Its so great that the guys are doing so well. I'm counting down the days!!
The gate parking passes should be available 11 days before PIR. Most likely by Monday, Dec 27th. Just check the upcoming graduation section of the RTC site on that day for the gate pass prompt by your date.
Good Monday morning..... GREAT posts yall!!! I have three days to go to see my Sailor. Its been so long! Happy for all yall who get to Adopt your/a Sailor. There are no "Strangers" in this huge Navy family!
Salma - thats funny!
ericsmom - email Lala Ribbon and ask her. Prob not too late.
Good morning family! Rickysmom, hug him extra for us!! Salma, that sounds like something i would do!! LOL too sweet! Linda, thanks for the photos and have a fantastic visit with your Sailor! Bonnie, you better remember the waterproof mascara in a few weeks! :) 17 is a good number to wake up to! HooooYaaaah!!!
As for the tears... oh yes!!! I had my family Christmas yesterday and cryed all the way home! I did bring a notebook and had everyone write to him so I could mail it this morning, even all the kids wrote a note- it was very cool!! I can't believe 17 more days!
Hello All...So happy to hear of all the reunions that will be taking place over the next few days. Enjoy the most wonderful gift of the season, your time with loved ones and especially those amazing recruits who we have sorely missed. I have been out of the loop for the past few days, battling the flu...Still bedridden but at least picked up my laptop today..lol... hubby now down for the count too, we're dropping like flies around here..not good...looking forward to getting well in time for graduation...Wishing everyone a Love filled Holiday with Good Health, Peace and Joy....Stay safe everyone...
Hell everyone...How can I order a divisional t-shirt? I saw some postings about Poseiden Sportsware, but that number has been diconnected. I would like to order some shirts if possible.
You can tell your son/daughter to order you one. Tell them the size and all of that and they can get you one as well, but you may not get it until after PIR. Uhm...you may be able to call RTC and ask if there's a new number for them.
Got a letter!!!, I was so excited about reading how they worked on a simulator, though saddened when he wrote he is distracted, with concern for his Mom, who sent some time in the hospital last weekend. I had a Kidney stone, and I am home and healing well.
I cryed to think he admitted being distracted, he needs the peace of a loving God who is continues to heal me.
The doctor cleared me for the trip. I can not wait.
ZACKS MOM...we all pray for his peace, I am sure he is doing much better don't worry..I think he knows his MOM is one tough cookie... Glad you are home that can be quite painful!
Just thought I would share my SR letter I love the fact that lil bro wanted to mail himself to "rudr"
zacks mom - great you are better and cleared to go!! whoop whoop
parking passes yes - 11 days before PIR... ours were not available that soon because our day 11 was on a Sunday so we had to wait a WHOLE day... Can you imagine the agony! hahahaha -
HUGS YALL!!! Hi nicole... hey we miss you on the Ship!
Hi Moms, we arrived this afternoon at mother in laws! OMG I am freezing! and I remember I HATE SNOW!!! One step closer to Christmas Day and then PIR!! I hope all the families traveling in for this weeks PIR have safe travels. Then we are the next PIR!!! HOOOYAAA!
Kimber I will give them the biggest hugs from all the moms- when I talked to my son yesterday he said his friend we are adopting will not be having anyone at the PIR and all he wants is a mom to hug him. Told my son don't worry we will take care of him!!!
For anyone with a sailor going over to GL for A School, but who has to wait on RTC until moving over there a few days later, you can rent a locker at www.thelockandgo.com to store cell, laptop, etc...until they are on base. They then usually share a cab with others who have stored there to retrieve their things once on base (assuming family members are not still there to give to them).
There's a recruit training command page on facebook. You can just search for Recruit Training Command. people ask questions and the public affairs answer. Very good info. Except if you post about N4M on there they sometimes delete it. I learned the hard way. They do not endorse any other sites, they say. That's their jobs though.
Hoosiermom...I use that RTC page on facebook.True...they don't want any mention of other websites. The cool thing is they post honor grad names & pix, also the PR pix. I knew my son was carrying a flag n the 12-17 so I was enlarging pix to try and catch a glimpse!!
Yesterday was a tough day for my kids missing their SR. We had our annual cookie day and the whole family was here... I think that since this day has always been about the kids, its the one that hit me worse than even Thanksgiving. Im getting my thoughts in gear today cause I STILL have shopping to do!! It never ends! LOL
Rickysmom, glad you arrived and are ready to see your boy!
Salma, thanks for sharing everything with us! how proud you must be!!
Sugar, YAY for the call!!
Lydia, you are a saint! :)
blessings, family! have a wonderful day.....16!! sweet 16!!
~With Appreciation For Our Soldiers and Their Families This Holiday Season~ "
(I took this from my husbands facebook page he dedicated it to my son, his step father) I love that man!
A Different Kind of Christmas
I had no Christmas spirit when I breathed a weary sigh, And looked across the table where the bills were piled too high.
The laundry wasn't finished and the car I had to fix,My stocks were down another point, the Dolphins lost by six.
And so with only minutes till my son got home from schoolI gave up on the drudgery and grabbed a wooden stool. The burdens that I carried were about all I could take,
And so I flipped the TV on to catch a little break.
