DIVISIONS: 121-128   807, 808   920,921

This group started on 2/8/11 and we survived boot camp, laughter and tears.  Now our recruits are sailors and headed in many directions, but we'll continue to support one another throughout!

Mumz - if he went to sick bay and got SIQ, then he would not have gotten to call. My son said that he almost went to medic today and was glad that he didn't because someone else went and got SIQ and was not able to make calls with the rest. Maybe that was yours??? Possible? Sorry that you didn't get to hear from him again. Only a few more days though and we will all be as happy as clams! I have no clue how happy clams are, by the way, but if it is based on my happiness for next Friday, then they are some pretty happy suckers!!  :0)

I never heard from my son tonight and they won the Capt.'s cup. He sounded really sick last week, so I wonder if he just skipped the 'recruit's heaven' or ?

aw well, just a FEW more days!

  • mumziepooh

Oh - it is ok - I just want him healthy - he told me he was going to Tranquility - could hardly swallow for the last week or so but he pushed thru.  He doesn't want to miss a minute of graduation.  I am sure it is a virus with all of the peanut butter shots they have gotten!  And exhaustion........and the adrenalin release.
  • Marianne(Ship04/Div807)

MamaSeal- I never heard from my son either.  Maybe they are just resting before Battlestations, who knows?  I know it's hard not to worry. We can do this, we are almost there.
  • diannep

ProudAunt:  BattleStations for 808 is tomorrow night, ending Mon morning.  Good luck to your nephew!
  • diannep

Please post again, ladies, if you hear more about those that said they are shipping out on Fri.  Because RTC FB had told us that no one ships out on Fri anymore, except those moving over to GL.  That they leave on Sat or Sun.  But again....change is the way of the Navy.  Hoping that what the SRs/sailors have heard isn't true.  But post if you hear from anyone after Mon.  They have a pizza party next week and sometimes are allowed to call again.
  • Bebe

my SR called today and we talked for like an hour...it was so good to hear from him.  I know about the call in his letter earlier this week...

He's a grad n go also-he confirmed today and will leave Saturday early AM to Pensacola and start A school right away.  Kind of a bummer but we will enjoy every minute we have with him.  Wish I had paid better attention to the posts about grad n go and being able to be with him at the airport...no worries-I'll figure it out.

I work for the government so I know how it works nothing is ever set in stone until they say it is.  I'm sure the Navy's even more so.

Thank god only 5 more days; BS on Monday/Tuesday and so looking forward to my call Tuesday.

Anyone else have a SR going to Pensacola? and if so, did they tell you what day they will ship out?
  • Bebe

myheart is in bootcamp~are you asking if other SR's are going to pensacola including my SR?  Wouldn't they be all leaving at the same time if they were going to the same place ie.; Pensacola, San Antonio or San Diego?  My son leaves Saturday morning.
  • five10fevr(HM school)

From what I heard the internet wasnt free, so I am sure some chose not to use it. Unsure if they all had a chance or not.
  • Ladybug<3

bcordova- I hadn't refreshed my page and I wrote my comment before yours but then it posted after lol but yes, I am assuming they would all leave at the same time. My SR found out during bootcamp he would leave sat am, I was just hoping that there was a chance that maybe that was a rumor or something! but if you heard the same thing, its probably correct. I hope that when we are there the plans change and they leave on sun!
  • jim'scupcake

Watching the news~for those of us traveling on Southwest..they are having a problem.  Maybe just some cancelled flights through tomorrow...but something to keep an eye on.  Wishing us all safe travel this upcoming week.
  • mumziepooh

My son knew very early on that he was a Saturday departure but still doesn't know what time.  He said they have a travel briefing on tuesday and will find out their final plans then or Thursday.

I am praying for all the divisions going thru Battle Stations tomorrow and Monday!  Gogogogogo!  (praying for the momma's too - it is harder for you than for them - they are well trained!)

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

The Sailors don't necessarily leave at the same time just because they are going to the same place. It depends a whole lot on how many are going to that city. When my Sailor left for Pensacola there were well over 200 sailors going to Pensacola. She was one of 150 who left on a chartered flight. All the others had commercial flights that left throughout the morning.

Please remember when they tell you they leave in the wee hours like 2 am. That is when they are leaving for the airport. Not the time of their flight. Make sure you have them write down their flight info and give it to you. They go back to their rack right after they see you at the end of the PIR ceremony and they can do it then. You will need to know what airport, what airline, flight time, etc. You don't want to end up waiting at the wrong airport.

Does anyone know if we are permitted to carry our purses into the graduation hall? I would like to be able to keep my camera and video recorder in my purse until I'm ready to use them - just not sure for security purposes if purses are allowed...

