aVOL2, when you or someon else gets the form letter confirming that PIR date, let us know and FTLW or ellen will create the group for that TG.

My son left 9/3.  Received the form letter today. PIR 11/1.  Ship  13 Division 411

got the letter my SR is ship 03 DIV 415 PIR 11/01/13

Can a Navy veteran attend PIR or do they have to be listed on my son's access list?

only people on the list can get into PIR

I was just wondering do we need to dress up for graduation?

josephine, you willsee people wearing everything from very casual to very dressy. This is an important milestone for your Sailor and the new Sailors wil be wearing their dress uniform. I believe that the occasion calls for business casual or dressy church wear. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend.

Hello.....I'm so new to this Navy stuff!  I got my letter today from my son. His PIR date is November 8th.  His ship is 14 and his division is 426.  Can anyone tell me what those numbers mean?  Thanks!

BethD, Ship 14 is the ship he is housed in and division 426 is his training division. That is also part of his mailing address. Everything he does will be linked to his Ship and Division while in boot camp!

Got our letter today! She is Ship 12 DIV 423. PIR 08 NOV .

Yeah! Another one in my daughters div! My daughter is ship 12 div 423!

She has been making them for the PIR groups for a long time and is one of the N4M "vets" who posts in the PIR groups.

If you can go to Sarge's meet and greet I highly recommend it.  It was a wonderful evening 10/10/13.   Some PIR groups have state basket raffle.  The baskets that were made by Mom's from there home state's, brought in enough money to cover all of that nights expense and part of the following weeks meet and greet. He also ask for donations to help with the cost.  Please donate if you can.  

Bring a pen and paper to right down the info he has to share.  The shuttle service he provides, is great.

My son is staying in GL after PIR so we will have time to go into Chicago. Is there a link somewhere with information about tours and things to do in Chicago? I thought I saw one but now I can't find it.

Not sure about any links but my favorite part of Chicago is Navy Pier.  You should try and get there, scubed.  I'm sure you could google it.

If my son was shipped out to RTC on Oct. 17th would his anticipated PIR date be Dec. 13th?

I didn't see any programs.  Why don't you give a copy of the form letter.

CShells, You can print out the Graduation Program through a link on the RTC website, but I don't think that anyone gets it at PIR besides those with an Honor Recruit or Award Winner. I agree that the form leter should work. You may also want to supply a copy of the hotel receipt to prove she went.

Well reality has just set in, my kid in a box came today with my sons iphone and a tee shirt.  My son's phone was glued to the palm of his hand 24/7.  We could communicate via text and facebook at all hours.  It is so silent now :-(

Does anyone know when Sarge's meet & greet for 11/27 will be posted?

And has anyone gone to the  Full Moon or Flanagan's? If so, is it something you recommend? And how does it work?

Hockey mom, when did your son leave for bootcamp?

Haven't received a letter from my son who left 10/10. No information on ship, div, pir or address to send letters. 

Ladies, just went through the long weeks of bootcamp and attended PIR.  It was so worth the wait to see my sailor.  I know you have lots of questions and concerns.  The hardest part is when you don't hear any news for weeks at a time.  Just know that they are hard at work and almost too busy to miss home.  The transformation is amazing.  Be strong, the end result is amazing.  Many emotions you didn't even know possible will be felt at PIR.  Now I can communicate daily with my sailor by texting or facebook. Even though he is missed and I know he has started his future away from home, having some kind of contact keeps me sane!  The journey is hard on moms for sure!

Still no Form letter, ty's Mom? How long did it take to get your box? I'll be freaking out if it takes 2 weeks to get the form letter! The mailman will be avoiding me, I'm sure!

Hi Ladies. Anybody have an idea if the parking fees are horrible in Chicago? Downtown area, Navy pier etc...we will be there for a couple of days after PIR and not sure if it is worth keeping a rental car.
