Actually...I just realized it is afternoon! I am afraid I am more sick (am going to doctor today) and just [plain didn't notice as I got up just a little while ago...so it is "morning" for me!

So, I am SIQ and LLD! HA! ...but not so ha...I miss being on as much. I am working on the next PIR group so my energies will be more focused there for a few days...I know you are in VERY capable hands with dianne, Betsy and LaLa...as these were the very same ladies who got ME through BC and PIR! Also, JessicaB and Sandy.

I know you thank us but I thank all of you because being "with" you...I get just as much back.

I'll be reading and checking in! Not much could keep me away form you all!

    Blessings to you,

    FTLW

Betsy, I am not sure which group to post this pic on in order for you to see it quickly but here is the pic of your tote and Kindle bag. They are on their way to you now and the other tote is on its way to Hawaii :-) I hope you love them. Please let me know when they arrive.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    Oh, LaLa...so beautiful!

Betsy dear...thinking of you and all your news...can't type much more...sorry!

  • RuthL

Craig and VET moms- you all have been amanzing, Thank you for sharing your time and experience with all of us.  It has made this process so much easier to have a place to ask our questions and get honest, straight forward answers.  I can't believe we are under 20 days.

Craig-you are a celebrity in one 6th grade classroom in Northeastern PA.  Thank you for all the great information you share.

Good morning all......its been quite a number of days since I have been on, my body is doing weird things and what I thought was sciatica may be something more serious.......MS. Please keep me in your prayers.. I'm scared to death, but determined to get diagnosed, and back to my old self (even though that body also needed improvement LOL)  My SR called this morning, what a great pick me up!!!!!  He sounds amazing, COLD...brrr, but amazing.  He's earned a marksman ribbon, and a few others I can't quite remember (also part of the symptoms grrr)  I am now looking for fares to PIR, as an 18 hour drive is not something my body can handle.  If anyone sees or hears of low fares to chicago from orlando, please let me know.....Thank you to all the veterans on here.......I never would have made it through this trying time, especially during the holidays without your advice, support and prayers.  God Bless!!

Greetings Navy for Moms PIR 12/29/11!!

Just wanted to pass on some important information that Sarge asked me to inform you of... His I-phone was stolen and he has lost some important text messages from those of you who are using his service and wanted to have you either forward him an email with your flight information to his email address: johnspadaro@att.net or you may contact him via phone @ 1-847-212-0246. He is very concerned and does not want any to be left without transportation if you have made previous arrangements with him for this service.

Congratulations to you and your new Sailors (I am anxiously awaiting my SR's PIR on 06JAN12).

Merry Christmas to you all and Many Blessing for the New Year!

  • Craig

Ruth L - Thanks for the comment.  I love teaching people what the Navy is all about.  We actually have some really cool things...

All - It looks like the U.S. Navy has been challenged by the British Navy to make the best video.  I haven't seen the U.S. Navy's version yet.... Here's the British one...

My SR said he wishes he could be here for x-mas, but he will send his love on xmas morning on a cloud...this is for all of you who will be without your SR's for X-mas......

  • RuthL

Got a letter from my SR and she asked me to look into TSP or TSD and let her know what I think?  I have no clue what she is talking about.  Other than that all is well.

  • diannep

BatmansMom:  Prayers for you in your eventual diagnosis.  Hoping you have the same "blessings" that my mom did when recently hospitalized.  During her stay (surgery), they told me they thought she had leukemia because of a very elevated white bloodcount, even though she was recovering beautifully from her surgery and they were pleased????  Scared me to death--I didn't tell her what they suspected until after she was cleared and feeling better.  Her mother died of that....well, no leukemia!  So...hoping that the MS being thrown out there is the worst that it could be, and praying that it is something much more short-term.  And hoping that they diagnose in a timely manner too!

On the fares, check Southwest to Milwaukee.  That airport is an easy drive (no traffic)...a straight shot to GL on the interstate (about 45 minutes).  They also charge no change fee (I had to change my reservation when my son was there because he was asmoed for a week) and no baggage fees for first two checked bags.  Worth checking into!  I sure wish I had known about Milwaukee when we flew from Miami almost 2 yrs ago.  They also fly into Chicago-Midway, but I think you may find the Milwaukee destination cheaper.

  • diannep

Ok, Ruth.  I think she may be talking about the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) with Navy Fed.  Did she open an account with them?  It is a like a 401 plan for the military.

  • diannep

Ruth:  You can to to www.navyfederal.org and put TSP in the search box.  The Thrift Savings Plan comes up.

