Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all I have been enjoying  my new sailor it hard to believe that she has to leave again. I have loved every minute of her. Hope everyone who is traveling safe travels to where ever they need to go.
  • Shannon from Oregon

Merry Christmas Day to everyone.  Thank you for your support during those stressful weeks not knowing if my sailor was ok and on the path for graduation. Yes he was, and he got into the exact A School he wanted.  I was so overwhelmend with pride at his graduation, and also touched by how many families braved the trip to be there with their special sailor.  I felt a real kinship with everyone.  There was one other sailor from Oregon my son introduced me to, and I felt so sad his family wasn't able to attend.  I wish I knew so he could have gotten liberty and gone with us for the day.  I have a photo of him and hope I can somehow get it to his family.someday.  My son was estatic we were there; he was all over his cell phone, a great big, juicy hamburger at Chili's and hanging out at our hotel eating hot tamales (the candy) and drinking coke.  Too soon he had to leave, but it was a wonderful day I will remember forever. Chicago and the Great Lakes area have some of the nicest people you could meet.  My son was congratulated and thanked for his service to our country everwhere we went. May every Christmas be as bright!
  • Nancy

Kim, you probably don't want to have your first and last name on this site. Have people message you. You have no idea who is coming onto this page. Just a suggestion.

  • Kim of Virginia

NDG Groton SECF - thank you!
  • priscilla; FC wife

So glad to have my hubs home with me. He got FC for the AECF. ;)

It's so weird having him home. He stands differently and talks sooooo much. Even when he lays down in bed, he lays down the way that he stands up (with his arms in front of him, hands over each other).

This morning he had on his Navy sweats & PT shirt. Then, he put on his BCGs and said he was ready to work out. LOL.

Hope everyone is having a good holiday with their sailors. <3

  • Niña

My son is leaving today to Groton.  I'm already crying like crazy, I don't know which one is harder!!!!!  I miss him so much already even that I know (hope) is going to be easier because he have his cell and laptop but still.....I have a wonderful time having him at home.  No enough time to do all his favorite food but.....Just looking at him so skinny, tall, so different but at the same time my baby.  Don't matter what they said they still our babies!!!

Cricket....how you find out?  Stinks but a least I hope our sailor get the money back!!!

My prayers to all of the sailor going back to the A schools.  Weather still bad for some areas.

I talked to my daughter last night and she was having a bad day at her A school
  • Lisa GL Corpsman A school

Anyone going to A school in Great Lakes? My son is leaving tomorrow and we are trying to figure out what he can take with him.
  • EDS - USS Ronald Reagan, Japan

</em></p>"">Here is a response after asking about whether it is true that we won't be able to order the DVD:
U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command wrote:
"This is correct. For information regarding refunds, please contact the Navy Exchange photo lab at 847-578-6205."
  • Rose7..Norfolk

My son left this morning to Groton.  He call me and told me that everything is ok. No delays and they pick him up (navy) at the airport.  What a bless I was worry about he getting to base.  Thank you Jesus for protect him.
  • EDS - USS Ronald Reagan, Japan

Oops!  My previous post was in regards to not being able purchase the DVD for graduation.
  • Nancy

Rose, did he call before he left to arrange pick-up? Thanks for sharing this info, my son is not getting to Groton until Jan 3rd.

    Nancy

  • Nancy

Lisa go to the alumni site, we have set up discussions for each school and the 12/17 guys are already there. Their moms can answer most of our questions.

    Here's the link: http://www.navyformoms.com/group/alumnipir121710

  • Nancy

I wasn't clear in the last post, the kids have already arrived at their A schools as their leaves are over since they graduated ahead of our kids. Since moms can call, then we can get questions answered.
  • priscilla; FC wife

lisa: my hubby (div 32) is checking into A school on the 4th for FC. :)

do we have an alumni group yet?

