It's 2011 !!!! Yay...A wonderful New Year and the beginning of an Amazing New Life for our Recruits..Our graduating class, 1-7-2011 are The First Wave of New Sailors this year !! Pretty cool....Congrats. to All....xoxoxoxoxo
GOOD morning and happy first day of a NEW YEAR. woooow yall are blessed to bring it in with your Sailors! hooooyaaaaa
theresa....Blue star if you have a family member active duty war time... gold star is if the loved one is deceased ... dont want that one!
Man just a few days and your suitcases will be sitting by your front doors! Im soooo excited for yall... just remember to check that list below that jessicaB posted! and the blues do need lent brushes.. my son needed his when he wore his the other night... cat hair... not saying yall are taking your cats hahaha but those blues pick up lent easily!
Love yall and am soooo happy that yall have made it... you have rocked, you have held on, you have held up! You are Navy Moms/wives/gfs! Welcome to the Navy family.... Its a long road that we have ahead of us but all together we can do this!
Theresa: Did you mean birth certificate for 12 and YOUNGER? Yes, that is true. They may not ask for it, but you need to have it. 12 and OLDER need a state issued picture ID card from the DMV.
Thanks Dianne the family guide say that all children need soc sec card/photo id/ birth cert. 12 and younger refers to weather or not they count as a guest.
Here is a flag link for people Blue Star Curious, I personally missed all of the discussions about them many moms are ordering I know.
Lastely found this great t-shirt and navy goodies site. It has alot of great Navy Daughter items and many great other items
I have a 16 year old coming. She doesn't have a government issued ID. She does have a learners permit (no photo) High School photo ID +ss card. The form letter states this with driver's license, adn passport as options. But the family guide says
"All guests, including children, must show valid identification (photo ID, Social Security card, or birth certificate). Children age 12 and younger do NOT need to be on the access list and will not count toward the maximum number of guests" This is a little confusing. I'm just going to bring her learners permit, HS photo ID, SS card and her Birth Certificate. I hope I don't lose them all..
Remember, for those of you who got a flag, you can officially hang it on your front window after your call on Tuesday saying that he/she is a sailor!!!!! Mine is ready!!!!!
Salma-I heard Giordanos is the best and they have eat in, delivery and take out. So just in case our SR don't want to go out there are other options. We are staying at Springhill Suites and they have a link to their website with the menu etc. There is a Grand Avenue location. Someone on the PIR forum also recommended it.
I would like to meet the woman, family that took my daughter out on Christmas day. We have your phone number, but I don't want to bug you by calling you. If you are on this website and know how she is, you picked her up with your daughter, her name SR Niskern (kasee). you were so generous with you phone and everything else you did for her that day, THANK YOU SO MUCH, for giving her a good Christmas.
I hope I get a phone call after BS, and she is NAVY. Nothing but crying , of happiness. It would break by heart if she didn't call me. I have to share my time with her with her boyfriend. I like being number one in her life and not sharing with anyone, I guess I have to get used to her growing up and mom and dad aren't number one any more. that sucks. taking a back seat is not easy.
We'll be flying out of Richmond, VA on Thursday morning and hopefully arriving at Ohare about 1:00. We'll be staying at the Residence Inn.
My 15yo daughter was told getting her ID mailed to her from the DMV will take 7-10 days and it only took 2. God answers prayer in all things according to His will.
The weather is looking mild for the week - another answer to prayer.
Now lets just pray for battlestations and all those sailors callling home this week!!
Is anyone else staying at Springhill Suites? We should get together after or before the meet and greet. We get into Chicago by bus around 2 so should be checking in around 3.
I have the address & ph. # for Giordanos in my "PIR packet" because I KNOW that's where we'll be eating next weekend! WOW...next weekend...sounds surreal!
Hi Can someone please help, I'm trying to send a message to Mama G, we are friends, but when I sent the message I get this comment "Mama G has chosen to moderate her comments" does this mean she's not getting my comments?
One more questions if I send pictures to my friends are the private or can anyone see them. I have pictures of our girls I want to share with just Mama G.
We are staying at the Embassy Suites in Deerfield. Its a little way out but its in the middle of everything we would like to do. The hotel has a very large lobby for us to sit around if that is what our daughter wants to do. Anybody staying there?
Are Battlestations on Monday for everybody scheduled for PIR on 1.7.11?
