I just read through it better and no chairs are allowed.  They say there will be bleacher seating and there will be areas reserved for those with disabilities.  Hope this helps!

connorsmom- we went to the last homecoming and I have a wheelchair also.  We brought my handicap mirror hanging thing and we were able to park in the handicap zone right up Front- as close as you can get.  Our son is also a nuke and it was a very long wait but we could get back to our car to rest easily.

That is so good to know, Bigmama!  Our sailor's grandmother is determined to come to see the ship come in - her hubby was an officer long ago.  If she really comes, I will need to have her use her wheelchair.  Glad to know we can park reasonably and that I can get her in the "viewing" area without trying to get her in a wheelchair up a bunch of steps to the pier!  Thank you for that encouraging information!!!

Happy 4th to all.  So proud of all our sailors who keep our freedoms available to all of us.  Happy they have changed "oceans" and bodies of water again on their trek home.  Yeah!! Almost there.  Thanks for everyone who gave me support and information throughout this ride.  I truly appreciate it.

Ditto to that BoomMon!  Last year on the 4th, my sailor was in boot.  I just cried all day!  This year, although I miss him sooo much...I am just bursting with pride.  We have such a fantastic group of kids.  We did good moms!  So proud of them!  Have a great day, see you all soon!

I'm confused on how to sign up for the Homecoming party the day before. Anyone help with that?

On the last deployment, you had to be on the same "list" that allows you to get on base for the actual homecoming.  They do a photo ID check at the gate and it seemed like forever to get in.  It was in a clubhouse at the end of the pier and was really lovely. It was crowded but very nice.  The appetizers were great! Lots of hot ones and gourmet cupcakes.  I'll never forget that everything was served on beautiful china with navy emblems trimmed in gold ( we are kind of the paper plate crowd). They had USS Truman stuff for sale and tables with different navy support groups available.  We thought if was definitely worth going to.  It was sponsored by the FRG wives, I believe, but I am not sure if it is the same for each deployment.

I don't post much, but this says it all.  So looking forward to their return.

Hope everyone had a nice 4th of July.  My guys were all in Boston so they got to see the Boston Pops Firework show last night.  I talked to them this morning & they said it was pretty awesome.  They went to a couple baseball games too so that was nice!  Can't wait to hear all about their trip
