This group started on 2/8/11 and we survived boot camp, laughter and tears.  Now our recruits are sailors and headed in many directions, but we'll continue to support one another throughout!

    Received a letter today (dated) March 27 that he is doing Battlestations next Friday.  I think he means today (4/1) since PIR is next friday (4/8).Has anyone heard from Ship 11 Div. 127?

    Thank you ntz4laa.  I hope we can all meet eachother at PIR.I am curious about some of our "names".  Mine is pretty simple.  Hubby (Jim) calls me his cupcake...Jimscupcake....anyone else want to share as we wait for the rest of the SAILORS to call!

    Anyone else have sailors who are going to a school for corpsmen? My boyfriend is and he said he might be going to Texas but hes not sure. Anyone elses sailor say this? I was really hoping he would stay in Chicago.

    Emilee, My son is going to San Antonio for Corpsman school.  He was inititally told he would stay in GL but, is now going to SA.  Happy he will get to be in a nice new facility.

    They both are a distance for me.  I will definately plan on going to SA for Corpsman graduation.

    Congrats to all who passed BS.  My daughter got to make a phone call.  She called her dad at home.  The RTO went up to her and said if you know the words to the Beverly Hillbillies TV show, you can make a phone call.  Well, little did he know how big a fan of that old TV show her Dad is and she knew every word and got to call home!  She has passed all of her tests:  physical & written.  Just waiting for BS on Sunday night into Monday.  It lasts for 12 hours and they start at night.  I will be waiting for a phone call at my desk at work on Monday.

    LaLa Ribbon Queen - my ribbons came today!!  It seems like I have been waiting forever.  I thought you had mailed them out around 3/17 or so.  They are beautiful and I really like them.  Hopefully, our daughter will be able to pick us out of the growd.  Tho' there will be many families with the ribbons.  Can't believe it is only 5 days away.  My suitcase is out and starting to get filled up.  Maybe someday we can meet for real in person.  Thank you for all you did for this PIR group.

    Yes, they can go through BattleStations again with another group..as late as Thurs night before PIR.  That would be with the next PIR group's divisions.  They will pass and be at PIR in the balcony, too tired to march...but in uniform and sailors!

    sandy, Don't think that the DVD comes in Pkg A?  I know that The Keel does (yearbook) but believe you have to order the PIR DVD separately.  $29.  You can order it after PIR at the NEX if your sailor didn't order it. Dont forget!  It is definitely worth it!  It will be mailed to you.

    Make sure that if your recruit did not order the DVD that you do right after PIR - the line maybe long but worth wait.  you can not order it after that day.

    I am so glad you all love your ribbons. NMoO1Girl- I am so sorry about that. I got a bunch of late minute orders for the 4-1 PIR group and had to get those out to make sure they got them in time for PIR. Please stay in touch after PIR and let me know how it all turns out for your daughter.

    Congrats to all the new sailors. Don't you wish you could be there today to watch the having fun at the Captains Cup?

    What to wear...yes, I was thinking, pretty skirt, with a shawl and cute flats, then they told me there might be a lot of walking, so the cute shoes are out. They told me it can get really cold there, so the pretty skirt is out.  Maybe camos and a flak jacket...

    judysoin~so funny.  I have my SR GFs shopping for cute, hot looking stuff (like Craig hand mentioned a while ago)...me-pants and boots...so different from our so cal weather of 80 plus....I say go cute and wear a coat you can take off later.

    What happened to our 90 degree weather today? I 'm off today and was planning to enjoy it. That's Cali for you.

    It's going to be in the high 50s in Chicago next week. Well that's still to cold for me. So I had to purchase boots and boy they were hard to find. Gotta love the internet. Hope to meet you next week.

    He did say he might be calling today so staying by the phone...don't want to miss this call like I did the last...

    About what to wear at PIR, wear what you will be comfortable in as you will be sitting for awhile.  You will see many different things that people wear from all glammed up to the what were you thinking to very, very casual and everything in between.  You are there to celebrate but you want to be comfortable.