Don't want to miss the call. Need to find out if he's wanting to do sight seeing or laying around the hotel room. I've gotten the same pizza advice from friends who have relatives in Chicago. Flying out from California on Thursday. Staying at the Sleep Inn. Seems I have some warm clothing challenges :-)
Jessica Thanks for the information how do I send a private message. I just found the messages that were left on my page today, until now the only thing I read on my page were the comments I left. This site is complexed.
Vinny's Mom- Divisions 037 & 038 will be doing Battlestations Tuesday night, January 4th. You should receive your "I'm a Sailor" call sometime on Wednesday, January 5th.
Thank you SO much for the information! I've really been in the dark since my son left. Just found this website a few days ago. Now I'm more informed and thus can really get excited (and nervous).
Vinny's Mom ~~ Hi, My son is also in ship 12 div 037! If BS are on Tuesday I may miss his call on Wed. since I am going to be on a plane to Chicago in the morning!!
Maybe he will call Wed. afternoon.
I was hoping their BS would be on Monday and get a call on Tuesday, oh well.
just making sure everyone is informed!! :) 4 days!!!!!

this is the only night that they offer a free meet and greet reception so it cannot be changed but you need not be a guest in this hotel to attend. I will be staying there though. We can bring in a cake if we want for the kids who had birthdays during boot camp... :)
Also - I've heard conflicting advice on taking the shuttle to the base, vs. driving our rental car. Car is easier? Shuttle is easier? Anybody care to chime in on the best mode of transportation? :)
Central Coast Mom: You will get good reports on both...however, we took the shuttle when there in Feb. Wonderful. Left Residence Inn (our hotel) at 6:30 and we were in the bleachers in PIR Hall by 7. More of a choice of seating that early, although the top bleacher in our division section was already taken. The shuttles (actually taxis) bypass the line of cars. And with the cold weather it it was nice not to be sitting on the road...a friend who had been there the same time a year earlier told us not to consider anything but the shuttle (hers was from Courtyard) and I'm glad we took her advice. We picked another up to return right by the front gate. They run for a couple of hours after PIR ends...plenty of time to go through the NEX before going out there.
Also, Central Coast Mom: Since you are staying at Residence also, they give out a packet when you check in with a list of restaurants/attractions in the area, etc. You can specifically ask them about the steak restaurant you are looking for! Don't forget that they have the free hot buffet breakfast in the lobby each morning! :-)
Got a call from my son today Yay!! Sounded very tired but good. He was a bit hard to hear but he said his div took first place in captains cup and so did 907. He was saying something about coed and all male and so there were 2 separate ways of winning but it didnt make any sense to me and I didnt want to keep saying, What? lol..He actually told me when Battlestations are and I know most of you will understand that somehow my mind went blank on what he had said by the time we got off the phone..UUUGGGHHHH..I think he said monday into tuesday but not sure..sorry !! If anyone else gets a call hopefully they will fill in that blank for us..hahaha..I guess they are all talking about Giordano's because that is where he wants to go too..Hope he calls tuesday because we are flying in on wed...don't want to miss that call !! Sending Lots of Good Wishes and Prayers for Battlestations, good health and safe travel for all...
Hy Moms...sorry if I'm late on this nfo (ya may already know it) but there's a battle station 21 group on n4ms. It has a partial video of what our kiddos will be going through. Let's pray that they eat well and rest so they kick butt on this final test !!
Hi Bonnie - flying in from San Luis Obispo, CA!! And I guess we'll see you at the Residence Inn. We'll be getting in on Thursday afternoon - praying for good flying weather. Just four more days!
YEEEAAAAA! Just got a call from my son. Short but sweet. Updated the final list for graduation. I was a little worried, because his aunt and uncle are driving from Ohio and she isn't really well enough to stand outside and wait for a seat. And he said Yes they did get Captains Cup and a 5.0 on inspection. Got a real good chance at the Hall of Fame. I am so excited! He also said that he doesn't leave till Tuesday. Bummer! I thought I was doing good by leaving on Sunday morning. I may see if I can get off of work on Monday, too. Then I could try to change my ticket, or just get a new one way back to Florida!!

Kimberlie I think if we really wanted to know we could post question on FB RTC site. It makes sence that they are focused on everthing else, not us!
I read that Birth Cert's for 12 and older without id's not necessary for my 2 year old, can you confirm?
