    YAY NavyMom!

    YAY Navy Lodge!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

That is awesome. It is good to see them actually lowering the rates for holidays when most other companies always raise the rates for holidays.

I was a crazy day for me, I had to sub in a 1st grade class, so many teacher around here are sick that I was called by 5 schools wanting me to work today. Then this evening my husband and I had date night YAY, we went to a fundraiser concert for the local Children's hospital and saw Casey James, Josh Thompson, Lee Brice, Thompson Square, Sunny Sweenie, and Kellie Pickler. It was awesome. Lee brice has a new song getting ready to be released that is military based. It is called "I drive your truck". It was so good and brought tears to my eyes. So be watching and listening for that one. Then when we were on our way home we got a call that the police were at our house. A drunk driver took out our mail box and 4 others and did some property damage and then landed on the neighbors porch. We are just thankful that everyone was okay.   What a day...

  • momshousedivided2-Sh 09 Div 023

Lala- Sounds like the fundraiser was a hit. Will definately be looking for that new song- hope radio plays it. Kinda wish we would have waited a bit longer to reserve a hotel- my hubby has a itchy trigger finger and lord forbid if we don't do "stuff" way early- he freaks out! hahahaha ( little anal & ocd about certain things) Oh well we have a place and will not have to try and manuver the roads too much.

OK here is your today's ditty-- ( a cafe' duo)

Lala- First grade!  You must be whooped!

Good morning everyone, hoping everyone gets letters over the next few days!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

lol, the first graders were awesome, a great class to teach :-) tomorrow I'm teaching Special Ed and Friday High school Algebra lol. I guess you could call me a very diverse substitute lol.

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Lala, I was a substitute teacher for 7 years and my favorite grades were K and 1st.  You are a brave woman taking on high school Algebra.  Yikes!

momshousedivided, love your encouraging sayings.  :)

lol, I subbed for 7 years as well and during 4 of those years I went to college at night and got my K-6 teaching degree. Took a job in finance after college and 3 years later was down-sized when my boss passed away from cancer. Now I have started my own business and I am subbing again. High school is not so bad. The best part is 1.5 hour planning period :-) I take the PIR ribbons and work on them during planning lol. From 5:30 am til 11 pm I am going going going. My only down time is spent sleeping and an occasional date night with the hubs :-)

It is amazing how much your life can change when your child joins the Navy, or other branch. Waiting in line for a fundraiser concert last night I gave all my cash to a disabled Vet and thanked him for his service. It makes my heart sad to see a veteran sitting in a wheel chair having to beg for spare change when he gave so much to our country including his leg. God Bless him and all those who have served our Great Country and those who are still making that decision to serve every day.
  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Lala, that's great that you can work on your ribbons too.  That makes it the perfect job for you, lol    :)   I do kinda miss working with the kids as I had worked in schools for 14 years, (also did 7 years working in the school's office) but I think my life is going in another direction now, so we shall see where it takes me.

  • Michelle02

Lala what are the ribbons for? this is the first time I have heard about them.

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

It will be exciting to hear about Betsy :-)

Michelle- I make ribbons for families to wear to PIR. They not only show your pride and support for your Sailor but also are a great way to recognize other Navy for Mom members and make a great keepsake. You can send me a friend request on this site or an email to: uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com and I will send you all the info for placing an order as well as some helpful Bootcamp and PIR tips. Here is a pic of some of the ribbons I have made and you can see more pics here on my page or on my facebook page: Unique Memory Makers  Thanks :-)

  • diannep

Michelle:  Lala's ribbons are wonderful!  All love them when they order them.  And she gets them made and to you very quickly!  Go for it!

    Good morning, everyone!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Thanks Dianne, pictures never look as good as the real thing and they are bigger than they look, about the size of your hand so people can see them :-)

  • Craig

I totally agree... Lala's ribbons are awesome... They really look great...

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Thanks Craig :-) I really appreciate that!!!

  • RuthL

This is what God laid on my heart today and I am posting it every where.

When we have our children and we hold them in our arms for the first time, we are over whelmed by the enormous responsibility that God has given us.  As they grow we pray that God gives us the strength to raise them to be responsible, productive members of society.  When they become those people we prayed that they would become, we can only set back, watch, cheer them on, and feel a little left behind.  But oh how proud we feel inside.  That is God answering our prayers. (I somehow felt peace for the first time today)

  • natalie'smom

Ruth, Thank you for sharing that. It is so true and reading that makes me feel even more better.

  • diannep

Wonderful, Ruth!  Something we all needed to be reminded of.

  • Michelle02

Ruth thanks for the words of encouragement

  • Batmansmom531

Lala...the ribbons are absolutely beautiful. I am definitely interested, this makes a nice gift for the many family members who could not go to PIR to wear on that day.

Ruth....thank you for letting the Lord enter your spirit and for sharing his comforting words with us...

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Thanks batman... I just excepted your friend request and sent you the info on the ribbons. :-)

  • momshousedivided2-Sh 09 Div 023

Love the reminder Ruth that our children are what we prayed for and our prayers were aptly answered. " God be with them, keep them safe, and bring them in our arms safe and sound as often as possible"
  • Presleysmom

Lala the ribbons are beautiful I have sent you a friend request I would love to order some
  • momshousedivided2-Sh 09 Div 023

Received a letter yesterday. So happy to hear that he is really enjoying it all (even the IT). Said his Div is the loudest ( and proudest- eventhought they get IT'd for it). NOT sure if the others in his Div share the same sentiment, but whatever gets him through BC is fine with me. Was liking the fact that he is getting stronger and his arms are getting bigger( this from the kid that already had "some arms"- my oldest calls him Goliath) haha I cracked up at that.  But he did say he was really proud of his Div and all that they are doing. He is just a little like his mama- a good cheerleader( motivator) when need be.

