This group started on 2/8/11 and we survived boot camp, laughter and tears.  Now our recruits are sailors and headed in many directions, but we'll continue to support one another throughout!

    They never asked for my parking pass last weekend!  Nor did they ask for my car registration/insurance or my sons birth certificates.   Now I am sure if I didn't have any of these things they would of asked for them all!  You can bet I'll have everything with me again for this graduation!

    I am sure it is always different, but we found out my other brother was a grad-n-go about 2 weeks before his actual graduation.  We ended up changing all our initial hotel reservations and my mom changed her flight (I drove).  And Otty, believe me, my brother is not the neatest guy in the world, I don't know how that happened LOL!  And I made a mistake, he called Monday not Sunday (the holiday screwed me up) and he called at 11 am.  We keep our phones on us at all times.  But just about every call I got from my other brother was after 5 pm (like 6ish) but I am sure it is always different, so our phones are glued to us!

    lol, they asked us for our pass but none of the other stuff, but they did pull random cars over to the side and search the car and check everyone's ID and ask for all the needed documentation. Good idea to plan ahead :-)

    Hey everyone!

          Just wanted to say that I recieved another call from my husband today. I feel like I won the lottery! lol Although it was just to follow up on info I had to send in, we got to chat a little bit and I thought i'd share what he had to say about mail. He said that they still have yet to recieve or send mail but they told him maybe today. Not sure if it is the same for all DIV. He is ship 09 div 126. Just thought that might give everyone a better idea of where their letters could be because I know it is hard waiting!

    I am so excited!  I just booked my travel and started a Meet and Greet group for the Ramada on Arpil 7.  I would love it if everyone going could post pictures of themselves and their FS with your RSVP.  If I get really creative, I might make nametags with our sailors' faces on them???

    Flights booked and so is the room at the Quality Inn.  So relieved.  Now if I'd only get a letter  my life will be complete.

    Fortunately/unfortunately my sailor's background information was complete (he had a year to get ready) so I haven't received any additional phones calls except the one...so I'm jealous.

    Oh, and the phone card... I was so excited to get an address to mail a letter that the last thing I thought about was making copy...lol

    To add to what Jessica said, most of those calling card use 35 min every time the payphone is used and if they run out of min many cell phones do not allow collect calls. Sprint does, I received a collect call from my sailor and 10 min cost me $9.00. Best 9 bucks I ever spent. I wouldly have paid $100.00 to talk to her lol. Best to just send an extra card to them and activate it before you do send it.

    We booked our hotel today also. We are staying at Homewood Suites in Lincolnshire. We stayed there last weekend and it worked out very well so we decided to stay there again. I am driving and my mom will be flying. We started looking at flights today, Southwest had some great prices!

    Yes, SWA is having a pretty good sale right now. We went ahead and booked our flight from ONT-MDW. Just a bit cheaper than the sale fare to MKE. Plus the perk of no change fees & up to 2 pieces of baggage free. Especially nice if your SR is grad & go & you want to store belongings in the locker facility by the base for pick up later.

    Congrats Denise! THat is fantastic!!!! I sure would like to see a real letter from my son soon. I hope that there is one there when I get home tomorrow. This has been a very long trip this week. I need to get home. I wish I would have gone home today, but I wouldn't have been able to get home until 10 or 11pm amd I would have been wiped out. Sigh... I have to wait one more day.....

    I just read a post from the official RTC poster on the RTC FB page that states "The recruits are able to write the first Sunday they are in their ships. This does not include their in-processing days."  So, our SRs should have been able to write last Sunday ~ letters please!

    My son is Ship 9 Div 126 also and we haven't recieved any letters from him yet, - thanks, My heart is in Boot Camp, for the info about the letters, We have decided to stay at the Navy Lodge, It is only 1 1/2 miles away, Haven't decided on a flight yet though

    Denise, how wonderful to receive a phone call.  That is a blessing!  We received our first letter today.  Our son has been sick, but apparently that hasn't otherwise affected his PIR date.  Hoping for letters and phone calls for everyone!

    I know exactly how you feel! I have these mini meltdowns all the time because I miss my son so......  much, and last Sunday was his 21st birthday, He is such a good kid (middlechild) and even though my other 2 sons are still at home, its just an ache in my heart! hugs and kisses to all of our future sailors

    I can't believe a week ago we had less than 40 members and now we've topped 80!   Again, welcome aboard!  For anyone who has just joined, remember there are also Groups called PIR, boot camp, Seals, and other such groups you might want to join.  If you inbox to your email (e.g. hotmail, yahoo, etc) is filling with everyone's comments you can simple click "stop following" and then just check your groups at your leisure.  The chat room on the bottom right can be helpful too for a live chat with some of the 'veteran moms' on here.  Sorry if this is a repeat for those of you who have been on here for 2 weeks! D

    Good morning everyone. You guys are right this group is really growing quickly. I just received a payment on PayPal for some of the PIR ribbons I make for each group. The initials of the person who sent the payment are T N And it is a guys name. There is no note with is so I have no idea whose ribbon order this is for. So, if you just sent me a payment through PayPal this morning and didn't put a note with it please send me a message so I can figure out who this money belongs to. Thanks so much, I hope you all have a great day. There should be more letters coming today since Monday was a holiday. :-)

    Got to talk to him again - yea!  This is really good since he told me that some of the guys are writing when they are in their racks on Sunday but he is sleeping.  LOLOLOL - I am not one bit surprised!  I know my son!!!!!  He did say he had a couple of half letters done but I don't expect to get much.  That is fine.  He is doing well.  Unfortunately for me - I have all the security stuff finished and he probably won't have an excuse to call me anymore.  Boo for my efficiency.

    ICsailorsgirl, my brother is just as bad, I have lived in the same place for 11 years, he has lived with me for about 4 summers, and he doesn't know my address either!  I am hoping he gets (or has received) my letters so he has my address too!

    We have our reservations on SW, but we were going to fly out early on Sunday.  Is it a good idea to fly out later on Sunday, so that we can have that day to spend a little more time to be with our SR?  The later flight was another $100 each, but it could be worth it.  The recruiter says that they don't have to be back until 5 p.m. on Sunday.  Fri and Saturday night is 9 p.m.  I guess if you don't get that back in time they get in trouble.  So, stay later Sunday or head out early?  Any one have any advise.  We are ship 9 DIV 126.

    I haven't booked my flight yet but I am not planning on leaving until Monday after graduation.  I agree ntz4laa, I don't want to take a chance of not being able to spend every free minute with my daughter :)
