USS Harry S. Truman CVN75

Hi All!  

 Heading to Norfolk on Friday for a big sailor hug! We will only get to see our sailor one full day because his duty day was changed and we are unable to change our travel plans. He’s in need of an extra big mom hug as his best friends father passed away and he is upset he is unable to be here to support his buddy.  His friend has been through so much in his life and my son has been one of his biggest supporters.  His greatest desire was to join the military but was unable to due to having plates in his feet for flat feet. He tried every branch. Recruiters would tell him no problem, send him to MEPS and he’d be disappointed. Over the past year we are beginning to see God has other plans for him. He will most likely be raising his 5 year old niece as his sister, who helped raised him has AIDS and not doing well. His mother died of AIDS when he was only 6. The sister got it from mom at birth. They are a very close family as you can imagine 

Jacobmom - have a great time in Norfolk (I know you will!!!).  Make the best of that day ;-D.  So sorry to hear about his friends dad passing - sounds like this young man has been through a lot and still has a lot on his plate.  Prayers for him as he figures everything out.

B'sNukeMom- Thank you for the information. Our son has been able to e-mail us and purchased a calling card on the ship (the ones he purchased at Walmart did not work). I'm glad to have found this website. I try to stay away from the drama of social media, and only joined Facebook when my son went to bootcamp, just to be able to have some information and support. However, I could not find a specific moms page for the Truman. Military life is all new to us, so we are learning as we go. The posts on this sight have been welcoming, positive, and helpful. Thank you!

Thought I'd stop by Navy moms tonight and see if anyone has heard from their sailor...it never gets easier.  I am writing my sailor tonight and sending a box...but just thought hearing that some moms had heard from the Truman would be a nice feeling. Sending out hugs to all of you, have a nice weekend.

We received an e-mail from our sailor today too, all is well. Yesterday he received a few letters from us and other family members that were sent shortly after he left. 

I have yet to hear a peep from my sailor!  Glad to know others are hearing from them and that they are fine!

Anyone know how we can help Navy families affected by hurricane?  Anything set up for donations?

Does anyone know what ship we are sending Christmas goodie bags to this year? Has anyone heard from their sailor lately? It’s been a few weeks for me, I’m going bonkers! 

I havent heard from mine.

I heard from my son a few times this week.  After about a week of no communication.  He said they got mail a few days ago. He got my box finally. 

I just got an email from my Nuke... he is doing well and is safe! He makes my heart beat again when he says he loves me!!

We heard from our sailor.  Said the water has been rough.  Otherwise, all is well.

Finally talked to my sailor, he mentioned the rough waters too! He sounded very positive, so I am a happy mom!

Holy Smokes!  Have you seen where our sailors are!  Hope they all took their warm gear!

Hi Redsmom! My sailor  was told to take cold weather gear.  They knew there was a chance to go there. Was texting him last night actually.  Close enough to somewhere to get a signal! 

Yeah, they were all told to take cold weather gear, just hope all of them listened!  Ha!  We knew too...

I am truly thankful for all my Navy SeaSisters!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I am thankful for all our sailors and military personnel.  I am thankful for the supportive families and friends that I see here. 

Seems our sailors are thawing out!  Glad the won't be turned into icicles!  Hope they remember to be thankful for that small blessing!  Ha!  I know I am!

I'm so thrilled to we have our sailors home (or coming home soon)!  I missed the ship arriving this time.  But super happy to have mine home for Christmas!

When he gets  back to Virginia, we would like to invite him over to the house. We invite sailors to come over on the weekends and we feed them and play board games, watch movies, etc. If you go to our page on this site you can see what we're all about.

Hi all - how is everyone doing?

My son (former Truman sailor) & his gf (former Lincoln sailor) were home in CA over the holidays and they got engaged!  We are so excited - wedding is planned for 2020 (in CA).

How exciting!  Best Wishes and Congratulations to the happy couple!  Love the photo!

Welcome aboard! My husband and I open our home on the weekends and invite Sailors over to give them a place away from the ship. we feed them, play board games, watch movies, go to events in the area here in Virginia Beach, and also day trips to the Outer Banks when the weather is warm. :) We'd like to invite your son over to join us if he would like to come. Our page on this site will tell you more about us...check it out. :) We hope he enjoys the Navy!
