This group started on 2/8/11 and we survived boot camp, laughter and tears. Now our recruits are sailors and headed in many directions, but we'll continue to support one another throughout!
kiwi...a friend told me..this is something we will remember for the rest of our lives..one day that will forever be with us...my son leaves's Saturday as well..
Congrats to all the new Sailors for april 8 PIR ... I have 10 left to see my SR some know but he was in the Siq and got pushed back a week so I "originally " started with you all ... Ill be there in Spirit Fri and will wear his first Division tshirt 123 to work on fri as well ... safe travels everyone !!! And God Speed !!!
My son tried to do the same thing because he is a Saturday departure at the latest. We will not miss this for the world so no matter what he tells us we are still going.
Everyone~ the time might be limited but enjoy every moment you get with them because that is what memories are made from.
Just remember Kiwi, just because he leaves for the airport at 2am doesn't mean that you won't have a good part of the day with him on Saturday. They all leave for the airport at 2am regardless of tyheir flight time. He could have an afternoon flight. Make plans to meet him at the airport USO.
Michele - you are with us in 123 in spirit and we will be with your son on 4/15 in spirit. When I talked to my son, he went on and on about him for at least 10 miuntes and how great it was to get IT because of him!! lol (you know what I mean) ;0) Will miss you, but we will plan a trip to san Antonio very soon, my friend.
mumziepooh, thank you so much for the update for DIV 124. I had to look back 7 pages to find an answer. LOL :) Congradulations to all the PIR's of 4/8/2011. I am so happy for each of you. If for some reason I do not have your e-mails, I would like to say to everyone that wrote to my SR (The one with the Knee problem), Thank you all so very very much and my GOD bless each and everyone of you and your "Sailor". I will never forget the blesses that me and my son received from each of you. Thank you so much and again congradulations to all.
Wow-sounds like I missed lots of great news today-everyone made it through Battle Station, right? CONGRATS! Wow, 200 pages of text and we all got through this together! You've been a great support -THANKS again all! Now time to get that suitcase packed!
@MamaSeal....where is the picture located? I saw 2 pictures of SRs heading into USS Marlinspike....where they learn to handle lines, but I can't find one of them going into battlestations! Are you teasing me? LOL
This will be my last e-mail. My daughter made an "unofficial" call to me at work and told me that she has to go to the airport on Saturday. She had orders to leave on Monday. Now we only have Friday to be with her. Only bright side is that we will go to the airport with her and she can have her laptop and cell phone and then I will not have to ship it later. But, just such a precious few hours with her instead of days. We are heartbroken. See you at PIR. Don't know how I will know who is who by our N4M names. I will have a LaLa Ribbon on. They are beautiful. Will be dressed in blue and red. I have white hair. (Probably from all this worrying.) Good luck to all. Thanks for being such wonderful friends and for all the advise through this incredible journey. Will leave and go to the MA group. Love you all.
Mom1Girl, I'm so sorry you won't have much time together , but just seeing her again and the changes she's undergone will make your heart swell with pride, even if for a short time. I wish you all the very best. Riptide, sorry-that WAS the picture, I guess I thought that was the simulated ship they used for Battle stations! Oops! See y'all soon!
LOL...that's okay MamaSeal...in all the excitement, how in the world are we expected to keep EVERYTHING together. Holy cow, I haven't gotten 1/2 of my stuff lined up. I'm going to be working overtime...and I have a track meet to go to for another son. LOL
NavyMom, I am so sorry you are not going to get more time with your baby! That is so sad! :-( For ALL of you who are going to be sending them off on Saturday, my heart is breaking for you!
Riptide~my son leaves Saturday as well. I will make every moment count thats for sure. I was hoping for the whole weekend...but what can you do. I guess I have the end of A school to look forward to when he will,God willing, come home for a few days. However long we have Friday is going to be absolutely amazing. So what if we planned for a weekend...the memories will be priceless and I will cherish them forever. Can't wait to see them in their dress blues....
Thanks to all you Navy Moms for all the support. When I look back now-what i thought was going to be forever actually went really fast...
Everyone travel safely and have a wonderful time with your sailors.
bcordova---I am so sorry that N has to leave on Saturday. You have such a long trip ahead of you, but PTL for that one day with him. (((hugs)))
This group, has made this time go so quickly for me. You've all been so amazing and so supportive. Enjoy that time with your loved ones. They are going to be so happy to see you!!
I have a question for the momma's in the know - how early can we go to the airport on Saturday if security doesn't open until 5? Do we need our Sailor with us to get a gate pass?
We arrived at Ohare at about 5:30 and there were already lots of families waiting in the USO. The USO at that airport is before security so you don't need a pass to wait there. By 6 am there were Sailors everywhere. So I would say you can go as early as you want. We never made it through security because our Sailor was on a chartered flight and didn't get to come into the airport at all but I have heard you have to meet your sailor before they go through security in order to get though.
Good info, Lala. Thank you. The last I understood from my son is that he thought he had to fly out on Friday. :'0( That means that I might have to share what little time he has with his dad and step mom. Sigh.... but, nothing will limit my time with him though! NOTHING!
Safe travels everyone. Between this and our little discussion group, I have felt very informed and supported. A special thanks to Craig for all of the first hand info that you provided to us and gift suggestions. You have all made a difference in my experience and I thank you all from my heart!
I have also read that DFAS is self supporting & does not rely on appropriated funds. That the powers that be are using the "no military pay" in the media to build up an emotional public outcry to apply pressure to pass the budget.
If your sailor is leaving by way of Midway airport in Chicago, the security is before the USO so you will need your sailor with you to get your gate pass and get through security. Ohare is no problem, as Lala said, because the USO is before security. That is usually where you meet up with your sailors.
dianne, will do. I hope that it is not the case, but my last call with my son was on Saturday when he said that that was the info he was hearing. He also stated that his flight would not be booked until yesterday and would be unable to let us know until Friday at graduation. I am hoping that it is not the case myself, but I just can't get my hopes up for it to be one way over another. I will certainly let you all know so that you can pass on the info to other PIR groups. :0)
Ragdollrae, I will be thinking & Praying for you and your sailor Friday. I pray that your time with him will be wonderful and that maybe some way you will be able to see him longer. Send me a message when you get back and let me know how awsome it is.. Looking forward to hearing from you. Have a safe and wonderful trip.
Thank you so much, Texasmom. By the way, I did receive a letter from your son. He sounded pretty good as far as his letter mood. I will write to him again soon. I am glad that he is getting better. I will keep you posted!! Stay tuned!
Travel safe everyone and enjoy whatever time you have even if you have to share it with people you would rather not. Feel blessed that you will see them, hug them and just enjoy them.
I agree with Ragdollrae. I feel so blessed to have been a part of this group with you all. When I visit the Navy Recruit Facebook page, I am saddened by the almost desperate family members - just trying to get a little information - I feel like I am so well prepared and supported. Thank you for all of the time and all of the prayers! I hope you all have a great weekend with your sailor - a great few hours - whatever you have - make it count!
Just received another call!! She confirmed that she will be moving to across to Corpsman school right after graduation. ICSailorsgirl, your sailor will probably be the same since they are in the same division and both going to Corpsman school.
