different positions in this Division on the Navy Bootcamp website.  Hopefully, I will get some answers soon.  =D