  • RuthL

Thanks diannep.  HAHAHAHA!  She speaks in short hand anymore

  • diannep

Well, when I read TSP, I thought:  HMMMM....not only are those my sailor's initials (ha!) but I remember him talking about TSP (that's what they call it!).  It just took my mind a while to figure it out!  It's so much fun getting OLD...  :-)

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Batman's Mom, prayers coming your way from me ((hugs))

Hi Ladies, What a game today, Huh?  I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

I have been MIA for a couple of days, we had a death in my sister in law's family (whom I'm very close too) and then my youngest daughter flew back from college last night.  Woohoo!  But she arrived with a broken laptop and guess who has a final's paper due on Tuesday and hadn't started it yet?  lol  So, mom's laptop has been confiscated for a couple of days.  After this coming Tuesday, I should be on here regularly again, but I have to defer the use of my computer to my baby girl for now.  Luckily, my husband and I had already ordered her a new one for Christmas, but it hasn't arrived yet.

It's midnight now, and this is the first chance I've had to use my laptop today.

Craig - Loved the bathtub scene the best and the ending was FANTASTIC! U.S...has to get 'er done!

  • Craig

I'm afraid of the U.S. Navy's version of the bathtub scene for a video.  With the "don't ask, don't tell" going away, it will probably be like this.  Brings on a new meaning of "Sponge Bob Square pants", not that there is anything wrong with that"   ~~ Seinfeld  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZPcGapl2dM

Nate'sMom that is so awesome!  What a wonderful way to celebrate your Christmas.  I can imagine how many happy faces you see that day.

  • diannep

Fantastic, Nate'sMom!  Must give you so much joy to ---give so much joy to the SRs! :-)   I know there will be some very happy ladies on this site looking to see if their SRs were some of the honored guests!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    Nate's Mom - That's wonderful...thank you for doing that!

  • Batmansmom531

Nates mom....what a beautiful xmas gift, thank you!!
  • Presleysmom

Nate's mom that is such a great thing you are doing.
  • ArNavyMom

Nates Mom, that is wonderful!  Will your group be at GL hosting Christmas dinner for the soon-to-be-Sailors?  I understood 12/29 PIR SR's are not elgible for adopt-a-sailor program.  I am confused! (which is nothing out of the ordinary!)

ALL: HAPPY MONDAY!  12/29 is drawing near.  Are you ready? Travel arrangements complete? A set or two of civilian clothes packed for your SR?  Their cell phone? They can have it at A school.  Laptops? Contacts?  Speaking of contacts - I read where you can send your recruit their eye contacts for PIR.  Just clearly mark the outside of the small packet Eye Contacts and solution, PIR 12/29. If you mail today or tomorrow they should get them in time. HAVE SUPER WEEK AND HUGS TO ALL!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

That is wonderful Nate's Mom. It is heartwarming for a mom to know that her Sailor is being taken care of and getting a good hug when they can't be home with us :-)

I will be subbing in  a 4th grade class today so I hope you all have a good day. I will be back this afternoon.

Keep smiling PIR is getting closer and closer :-)

  • momshousedivided2-Sh 09 Div 023

Good morning to all! Countdown is upon for many of us. Days to just a few short weeks for many. And we are not even talking about Christmas... hahahaha! I, as many of you, have sooooo much to do. I just was informed that we are having my husbands family (entire bunch) for Christmas supper and gift giving extravaganza! yesh! Like I don't have enough to do already- planning a big party/ meal was not in the mix. Oh well, somehow I will pull it off- I hope! I just feel rotten that my SR will not be here. Not gonna dwell on that- just glad that he will get to come home for a few days and we will have OUR personal family Christmas when he is home( our older son will be home too). I am such a blessed mom!  Have a wonderful Monday!

Good Morning everyone!  Another day closer to PIR for you all!

  • natalie'smom

Good morning everyone. It is a rainy day here in Sourthern California along with thunder. I love this weather. We are getting closer to 12/29 ladies it is going to be a great day :)

  • Batmansmom531

Good morning and happy Monday to everyone.....definitely getting those anxiety butterflies every time I think about how close 12/29 is.  I commented to my SR how quickly the time seems to be passing now, and I pray that such is the case for all of our SR's.  It is also raining here in Orlando, FL and it's perfect weather for some hot cocoa w/ marshmallows  ((YUMMYY!))

I was able to finally dust all the bunnies out of my SR's room, open the blinds, and let the sun in over the weekend...not easy, but sitting in his chair and looking at how blessed I have been with such a wonderful son truly did my heart some good.  I pray that you all have a BEAUTIFUL day....