I came upon a desert scene in shades of tan and rust,
No snowflakes hung upon the wind, just clouds of swirling dust.
And where the reindeer should have stood before a laden sleigh,
Eight Hummers ran a column right behind an M1A.A group of boys walked past the tank, not one was past his teens.
Their eyes were hard as polished flint, their faces drawn and lean.
They walked the street in armor with their rifles shouldered tight,
Their dearest wish for Christmas, just to have a silent night.
Other soldiers gathered, hunkered down against the wind,
To share a scrap of mail and dreams of going home again.
There wasn't much at all to put their lonely hearts at ease,
They had no Christmas turkey, just a pack of MREs.
They didn't have a garland or a stocking I could see,They didn't need an ornament-- they lacked a Christmas Tree.
They didn't have a present even though it was tradition, the only boxes I could see were labeled "ammunition.
" I felt a little tug and found my son now by my side,He asked me what it was I feared, and why it was I cried.
I swept him up into my arms and held him oh so nearAnd kissed him on the forehead as I whispered in his ear.
There's nothing wrong my little son, for safe we sleeptonight,Our heroes stand on foreign land to give us all the right, To worry on the things in life that mean nothing at all,
Instead of wondering if we will be the next one to fall.
He looked at me as children do and said its always right,to thank the ones who help us and perhaps that we should write.
And so we pushed aside the bills and sat to draft a note,to thank the many far from home,
and this is what we wrote:
God Bless You all and keep you safe, and speed your way backhome.Remember that we love you so, and that you're not alone. The gift you give you share with all, a present every day,You give the gift of liberty and that we can't repay. Thank you from a grateful America!Thank you, God for our liberty and may we never take it for granted
OKAY - WORDS OF WARNING AND WISDOM FROM THIS NEW OLD PLANK..... Im reading a lot of posts from the PIR group who just graduated. Salmas group.... I want to give you all some advice since I have now been here, felt it, seen it did/done it....
After PIR - when your Sailors are out for the first time they will be nervous and uncomfortable. They will not be relaxed and joking around too much at first. Remember they have been couped up and beat down for 8 full weeks plus 1! Dont expect most of them to snap back immediately!!! They wont. Actually, I observed that they start to snap back after gone to their schools for a few weeks. They will see blue sky and talk on cell phones and post on Face Book...slowly they will come back to life. They will and must keep their Military Bearings - that is DRILLED into their heads but they will relax and get their thoughts straight I promise. Im just warning yall because I know you are sooo excited and when your Sailor stares off into the distance you are going to wonder what is wrong. Nothing... they are coming to grips with the civilian world that they USED to be part of but now are NOT! It's a lot to take in --- PLUS on top of that getting hugs and kisses and attention and questions that they have not had in 8 weeks !!!! It will be overwhelming to them just yall please be ware of these signs and do not worry or panic! This too shall pass!
Also, alot of these kids are going to have colds and coughs and runny noses. Be prepared for some to be sick and not feel well!!! Their resistance has taken a beating while they have taken a beating! They will be okay. They can get meds with out the fear of being rolled back now. Encourage them to go to the infirmary once in their city of destination for their A or C schools if their sicknesses persist. They have been in frigid cold weather that many are not use too and working hard in it! Of course they are going to be fighting germs.. This too shall pass.
Just saying that, we build ourselves up for such a joyous reunion and IT IS BUT be aware that they will be quiet, and nervous... hang in there with them! Let them talk when they are ready too! Let them sit and watch tv in quiet if that is what they want. Let them go and do or not go and not do what ever they want! My son wanted to eat Chinese - go to the hotel - put on civilian clothes - show us how to fold uniforms, and fold the towels in the bathroom and talk .... we never left the hotel again until 7:00 that night to take him back and shop at the NEX... When he saw his shipmates he looked like he was happier and more in his element than the whole day with us! Rememeber they have lived with their brothers and sisters and away from you for 8 weeks plus some! THEY will NEED adjustment time. So dont take their quietness or stares personally! Dont panic at their colds.. ALL THIS WILL PASS!!
Love yall and yall hang in there... remember Grad N Go was the best day of my life! Yes it is way to short but you make the best of each minute!!!!
Salma Facebooks Navy Recruit Training site, its a great site.
Bonnie I hear you, I do not want to disrespect my Sons real father, My husband is his step father. He did make his own choice to join them. We were talking about his little brother probably wanting to be in the Navy as he wil be watching his big brother growing up with the Navy now.
Lydia~ Thank you so much for your advice and wisdom. I was thinking how overwhelming this will be for him. Not sure if he is a GNG and not sure how much time we will have with him. Hopefully we will have Saturday and we can relax and let him get use to us again in our hotel. HaHa I think some chinese food and ESPN will make him happy. Bless you and Merry Christmas.
...such great info, lydia....so true! Mine just gazed out the window of the PIR shuttle and mumbled, "wow." I asked what he was thinking, and he said, "Mom-- we have been couped up forever, inside most of the time (winter for his PIR too)...it is great to see the "outside world!"
Thank you Lydia for a really great heads up...wishing you the most amazing visit with your son..I can't believe it has been that long...was his PIR the last time you got to see him? How long will he get to be with you? My heart races just thinking about you seeing him in 2 days !!! Yay !!!
