  • AmyB

Hi everyone-so glad you are getting phone calls.  Does anyone remember posts on this site a while back about what is in the Drill hall while waiting for the ceremony to start?  ....something about going so early before any places were open for breakfast and maybe coffee was available etc?.... just curious as I will have teenage mouths to feed regularly:)
  • Ms. Ampi USS Germantown

    Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!  one hour phone call.
  • cb

So happy to hear you are all getting phone calls!   Looking forward to getting one on Tuesday.   Can't wait to meet you all and see my son.   So glad I found this web site when I did.   I know I'll need all the support I can get during the next phase in SD.   Thank you all for being here.  :)

Here's the direct link to the Battlestations video.  My son just called and they are now hanging out wating for Battlestations.  He said there is not much to do until then but the floors are sure clean.    He is excited for Monday night and asked for prayer that their team will work well together.  Teams are given out tomorrow and they will have some time beforehand to meet before heading into battle.     Sounds like he is looking forward to Chicago Pizza.

Much thanks to Star Bucks and the movie theatre that treated our recruits for free drinks and a showing of True Grit on Christmas - hadn't heard that before.

This is amazing how many phone calls we have been able to get!  Thank you RDC's - I thank God for each of you and all your hard work over these past 2 months.    Looking forward to Friday!

  • rickysmom0403(ship 12 div 034)

yea!!! Phone call- he is so excited about Battlestations!  He said have your phone ready on Tuesday when I call!  I assured him I would! He can't wait for the Pizza too!  He said he went to Mass for the last time as SR!!! next time he goes he will be out of BC! Sounded really happy!

Carly Rae my son knows your guy!

  • BADma

My boy stated that he felt prepared for battle stations because the chiefs told 'em "if you've paid attention all alongh you shouldn't have any problem".  My feeling is that 907 has DEFINITELY learned teamwork (Captain's Cup...hoooyah), they've had practice AND they are BRIGHT kids...calm heads will prevail.

Send up your prayers and positve vibes,moms..

    Tracy

  • D~W~G

    GOOOO NAVYYYY!!!!
  • diannep

Amy, they do have refreshment tables at the end of the PIR Hall where they sell coffee, etc, small snacks.  Not sure all they sell...but make sure that your hotel doesn't have some kind of breakfast snacks on that day.  They are used to early PIRs so they may have something there too.
  • diannep

NavymomGG:  There is an all-male division winner for Captains Cup as well as a mixed division (coed) winner.
  • NavymomGG

Hahaha..Thanks Diannep..I got so flustered talking to him and  it was a bad connection so I didn't want to waste precious minutes getting clarification....I knew I could come here and ask for help and one of you angels would fly to the rescue !!!

  • navymom4e (ship12 div038)

I am just getting sooooooo excited reading everyone's posts!!!  I am flying in on Thursday and will probably go straight to MNG~ can't wait to meet all of you!

Vinny's Mom- I'm coming from CA too- they just don't make warm enough clothes here! ha ha  I'm going to freeze!!!

  • julied (Ship 03 Div 234)

Central, we are also staying at Residence and I have heard take the shuttle it is easier getting in and out.
  • ericsmom (ship12 div033)

Anyone know how far the Ramada is from Springhill Suites???
  • Val-ACD-(ship 12 div 034)

We just called the Residence Inn and the shuttle is $6 round trip.  They start it at 6:30 and they let you off right at the gate.    We will have a rental car for afterwards but will do the shuttle for PIR for convenience.    Look forward to seeing you at the Residence.
  • ericsmom (ship12 div033)

Anyone know if Springhill Suites has a shuttle?  I think they do.
  • stevensmom

does anyone know if the sailors who have A school in great lakes whether or not they will get liberty for the weekend..my flight home is early sat , but if my son gets liberty I want to be able to take a later flight home..will they let you change flights if you wait until the same day to do so?? I already paid for it through priceline.com...
  • AmyB