Hope everyone got a "good" letter and can breathe that they are doing ok! Thought I would gear us up for the intense shopping season. Here ya go--

Shopping is a woman thing.  It's a contact sport like football.  Women enjoy the scrimmage, the noisy crowds, the danger of being trampled to death, and the ecstasy of the purchase.  ~Erma Bombeck

  • ArNavyMom

Good morning ladies and Craig! No letter for me letter yesterday but happy for those that did!  YAY Momshousedivided for the letter from your recruit!  Have a super day and even better weekend ahead.

  • Michelle02

Lala Ribbon Queen Pir Ribbons: I sent you a email of my order just want to make sure you got it......Thanks Michelle

momhousedivided2, thanks for the words of the day

  • My son (ship 09, Div 023)

We got 2 letters yesterday and Grandma got 1!! He said his div. is working well together and they all want to be the BEST!     He also told us that Nov. 10 was day 2-1 for any of you trying to follow their progress.

  • diannep

Good morning, everyone.  Have a great day!

  • Ship09/Division023

My sons told me in a letter yesterday that they get 5 days of leave after their PIR, Has anyone else heard this?

  • Michelle02

They have earned 5 days (2.5 for each month) but I still don't get this holiday leave until the 8th. I know they go in the hole, but i think that means they have to make up the extra days which he will when he attends A school. and will still get liberty during that time. Any clarity will help. I have asked RTC on facebook but never got a answer.

  • Rosalinda(MAA MAMA)

Hi everyone my newphew is the one in BC and his mom got a phone call yesterday that he is being sent back home....something to do with his eyesight that didnt pass with the NAVY so he will be sent back home in about 3 weeks they are all taking it hard...but i tell them GOD has something else in mind for him....GOD BLESS ALL SR......

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Michelle, yes that's what it means.  They will probably be allowed to "borrow" some leave time, that they will just earn back during A school.  My son took 10 days last Christmas and it only took him 2 months to make up the extra 5 days during his A school.  While they are in A school, many will not take leave anyway, since their family/friends aren't close by.  Once they have phased up, they will be then be granted liberty and be allowed to leave base.  Different bases have different criteria for their phasing up, so it's all in where they go on when this will happen.  But, an example would be, in Pensacola at phase III, they would be allowed to leave base on a Friday afternoon and return back by Sunday night at 10p.m. but are only allowed to travel within 250 miles of base, I believe.

Rosalind, ((hugs)).  You are truly right on.  I believe that for any SR who has to return home for any reason, there are big things waiting for them.  Please thank your nephew from us.

  • natalie'smom

I did not get a letter yesterday from my SR hoping I get one from her today. She did send a letter to her grandma which she got yesterday and called me to read the letter to me. I guess she was not doing so well when she wrote the letter on 11/11 because it was her birthday and having a hard time getting through the day emotionally, but she said she passed her inspection, but the division did not do so good. She also said she did not pass her PFA only due to the running part of it she did with all of the rest, but she has to pass the running. My understanding they get 3 tries, so let's keep our fingers crossed she passes the second time.

  • diannep

Rosalinda:  So very sorry about your SR....but I agree with you...the Lord has something better planned for him!  Prayers for him during the discharge process.  You all may want to join the group Ship 5 (formerly 17) on here for some very important discharge info.  Blessings to you all!

Yes, natalie's mom, the run gets some of them, but hopefully she will pass it soon!  She has time.

  • ArNavyMom

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Added a discussion on MARLINSPIKE up above!

  • Batmansmom531

Got a letter from my so today!!! I was so distresse to hear that he hasn't received ANY of our letters. He had 3 wisdom teeth pulled and he said "mom, I'm so heartbroken when my name isn't called for mail, I need to read something from you and pop"  but he did say that Fri div 26 will be given their phone calls...Woo HOO!!! I can't wait, I'm so happy for the moms that received calls from their sons/daughters, I know that hearing their voices was music to your ears...now if i could figure out why he hasn't gotten any of our 5 letters over the past 3 weeks..???  =(

  • RuthL

Vet moms or Craig- I recieved 2 letters form my daughter today and one of her friends called.  Her big request-send stationary.  Can they recieve small pacages or even a bigger envelope.  I though about sending note book papaer and some envelopes in the mean time.  She is doing well and has passed all of her tests so far.  She said she passes her PFA the first time and only about 17 in her division passed on the first run so they have thier work cut out.  She is very torn about the leave or liberty after graduation but said we can discuss it when she gets to call.  Hardest part for her is living with 90 emotional girls and that she now looks like a man.  Too funny!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    YAY on calls!

Batmansmom - I am going to bet that he has or will very soon...remember that byt the time you get mail a lot can change... <--- (me for you)!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

I sent a writing tablet to my daughter when she was there. She had asked for a tablet and stamps and envelopes. It should be fine to send it, especially since she asked you to.

  • Michelle02

yea got my call y son sounds good, but told me they won't wear their dress blue's he has his but the ones that had to be ordered won't seems the business went out of business. Said they will wear what the recruiters wear. Oh well

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Michelle, I did receive your ribbon order and I look forward to making the ribbons for you and your family to wear to PIR. Thanks so much for the order :-)

Rosalind- I am so sorry to hear about your nephew. It is always sad when a recruit doesn't get to follow his dream. It is good that they have you to help them through this and like you, I believe God has something great in store for him.

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Michelle, wow, that uniform business has affected quite a few graduations lately.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Rosalind - So sorry about your nephew. I wish the best for him and his future. Thank him for wanting to serve his country.

  • diannep

Good news is that some of the earlier PIR groups told that they won't be in dress blues...just found out they WILL be.  So maybe they got the dress blue issue fixed! Let's hope so.
