No we did not think it would be an issue, the dentist told us she could wear a mouth guard if it bothered her that was all.

Got my letter today.  She sounded great and likes it so far.  She said the real workouts start this week and she couldn't wait.  I was worried she would be misserable, but sounds really posssitve.  Only negative was about whiney people. She never has been good about that.  Will summarize on the 09/022 wall.

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

I am so sorry to hear that Adirondack. I know this is very hard for both of you. I hope you can get the answers you need and she can fight it. I wouldn't have thought TMJ would have been that big of a deal. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

  • Margie

Got our first real letter today, he sounded okay.  Said that bootcamp was not that much fun but not too bad.  He said he was in Leadership, and everything is going okay.  Said he everything was fast and a lot of yelling.  I feel better, at least for now.

I got 2 letters in the mail today from my daughter. I was so excited...I cried some and laughed some while reading them both. She sounds good and positive. She said she has been yelled at personally 1 time because she was talking in the Galley which she knew better, so the chief yelled at her and made her go to the back of the line and the eat with her left hand which she is right handed, but other than that she has not been yelled at and she is staying strong, She seemed to be happy. She is going to church which makes me feel good she is keeping her faith.

  • RuthL

Adirondack-I am so sorry for you and your daughter.  I will keep you both in my prayers.  I hope that she can find a way to work things out.  Take the advice of all the women on this page.  They know what they are talking about.

Margie-It is great to hear from our kids.  Hopefully he will get through the adjustment period and feel much better.  Just know he has a lot of support there and other recruits to lean on.

Veteran Moms-Thank you all so very much for making this process bearable

  • diannep

So glad that some letters came in today!

  • momshousedivided2-Sh 09 Div 023

Praying for you and your daughter Andirondak- She wil be ok.. she is the strong young woman you sent off just a few weeks ago. Don't give up- just get moving and help as best you can to find the information she needs to get right back in the game.

Added Sarges Meet and Greet to "events". Please try the link and let me know if it says that it is "full". We were having some problems with that...it may not "like" the large flyer and such. One member just ignored it on another group and RSVP'd anyways and it took it fine...thanks Jimbo (a dad...yay dads!).

Also, RSVP...it is not "necessary" mostly for you ladies to see who is going and to comment over there...but I know Sarge is on the site and may check.

His 11/10/2011 was a HUGE success...the mom from that group Invisible 12 REALLY promoted it over here and possibly on RTC FB (don't know if she was on that"...so I am trying to get the word out too for Sarge. You can read all about the event on the M & G page.

I will create the Ramada M & G too for you.

Links will be up above under the RTC one which is under the weather.

Today and always I am Thankful that so many choose to give themselves freely to our country in order to protect the freedom of not only their own families but the freedom of complete strangers as well. I am blessed to have two Sailors, my daughter and son-in-law who have made this choice and I love them with all my heart and soul. But I also love all of you and your families who have chosen to protect us as well. Thank you so much for your service to our country whether you are a military service member, retired service member, veteran, or family who stands behind them. God Bless you all and Happy Veterans Day. Lora

Happy Veteran's Day!!  It is going to be a great day.  I am going to enjoy my day off.  I will work on my son's room since he left it a disaster area.  It will help me feel close to him.  Hope everyone has a great day today.

  • ArNavyMom

    Happy Veteran's Day all!

I have always been a proud American & I have always supported our military...as my grandfather and uncle served in the Navy, my father in Reserves and now my son. This year I have a greater & deeper appreciation for ALL veterans & active military personnel.  Over the past couple months I have watched my son & a friends son choose to serve our country - GO NAVY!  Military personnel sacrifice more than we will ever know or understand as civilians. Thank you all veterans and all other military personnel - I Support you, I Honor you and I am so thankful for each of you!!  THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!  May the Lord bless you for your honor, courage and committment.

Tomorrow is my Birthday.  I have been feeling down because my daughter will not be here for it.  These were delivered today with a beautiful card.  She went and did all this before she left.  Got a piece of my favorite pottery, took it to the florist, and got a card.  I cried like a baby in front of my class.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Ohhhh mmmyyy... I'm feklempt! HOW WONDERFUL FOR YOU!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  • Margie

How awesome, happy birthday...hope you have a wonderful day..
  • Michelle02

Ruth L how nice of her to do that for you, only a daughter would think of that, don't here of to many of our son's thinking  ahead like that. That will be a memory you will always cherish.  Happy Birthday

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

  • diannep

Ruth:  sigh...how beautiful and special that she had them put in your special pottery...what a wonderful girl she must be!

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Ruth, wow!  That is so beautiful.  How sweet!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Happy Birthday Ruth, what a sweet daughter you have and to be thinking of that before she left that is truly heartwarming. I love it when recruits think ahead. It makes me know our country is in good hands :-)

  • RuthL

Thanks guys.  Am am very blessed. I was more than shocked today. She wrote in her card all the things I have been waiting to hear for 19 years.  I just got back from dinner with my oldest daughter.  God has given us two great children.  My poor husband has to really step it up tomorrow.

  • RuthL

Craig- Thanks for making this the best Veteran's Day ever.  We have been using your info all week, had trivia contests, and because you posting are so well written and fun, the kids were really into it.  I am waiting for the book!  Dont know where you are from, but if you are ever in NE PA, you are more than welcome to stop by my classroom!