  • nanny2

Nina  so happy for you & your Sailor.  My son leaves Jan. 3rd for San Diego. This stinks about the dvd, my camera decided to screw up the minute graduation started. Nina here's to long, happy & full of adventure marriage.
  • Rose7..Norfolk

NDG Groton SECF......Yes, he call 2 days before he left and they call him the day before to confirm that they have the right information.  Before they left boot camp he have a paper with all the information.  If you need it let me know, I can call my son and get it.  When he get to the airport he call again and they were in the way to pick him up.  He call me last night and said the guy that pick him up was very nice and once they get to the base he take his time and show him the base.  I know like me you are worry about pick up and it was a BIG release for me knowing that they will pick him up at the airport.  With all the stories about kids taking trains, taxi or.....this make the difference on how I feel when he left, crying but in this matter ok.
  • Nancy

Priscilla, we have merged with the 12/17 group to form the alumni group. Here is the link: http://www.navyformoms.com/group/alumnipir121710

Discussions here are set up by schools so that you can get exactly the info you need and I there is one discussion on what they can take to A school. Hope this helps.

Nina-best wishes!! for a long, happy relationship!! I am thrilled for you, you are embarking on many new paths at once.

Rose- thanks for your quick response. We DO have the number, just wanted to know if/when to call. If, for some reason it doesn't work, I will be knocking at you door asking you for YOUR number LOL. So happy to hear that your son has arrived and he was shown around the base. Have you checked out the alumni PIR group that I just told Priscilla about? Some of the ladies have sons who have already arrived and they are sharing their info with us. Very helpful.

You ladies have a wonderful day!!

  • Lisa GL Corpsman A school

Thank you for all of the links. My son just landed in Chicago for A school. We were so sad to see him leave. I was able to take my younger kids to the gate to see him off! When you take your sailor to the airport ask them for a gate pass. You will have to show your ID and his or her ticket. Make sure you tell them they are in the Navy. :)
  • Sean'sMom (ship12 Div 029)

Wow!  Nina-congrats and best wishes for a long, blessed marriage!

I've heard from several Moms about cameras and videos breaking during and after PIR 12/22/10, and now you guys are saying that the Professional DVD will not be available???

  • Niña

Thanks everyone for such warm greeting! Happy New Year to all, may God bless you and your family! And of course, our Sailors!

After the holiday, I will post some videos on youtube and will post the link here for everyone to watch. i have some good videos, not the best but something that'll always be special to us! Happy holidays everyone :)

  • Rose7..Norfolk

Sean'sMom......yes, no DVD due to technical difficulties.

Do anyone try to call to see how can you (sailor) can get a reimbursement?  I try several times and ring but not answer, not even an answer machine.  The navy on FB give the number. Then I try the number on the bill that they provide my sailor when he pay and just an answer machine.  I left a message but I still waiting for a call.  I'm very sad, I know this things can happen, but now also the problem with the reimbursement.

  • iriejennifer

wow that is such a disappointment about the video ;(

wonder why they didn't film it..... oh well hopefully they will not process my order when they receive it... a once in a lifetime event.

  • walker12003 ship03 div028

Ok I need to see if anyone knows who to contact regarding the Keel or Kruse bookfrom PIR 12/22/10 .
  • ISH-MOM

What is Keel or Kruse?  I have never heard of this.  My son was from PIR 12/22/10.
  • walker12003 ship03 div028

Its like a year book we ordered one and havent recieved it wanted to check on it
  • ISH-MOM

I see.  I wonder if there is still a way to order them?

  • nanny2

I haven't received ours either. I found the number for the Photo Lab, not sure if that's who you call but I'm going to try.    847-578-6205

Ish-Mom   if you or your sailor ordered  pkg A in the pics, the keel was included, not sure how it works after graduation.  You could call the Photo lab also.

Walker  let us know if you have any luck, I will do the same.

  • ISH-MOM

Thanks.  I just got off the phone with the Photo Lab.  They were just sent out.  It took 6-8 wks after grad date.  So we should be seeing them anyday now.. They were sent out USPS.  So it might take a little longer that usual.  Keep an eye out for it.
  • walker12003 ship03 div028

Thank you for the info I will have to keep my eye out  for it thanks again