Yes Springhill has a shuttle.  Same here-Shuttle for PIR, rental car for after.
  • ericsmom (ship12 div033)

Thats good. I heard that it is better to take the shuttle.  Easier, and they know where they are going too.  I cant wait.  4 days!!!!! I can hardly believe it.!!!!
  • scuttlebutt1015

We will be staying in a hotel that dose not have a shuttle. Is there any place we can catch a shuttle or are we SOL. we are renting a car, but it sound like every one is saying the shuttle is the way to go.
  • scuttlebutt1015

navymom4e, we are coming from Texas and it took us a long time to find worm cloths. I just hope they are worm enough.
  • scuttlebutt1015

no phone call yet, but I'm glad some of you did, that's great. helps us too that didn't get a call yet. It lets us know whats going on.
  • scuttlebutt1015

    thank you JessicaB-Sailor Mom
  • Central Coast Mom

Thanks for all the input - the shuttle it is!! Thank you all - hooyah! Just four more days!
  • ericsmom (ship12 div033)

    scuttle, where are you staying?
  • diannep

stevensmom:  Yes, the GL A School sailors should have weekend liberty.  If they are GradNGo (move over right after PIR), they may even have overnights.  But for sure they have daytime liberty with you.

  • D~W~G

    salma are the cabs expensive?
  • D~W~G

Dianne, I am worried about my 2 year old at the ceremony. is there a place in the background of the hall where he can run around just a little until ceremony starts and maybe I can leave my purse in the seat I choose.  Also what about a stroller, are they allowed?
  • Lydia (For B - The Sea is Ours)

theresa...  there are lots of goings on and ppl walking about that first hour and half while everyone is arriving so I dont see why you and your two year old could not walk about a little in the auditorium.  Have one of your division friends hold your seat for you.  Dont leave your purse unattended.  Not sure about the stroller.. I saw wheel chairs and I could swear I did see strollers but can be sure about that.  The front of the bleachers on the floor is reserved for handicap wheel chairs...  Im sorry I just dont recall about strollers.  Perhaps Jessica or Diannep will recall on that.

To the new moms I see on here..... be sure to RSVP for the Meet and Greet if you have not already.

Hope everyone is having a great Monday getting back into the swing of things from the holidays and preparing for your journey to GL!!!

  • D~W~G

I know channeling energy, I sometimes almost feel like we have that mother bond, If they are pumped I am pumped, when he is tired I am tired, when they had gas training I was pretty light headed...JUST Kidding.  Thank you, my little one is alot Like A, my SR, very very very active! Good for your daughter. Is she going to school in NY? My sister lives in NY-Tribeca
  • D~W~G

Thanks Lydia, I did not know about he seperate bleachers. Does anyone know how many people are going to be in this graduating class? So how many days is everyone going to get their SR's?

  • Kimber Ship 12 DIV 035

Good morning!! 3 days, that does make it a good morning! I have over 80 who have rsvp'd for the meet and greet. Good crowd! I have checked in to a  few bakeries in town to get a cake for the birthdays that the kids had while in boot camp and those throughout the year that we will not get celebrate with. If you are interested in this, please shoot me an email. the cost of the cake would be between 30 and 70 dollars, depending on the baker and quality of cake and we could split up the cost. I will order it today if i get enough response. Thanks everyone!

    Have a great Monday! :)

  • NavymomGG

Kimber..That is great..Count me in !!! Thank you for thinking of it and taking care of it !!

Singing Happy Birthday to our "Sailors" as a group, regardless of when their birthday actually is or was, is a perfect example of what you are all talking about with regards to "feelings" and intuition..It is the "energy" we send out and whether we realize it or not, we all feel it from each other,ESPECIALLY those we Love and are connected to.. When it's good, It's like a big, energetic hug !! So important to try and keep it positive !!

