ALUMNI OF PIR 12/29/2011 TG 06 — 10 Divisions (021–028, 904 & 906)

The reason is too many people associate the gas chamber to the Nazi's in Germany.  Now they call it a confidence chamber because it's kinder and gentler to the family members.  All active duty still called a gas chamber.  The reason? They want the sailor to understand how well their gas mask or probably now call a confidence mask works.  

Also-Do any of you know if our kid did not order pics, can we order them somewhere?

Thanks Craig.  The educator in me would not rest until I got the answer.  Just figured a gas chamber is a gas chamber.  LOL.  I knew you would come through.

Ruth - You can go into the lab on PIR to order them. It can be crazy though. I bumped uyp the discussion for Photos...it has a lot of info. (I really need to wade through it and revise it...ugh).

Hi everyone, I hope you had a good day. Mine was very long lol. I sent a whole bunch of the PIR ribbons this afternoon. So if you have already placed your order and sent your payment your ribbons are probably on their way. Here is a pic so you can see how they look but this pic only has the ones who have the first name on them. If you are part of the orivate facebook page a different pic is posted there with more ribbons in it :-) This pic has 3 or 4 PIR groups represented. You still have time to place an order so if you want more info just send me a friend request on this site or an email to uniquememorymakers@yahoo.com. But with your PIR getting close and the holidays coming you need to get a request to me ASAP. Thanks so much :-)

Ruth - Too many people try to forget about the past by changing the name or playing down the event.  We can never forget the past.  

diannep - That picture was from TG33 (Great Lakes Centennial Group July 1st).  Those gas masks make everyone the same, ie sailors!  Woo-hoo!!!!

Whoo Hoo 16 days and counting down!!!  I know WE are ready but I do believe that our kiddos are just as ready. They still have soooooo much to do, learn and accomplish,but they are seeing that light in that tunnel growing bigger and bigger! I totally agree that the last few weeks, for us too, is just as nerve wracking as the first few. So much to do, plan, prepare, and accomplish before the BIG day. I think my check off list has changed each day if not each few hours. haha! Oh well! Tis' the way of moms.  Y'all have a blessed day!

Ok, thanks, Craig.  But he could be my sailor's twin! 

Suggestion:  Ladies, be asking your SRs what they want you to bring to PIR for them to use there  and/or take to A School.  Start the list now.  Some like a few civilian clothes to lounge around in the room in (full uniform outside at all times).  Cells, laptops, ipods, etc...they have Navy-issued backpacks now so may have some room to take these items.

momshousedivided:  LOVE your gift suggestions.  Isn't it amazing how we think of "gifts" as ones with monetary value...but the greatest gifts we can give have no monetary value...but are so much more meaningful!  We may not remember monetary gifts given to us over the years, but we will remember time spent together in special ways. 

Prayers for the 4 soldiers killed near Tacoma in the 2-helicopter crash.  May the Lord bless their families/friends during this awful tragedy.

So I bought my SR a laptop as a graduation present and I am using it right now and I love it. I may just keep it for myself. I just may keep it for myself. Just kidding she is going to love it.....

I think we have all of the 021 people ina group, but just in case you did not hear, I won a picture of 021 in the Trivia Tuesday Contest yesterday!!!! Keep an eye out on the RTC facebook page for a pic of them :)

Ladies, normally I would send out a "message to group" now with BattleStations dates I have.  But we are kind of mixed up on some of them.  Can those who have dates for their divisions private message them again to me?  I have a tentative schedule of some, but with questionmarks.  Be sure to include the division when you send it to me.  If you are not my "friend," just send the info in the friend request.  Then hopefully I can send out a message with some dates!  Have received no dates from 023/024 and the two 900 divisions so if you have info on those, please send it.  Thanks!

ArNavyMom- I hope you do get pics of the Captains cup but they rarely take them at that event. Usually only if it is for some special reason once or twice a year. But I hope you get lucky :-)

Just a reminder to please re-confirm with SARGE if you made transportation arrangements with him.  IPhone stolen and he lost some info.  This would be for those who made arrangements about 2 weeks ago or longer, as he replaced the phone this past week, I believe.  So anyone who contacted him this week to book his transportation services should be fine.

@sarahjbox-I am praying for you to get a phone call too!! What Div. is your daughter?

My daughter is in Ship 02 Div 906.  She has called and talked to her dad but I have been at work every time. I actually have the weekend off so I am hoping she calls!

I have a random question. My SR (im the girlfriend) asked if I wanted a copy of the keel. He already ordered one, but said he could order another for me. I dont really think that theres a reason for two keels, but should i get one anyway? and does anyone know how much they are? I dont want to make him buy something pricey.

ilovemysailor:  If he ordered Pkg A on the pictures, The Keel came with it.  Not sure how much it would cost separately.  You may want to check the Photo/Keel discussion above to see if there is a cost in there.  But...having said that...just know....The Keel has some current pics in it, but also has some very old pics in it...unless they have changed it.  It would be totally up to you if you wanted a copy of your own.  Just didn't want you to think that all of the pics are from this PIR group, because they aren't.

...looks like The Keel (also called the Cruisebook) is $30 and you must order it by PIR day (you can order in the NEX after PIR).  No mail/phone orders accepted. 

Under 2 week.  No idea how the time has gone by.  I joined this site as a blubbering mother and feel I am a "Navy Mom" in time for PIR!  I would really like to "Pay it Forward" in the future.

Diannep, I am sending someone to talk to you. They just got a call that their son will not have PIR because he didn't pass the final fitness test. Maybe you can help her figure out when his last chance for battle stations is and help her decide whether or not to cancel her trip. I hope she hasn't done it already. I told her not to cancel yet.

Lala:  Haven't heard from anyone yet about that.  I sure hope she hasn't cancelled yet either.  I would be glad to help her if she can message me!  My page is "private" so she needs to friend request me.  Poor thing....so frustrating...
