ok I have looked at pictures for hours trying to find a pic of my son... does anyone know where Div. 033 went for Christmas day.... I have looked every where. He said he was at a church and it was about 30 min away but I done know where he was does anyone know
Thank you New for the link. I got as far as the gatepass page but it is blank. It said to download adobe which I did but still blank..Not sure what else to do but I will try another computer..weird...
Becki, my son is div 33 also. I think I found a pix of him on the Navy recruit facebook page. I swear it is him but my other son says it isnt. He said he went to a Methodist church, but that is all i know.
Yay !! Success, got my gate pass..Thank you New...for anyone who has this problem, I had to restart my computer after downloading adobe and then it worked..
Bonnie - That was absofreakinlutely not me.(THAT WORD WILL NOW JOIN MY LIMITED VOCAB!) I stayed in the car and let my husband go in to get the boys. But when they hit the parking garage and came around the corner I was out of that vehicle in a shot. I don't think I've ever cried such good tears. Not even when I had my three children did the tears come to quickly. It scared one of my girls. I couldn't beleive the change in my little boy!
This is what I observed. My son is more quiet. He had no desire to tell stories. He loved getting his Christmas stocking. First and foremost he wanted a real Coca-Cola, then another, and finally a third. He drinks coffee. He eats faster. He walks taller. He still has a beautiful smile - thank you Navy for the dental work BTW - and he was very concerned about his friend who was having trouble with floating. He's gained 20 pounds of muscle, all of it between the waist and neck and he looks solid. He looks and acts much more mature. He gave me the longest ever hug and didn't complain when I cried on his rain coat. His friend was an amazingly polite and quiet young man. They are from completely backgrounds and geographic regions but you can tell they have a strong bond. It was a wonderful day that was way too short and I have cried more today than the whole time of boot camp. Now, where's that shot? i could use it, and a second as a chaser, right about now.
Happy 18th birthday to my recruit! Can't wait to see him @ PIR. Thanx to N4M for such a great forum and for allowing me to be part of such a great internet FAMILY! I really enjoy reading everyone's posts.
Has anyone gotten BattleStations dates from their recruits? I will start a discussion above and maybe we can get a schedule up there for BattleStations. Please post here and on the discussion group.
does anyone know the name of the Meth. church div. 033 went to for Christmas.. I am going blind looking at this computer for the last 2 days.looking for him..lol..
We got our white Christmas and our sailor home. She is still stuck here. Should be able to go back to her base tomorrow. We are gonna have her car towed out of the driveway this afternoon lol. We went on an adventure in the 4X4 in the snow a couple days ago and my stepdaughter
got hit in the head by some snow falling off a tree. She swore one of
us was throwing snowballs at her lol. There is just something special
about snow in the Mountains. Here are a few pics I took on Sunday.
For those mothers looking for pics, you may not be able to recognize your recruit. While standing in line on Christmas waiting for A. I was talking to one mother who said "I hope I recognize my son, when he left he had hair down past his shoulders and was wearing contacts." After watching several recruits being greeted by loved ones one young man came and stood directly in front of us. Meanwhile we were scanning all of the recruits looking for our recriuts, finally this recruit said 'Mom aren't you even going to say hi". Then the screaming and crying started. She truely did not recognize him with navy glasses, no hair, and about 15 more pounds of muscle. I swear she didn't know him and he was only 2 feet away. Me I knew my girl right away.
Divisions 037 & 038 do Battlestations Tuesday, January 4 through Wednesday, January 5. If they do them in order by Division, looks like 033 & 034 go January 2-3 (rickysmom posted theirs), 035 & 036 must go January 3-4, and then 037 & 038 go January 4-5. Not sure about 802 & 907.
AED- I knew mine right away! I was talking to a dad saying how will know- then mine came walking out and I said "that one belongs to me"!!! We are on the facebook pictures. It was the most beautiful sight to see the smiles on all the recruits as they were leaving the hall with their families. I was crying seeing all the reunions! It is going to be heavenly next week when EVERYONE sees their SAILORS!!!
