I'm not much help with what to bring either as my son lived in an apartment off base.  I will concur with Yvonne though - space is limited so really just the bare essentials. 

Also - bring a good lock.  Unfortunately there is theft on the ships :(

I was just feeling like saying hi to all my favorite navy moms, and wives. I got to have my sailor home for a few weeks and it was great! We have an honor wall where I work in a senior living community, for all those that have served, and all the residents were asking me where my sons pic was, so I got it up there before he got home! It was so cool to show him he is honored for what he does! Our navy men and women rock, I am so proud of them all! Hope you all are doing well!

B & his fiancee were home a few weeks ago and his grandma threw an engagement party for them.  It was so nice to spend time with them ;-D

Any word if our sailors got some mail?

Last I heard, no they have not received any.  I mailed box 11/30/19 and still not received.

Yes it is.  Bad enough they have to be away for the holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  Really bothers me on many levels that mail delivery isn't in place in a more timely manner.  This is the 21st century after all.

I saw posted on the Truman FB page this morning that packages have started to arrive!  Someone mentioned 200 pallets of mail arrived - now to be patient while they sort through all of it!

Well, good!  Glad the mail finally go there!

Happy New Year Moms!   It’s been forever since I’ve posted! Glad to see some familiar names still popping up. We may be the only ones left here. Redsmom, Bernapet and of course B’s keeping us smiling and grounded and always encouraging! Thank you all!!  My sailor is still on the Truman and will be re enlisting this month.  

Hi Jacob94mom!  My sailor is on the Truman too.  Keeping them all in my prayers!  My sailor received his boxes!  Glad they are getting little bits of "home."

Wanted to put out kudos to the Red Cross military.  We had an occasion to use them and we heard from our sailor within hours!  They did a great job!

Our sailor is on board Truman too. We are constantly praying and hoping for the safety of her and all her shipmates on board. We received email from her early this morning that they are fine, but busy. It's comforting to know that they're ok.

Sailormom2019, Thank you so much for sharing that you've heard from your sailor and that they are fine!!!  I haven't heard anything in a while, just figured that they needed to be quiet for a bit. 

Hello!  I am a Navy Mom from Ohio.  My sailor is with a squadron on the USS HST.  I am interested in learning more about homecoming.  Can anyone here who has gone to one give some details as to what happens etc.?

Hi MJDogs, Squadrons usually fly back together to their hangers while the ship is still off the coast and before it arrives to port. The squadron homecomings are smaller but just as exciting. They are casual. Families can run out to the runway after all aircraft has powered down and as the airmen all approach the hanger. Expect some sort of small reception with refreshments. Dogs are not allowed. Not sure how jets get everyone back, this is for helos.