  • Kimber Ship 12 DIV 035

well, i ordered the cake anyway! LOL! it came to $60 and some change. I will get it on the way in to the hotel. Its going to be a nice one, worthy of "cake boss" haha! Well, maybe not that great... :) thanks NavymomGG for helping out. :) im sure more will as soon as they see the posting. :)

I will have name tags for everyone to fill out, hope thats ok. that way we will be able to recognize one another the first time around. :) Im really getting excited. My heart is just thumping away.

    Blessings!

  • idahojeep

Kimber - thank you and you are awesome to plan all of this for us!  I will catch you when we get to M&G for the cake.  Our plane does not get to Milwaukee until 4:30 so I may be a bit after 6pm.

I can't believe that countdown clock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NavymomGG

YAY !!! I am so excited...My heart is fluttering away too..hahaha.Thank goodness for the name tags, in my opinion it would be great to wear name tags everywhere in life...would save some embarrassing moments..lol...
  • diannep

Theresa:  Yes, strollers are allowed, but discouraged for space sake.  But they are allowed and are there.  What many did when we were there was:  Before the ceremony, they took the kids down to the far end of the hall and let them run around...I loved watching them...many were in little Navy outfits and so adorable!  I'm sure if you do this, someone there will save your seats for you...N4M's are like that, you know???  HA!  This is such a happy time...for all....and the little kids are all a part of it!  He'll be fine!
  • kimberli61

Hey all!!  I don't know about you....ahh, YES I DO!......my feet aren't touching the ground, I can't concentrate on the littlest thing, and all I want to do is jump in the car right now and hang out at the gate like I did when I was a teenager waiting for concert tickets!! :)...I'm sorry for the late reply on the Meet and Greet, I would like to RSVP if it's the one at the Ramada Inn.  That's the one I was told about and why we made reservations there...please let me know if this is correct as I can't wait to meet you all!!

  • Kimber Ship 12 DIV 035

thank you bonnie and thank you idaho!! :)
  • Kimber Ship 12 DIV 035

kimberli, i will count you in, do you have guests coming with you? they are all welcome. and yes, its the Ramada. :)
  • NavymomGG

    We leave wednesday for Milwaukee...
  • CarlyRae (ship12div034)

bonnie-please ignore the personal message I sent with the friend request! I thought it was you who posted about having extra room but, i didnt read back far enough! sorry!
  • CarlyRae (ship12div034)

The reason I asked for prayers the other day was because I lost my debit/credit card on new years eve. I have my rental car reserved on that card. The bank gave me a temp one to use but it doesnt have my name on it so the rental place cannot use it. I do not have another card to use. I am calling them today with my "mom" to see if they can run her card over the phone. THIS COULDNT HAVE HAPPENED AT A WORSE TIME!! Murpheys law though right!!

If the rental car co wont take her card is anyone flying into milwaukee on thursday after 2pm?! Or leaving from there on monday anytime?!

  • Kelley (Ship 12 Div 036)

Why is the countdown clock so slow....Oh it's just my impatience...lol.

We leave on Thursday for Midway airport, staying at the LaQuinta, departing on Saturday, our son is also leaving for Pensacola on Saturday.

Congrats to Ship 12, Div 036, and all other sailors/shipmates 1-07-2011

  • CarlyRae (ship12div034)

it would just be me and a big suitcase. my plane lands at 237pm (if the weather cooperates)
  • idahojeep

We fly out on Mon. at 10 am.

  • D~W~G

Hey all what do you all think of saying a blessing at the meet n greet for our new sailors and their families )US).  I am not a speaker but perhaps someone is ??

Carly Ray I was the one who said somthing about having an extra seat, but now I too am having a hard time with the deposit that is going to be required for me to rent...arrrggggh it is always somthing. If I get this worked out You are welcome with me. Originally I had planned on my brother picking me up at the airport and us coming to graduation together but alas I am on my own due to some urgent personal buisness, he must attend to.

  • D~W~G

Oh Carly I am coming into Milwaukee at 12 noon and leaving tues about 5:45
  • CarlyRae (ship12div034)