This was the pic in the Chicago Sun Times of our boys getting their picture taken. They texted the pic the other SR took to me on the borrowed phone. I was so excited to actually see them!!!!
The one with his cover on just put it on for the pic. He knows it is supposed to be off but was showing how proud he was of his uniform to Mom. They have put on 16 and 14 lbs. Which they desperately needed!
They look so handsome in their uniforms. My son was very proud to be walking about town in his uniform. At dinner a person came up to him and thanked him for his service to our country. He was very touched by that.
rickysmom: Wait until after PIR when you are out and about with your son in his blues...the community there is so great about thanking the sailors...makes them feel so great! Some customers even pay for their meals. Such a warm town. They love their sailors!
I have started the BattleStations schedule at the top of the "BattleStations" discussion page above. Waiting to hear from someone in 35 or 36 and 907 for their dates. Please post here and up in the BattleStations group posts and I will add to the schedule at the top of that page.
Captains Cup is the Sat. before PIR. It is a fun day of athletic competition between divisions...a nice break for the new sailors/recruits. Therefore, there are no BattleStations on Fri or Sat nights so that all can participate in this.
Need more confirmation on BattleStations dates. Have been told both Sun and Mon nights for 33+34. 802 was indefinite as well. So waiting to see dates posted here and on BattleStations discussion group above to finalize a schedule. In the meantime, schedule posted is VERY TENTATIVE!
I don't know anything for sure, but a few weeks ago when we received our one call, our daughter said that their only other scheduled phone call would be Jan 4th. I can only assume that this is the " I am a SAILOR" call, which would put Div 036 doing Battlestations on Monday the 3rd.
Salma- that is about the same info I got from mine also. Oh well it does not seem that we are going to find pictures of Christmas. But we will be seeing them next week. :-). Wow that is crazy about the reaction to the shot. I hope he is ok. See everyone soon
Good morning All --- Yes Battlestations are up and then Captains Cup! whoo hooo! Awesome great for them... Okay but now listen... funny story about the "IM A SAILOR" call..... so Im all pumped up us moms were on N4M all day just wondering when we would get that call that precious wonderful call.....after all we have been here waiting for 8 weeks for that call!!!!!! well - we were all on line telling each other when our calls were coming in so the rest of the Divsion would know to sit tight. So finally that evening the 800s started calling...... that beloved area code was on my cell.... I answered HOOOOOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAAAAAA buddy!!!! expecting him to be all hyper and excited and SHOUT Mom Im a Navy Sailor.... Nope not a word... Just Hi mom......................................... so Buddy do you have something you want to tell me.... Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm wellllllllll we passed BS ........... okay buddy so does that mean you are a Sailor now......... ummmmm yea I guess so...... Anyway he was sooo tired that he did not even care at that moment! hahaha So if your Sailor does not sound as excited as YOU are... dont panic... They are up for a LONG time... all night! The pride and excitement comes to them at PIR
My son told us he was at a "Lodge" 45 minutes away from bootcamp for Christmas. Well after doing some research I found a McHenry Masonic Lodge that adopted sailors for Christmas. Here is the web site: http://www.mchenrymasons.org/
Now I am waiting/hoping that they will post some pictures. There are pictures from last year when they hosted...wish I could see this years before we depart for graduation.
According to what my son told me, today is the last PFA test, the one that counts. Let's pray for all our Recruits to pass. I know the run is one of the things alot of them worry about. Not sure if they all do the PFA test today or just his Division but praying for them all to pass whenever they take it. Thank all of you again for your support and encouragement. I couldn't have made it this far without you all. Can't wait to meet everyone at the Meet n Greet. Only 8 more days HOOYAH.
Kelly..there were 75 recruits at The Elk Lodge in Whiting Indiana..thought that might be where your recruit was. They were so good to them. My recruit kept calling it a Lodge and told me the town so I googled it and sure enough it was on their event calender... Hope this helps....
Sending good wishes to all for good health, a successful BS and safe travel to graduation !!