Good luck tonight to all of the SR's doing Battlestations!

  • MamaMia

  • TB1983 (HM, A School, GL)

Are there any SWCC moms on here?  If so, what is their schedule like after PIR?  Do they go straight to San Diego or stay in GL for a bit?

What time do they start BS or are they already in progress.  Let's hope the colds of last week are all better -it's going to be a long night!
  • Ragdollrae HM A school SA

I am pretty sure that it is around 8 pm CST MamaSeal.
  • Jajajo

My daughter said they didn't start till about 8:30 pm Great Lakes time. After it was all done she had been up for almost 40 hours....it had been a very long 2 days and almost 2 nights. But she hung in there and overcame the exhaustion. She is now a Sailor. Best wishes and thoughts to all divisions doing battlestations tonight and also to the families. Tomorrow will be a proud day when you receive the "I'm a Sailor!" call:) Good luck!
  • MamaMia

Jaja-40 hours?  You're making me feel guilty for going to bed on time tonight knowing they'll be up working so hard all night!  I sure hope I get the call!  Sending loving thoughts to them all tonight!

  • Jajajo

She had watch duty before battlestations. The recruits are so motivated and driven this last phase they'll push through anything:) Good luck to all the recruits!
  • Debi (Ship 9 Div 126)

Hoping that I will be able to sleep tonight! Jajaio Wow 40 hours!, Our son's division is going tonight! I guess we won't get the call until tomorrow afternoon or evening- It seems thats when people were getting their calls! Good luck to all of ou recruits, thoughts and prayers going out for them and their families.
  • diannep

They sometimes give them a little time to nap on the floor near their bunks after BattleStations...catnap.  Not allowed on the bunks.  Then it is energy drinks, candy bars, sodas...to keep them awake until they go to sleep at 8 pm!  I bet that is the best night of sleep they get for the entire bootcamp!

Prayers for the SRs going through tonight~

  • Marianne(Ship04/Div807)

Time to light those blue candles.
  • Jajajo

Just turned my blue light on :)

  • texasmom Ship 11 Div 179

Good evening to all that will be graduating on 4/8/2011,  I have been reading through all the e-mails this evening.  I don't get to read often and I am trying to catch up.  I talked with my son yesterday and he thought that some of his old Div 124 did battlestation on Friday.  Does anyone know?  I am so excited for all of you, I know some of you better than others but, I feel that we are all connected in such a special way.  I will be praying for all your SR's, this evening that all will go well and that they receive that extra energy that they will need.  I will also be praying that you all will get rest this evening.  I will be reading tomorrow for post to hear the "great news."
  • Jajajo

Division 124 went through battle stations Thursday night Friday morning.
  • texasmom Ship 11 Div 179

Thank you for the update Jajajo, Have you heard how they did? I would be interested, so I can let my SR know.  I think he would be excited to hear.  I received the Tshirt from the division 124 of the flag that they will have at PIR. Has anyone else seen it.  I thought that my SR would love to see the finishing product since he was there to see the begainning of it.
  • jim'scupcake

TexasMom...how is he doing?  I hope things are looking good at this point.  Our thoughts are still with you guys.
  • Marianne(Ship04/Div807)

    The waiting begins.
  • nursemom (Lisa)

Only 3 days until we leave and Southwest is cancelling flights for inspections.  Really starting to freak out.  On hold waiting for representative to discuss what happens it our flight is cancelled on Thursday.  Do they make flight accomadations or are we left scrambling at the last second?
  • sandy (ship 9 DIV. 126 ) PIR 4/8

    we are on southwest too...
  • sandy (ship 9 DIV. 126 ) PIR 4/8

nursemom... please post what they tell you. i am going to work and can not call them.  thank you

  • nursemom (Lisa)

I was told by SW Rep (1 min ago).  They are expecting to complete inspections by late Tuesday.  There shouldn't be any problems for Thursday.  If there is a disruption, they would make arrangements to get us on the next flight. I explained that we need to be at our destination because of Friday morning graduation.  She said that there should not be a problem.  If they would cancel a flight they would notify us in advance.

I certainly hope she is correct.

  • Jajajo

That's good. I just checked SW website and flights leaving today out of DIA are still on schedule. We should be okay.
  • MamaMia

If I know you Moms on SW flights, my guess is at this point you would swim, thumb, rent a car, or bump someone off a flight, but I KNOW you will get there "come hell or high water" as the saying goes!!  See you all soon!
  • sandy (ship 9 DIV. 126 ) PIR 4/8

thats right momsSeal...what ever it takes to get there... just to see our new Sailors. lol