  • diannep

Ruth:  I had the same experience with my son when he was there.  He started to say "love you" again...hadn't said that since a child...teenage years kind of messed him up on that!  Then he said:  Mom, I hope you know how much I appreciate all you have done for me in my life, etc."  I swear, if I hadn't heard him say this in HIS voice, I would have thought someone had the wrong number!  Don't get me wrong he was always a child who said "thank you" for things...but not for the "stress" he would cause me at times!  UGH!  I remember getting tears in my eyes as I heard these words as he was in bootcamp.  That is one of the pluses of bootcamp!  Most of them truly start to appreciate all that they had taken for granted for so long...because it is all taken from them temporarily and they finally realize how much it all meant to them!

  • diannep

By the way, Craig certainly is a wealth of info.  Being retired Navy and having a son and nephew in now, he has both "old school" and current info.  He is an activie participant on N4Moms and has DEP groups that he works with.

Good morning everyone!  Have a wonderful weekend.  It is a fantastic mid-60's here in S. FL. Beautiful.

Anyone driving to PIR and wanting to bring the family pet to reunite with your sailor, the Residence Inn Waukegan is PET FRIENDLY.

    So, here's my question:

    According to the below:

Holiday leave for Training Group 6 (those graduating Dec. 29) will begin at 1600 (4 p.m.) Dec. 29 and expire at 2359 (11:59 p.m.) Jan. 8. All recruits will depart RTC that same day, whether they are staying at Great Lakes or going out of state for A School.

What about Liberty for 12/29...have they lost it because of the hoilday stand down?

If someone is on RTC FB...here is the direct link to this thread...could you ask about Liberty?

    http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=10150379521227259

    Or maybe Craig knows.

  • RuthL

FireTeamLeaderWife-The more information I get, the more confused I am.  I am guessing that our Recruits will know their options and need to make the decision.  Leave/Libery/None of the above.  Giving up control my two cents on decisions is not easy thing on my end.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

I was beginning to think the same thing Ruth!
I owe you a post BTW!
  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

I'm pretty sure that my son's leave chit began on the day of PIR, but he was coming home.   Those were who were staying at GL's (now, of course this was last year) were still allowed liberty but were due back to base at 8 or 9p.m.  But, of course, they could decide something totally different this year, who knows?

  • ilovemysailor 009/021

    @FTLW

I asked that question on fb to RTC, I'll let you know when and if they respond :)

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    Thank you!
  • ilovemysailor 009/021

Well they didn't really answer my question to be honest, but they said this

"They all must depart RTC on the 29th and yes, they will go in the hole with leave time if they take more than what they have earned so far. "

I'm getting the impression that they have liberty right after, but have to check out and be out by 4:00pm on the 29th. Maybe they can have liberty right after until whenever, but have to go back and check out at some point before 4:00 that day.

  • ArNavyMom

Okay 09/021 - two quick questions - which MEET & GREET are y'all attending...Sarges or Ramada?  Anyone secured reservations?  If so, where? We are staying at the Marriott Residence Inn.  Anyone else?  You can respond above - Ship 09 Div 021!

  • momshousedivided2-Sh 09 Div 023

Planning on going to the one at the ramada. That is where we are staying. The least we have to drive around the better. Not a big fan of any nasty weather so just gonna make it as easy as possible
  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    Yeah...guess that's how it's going to be...since it's stand down.

I was thinking more of the GL A Schoolers, as those that fly out only get the one day really. But since the rule is that you can't combine liberty with leave it makes sense...they can't have liberty and then roll into leave that Monday...leave would have to start Friday.

But then as Betsy said...who knows!

My husband was activated last year (this month actually). He went for training before he left the country. There was a week lag time at the end of training and their fly out date to Iraq...Christmas was in that week..."rule" is that you have to have 10 days in between in order to come home...so they would've sat in hotel rooms for Christmas. They scrambled, found out they could get it approved to come home WHILE they were at training...and did! We had two Cheristmas' last year. The first one, before he left for training, we surprised him with a decorated tree and his fave foods.

My head hurts trying to figure it all out. Your recruits are going to be advised and it will be best to take your cues from them. They will have to make the decision about what they want to do.

    Thank you ilovemysailor!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Make sure you go to both M&G's "events" on here and read the details to see which one interests you. Ramada ends at 8 and Sarge's at 10. Sarge does offer some perks. It might be late for some and then maybe all that running around will poop you out so you can get some sleep!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

RuthL(and everyone) - "History of the Ships at RTC" in the discussion Forum up above!

  • RuthL

One of my best friends and my recruits "bonus aunts" is from Chicago.  She is driving us out and we are staying with her family.  Jami knows we can stay as late as Sunday, so hopefully she will plan accordingly.  I am so type A personality and hate the unknown.  BIG life lessons for me here. I like my life planed out months in advance.  Guess those days are over!

  • Michelle02

We made reservations's at the residence Inn and I RSVP to sarge's meet and greet.

  • flipflops91

got my first letters!! i have an athletic petty officer fiance!! so excited!!

  • Craig

    Hey all...

As most of you guys know, I run a Navy Deppers website.  Deppers that are now at boot camp always are writing me giving me info so I can pass it on to the deppers that haven't gone yet.  I recently had another depper write back and gave me the scoop on the Day-per-Day things that happen during boot camp. It surprised me how detailed this guy got, usually it's only women that get this detailed.  My info was pretty awesome before, now it's really awesome.

So, you moms wanting to know what happens each and every day that your sailor is at boot camp, then take a look....

Good morning Navy Family; I hope you are all well and are having a good weekend.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Craig...this is great! I post this on every PIR group in the discussion area now as I think it is a MUST read...I think I'll start putting it on the monthly DEP groups. I really like the comment on P-2 day about the "D" word and homesickness...very important topic.
    Thanks!
