Hope everyone had a great weekend! I am not on as much on the weekend as hubby is home…but I usually get to read and then catch up on Monday! Praying for letters and calls for y’all this week!

Hubby and I went to see “Battleship” tonight. Kicked Alien Butt! HOOYAH! Loved seeing all the “Sailors” and the USS John Paul Jones reminded me of all of the Recruits as “Camp John Paul Jones” is the main housing area for them! If you go, make sure you wait and watch the scene after the credits…the furry creatures made us laugh as we have one and have worked with the others! LOL

    Good Night!

where is battlestations going to be seen  at?

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Mommasheart- not sure what you you mean. If you are talking about Battle Stations the recruits go through you won't be able to see it although there are some videos on You Tube. If you are talking about "Battleship" the movie FTLW mentions it is now showing in theaters. I have heard from some that they didn't like it but all my friends with Navy family say it was great :-)

  • diannep

To see a little of what they do in BattleStations, go to

    www.youtube.com

and put in "CNN BattleStations 21"   That will give you a peek into what they do.

    Good morning all!

Lalaribonqueen. I just ordered my ribbon!! Woohoo! can't wait, 24 days!!!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Awesome marcyl  Thanks so much. I am working on some right now :-)

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

FTLW, my sailor saw it and he loved it too.  I hope to see it this weekend.  Speaking of my sailor.  He did an awesome thing last week, (which explains my intermittent sporatic visits on here). I opened my front door last Monday morning and there he was!   He flew all night across the country from WA state to MD to spend a week with us.  He only told his cousin that he was coming so that his cousin could pick him up at the airport.  Sadly, our time went all too fast and we had to take him back to the airport this morning, but we have many wonderful memories of his big surprise visit to keep us until we see him again.   I still can't believe that he pulled it off.  Here is a picture of our last day today.   Am I one proud mom or what?  :)

Ladies, don't those digital blues look just awesome?  They are my favorite uniform.

  • diannep

Great picture, Betsy!  In front of your new house!

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Dianne, yes that is our new house and he loved it.  He actually told me that he wished we had lived in this neighborhood when he was growing up because it has tennis courts, a fishing pond and a basketball court.  I'm pretty sure he liked it here.  lol

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

And for most Sailors the digi Blues are their favorites as well. Super comfortable and not near as hot as the dress uniforms :-)

  • mareluc(Ship11/Div196/PIR 6/29)

Betsy - great surprise!!!!!!!  Glad you got to spend a week with  your Sailor.

  • smokie (ship12 Div 203)

FTLW, Love the pictures on your E-mails.

  • smokie (ship12 Div 203)

Betsy, Happy for you, what a great suprise!

  • Shelly

Hi Lala Ribbon Queen. Your name fits so well. I got my ribbon order today and they are wonderful. Much bigger than I thought they would be but just perfect. Thank you so much for making these for the families. It feels like I am a bit more connected to my SR.
  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

That's cool Betsy! Look at that handsome Sailor and his purty Mamma! Woo-Hoo!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    TY smokie! (here is another!)

    Thank you

  • tatmom4rc(Ship12, Div. 204)

I am just reading this - but as someone has already said - PIR is just coming around the corner and the call that you think you might get of him coming home - maybe the "I'm a sailor call".  We are all with you and your son.  Take care.

  • tatmom4rc(Ship12, Div. 204)

  • tatmom4rc(Ship12, Div. 204)

I know I have many stories about my ex - but each and everyone one of you know your child and what is best for them - - I would stop using your energy in trying to get them to "be"' something they aren't and just be who you are.  My Sr is close to both his father and I - when he filled out his form letter question #17 asked - who loves you more A. RDC B Mom, C (insert pet's name) - he circled B - Mom and wrote behind it times 100,000 - so happy.  I mail him almost every day - - he loves the letters - they look forward to them - and they need to hear "your voice" of support.  Don't worry about what others think or say.  Be strong.

  • diannep

    Good morning all!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

So true tatmom- I would not have said anything at all to my ex if my daughter had not ask me to too. I could tell she was really hurt that her dad was not writing her and I, like any mom does not like to her her children hurt in any way. I always say what comes around goes around and I will always be happy that I showered her with love and mail during bootcamp :-)

  • tatmom4rc(Ship12, Div. 204)

I agree - i would try my best to do what I can for my SR - although the outcome is not always what we would like it to be - we all need to move on.

  • mareluc(Ship11/Div196/PIR 6/29)

Hello ladies...hopefully everyone had a great day today!!!!  Moving right along...... Hey Julie!

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

    Thank you, juliebelle.

  • diannep

    Good morning!

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Hope everyone is having a good Wednesday.

  • ReneeBC

    I recvd a letter today!!!

My son said they are really pulling together and everyone is more relaxed with the new RDC.  He says the new guy is hilarious, but no slouch by any means.  Clearly, his style is working if they earned their first flag! Academic prowess.  Yay!  Now that they have gone beyond the half way point, he says there is far less yelling and they are beginning to discuss A school and Fleet life.  He did say that he would have less time to write because they are in a "push div" and have to get everything done in a shorter amt of time than others in the training group.  So, so good to hear from him again; he sounds happy!  23 days and counting!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

That is great news ReneeBC, I know it warms your heart to get good news :-)

  • diannep

Congrats, Renee!  Does a heart good to get such a wonderful letter, right?  Yes, this group is right at that point where the "turnaround" happens--when they have accomplished alot, with their goal in sight.  So great that he is so positive!

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Renee, that sounds like a great letter.  I bet it made your heart happy to read it.

  • smokie (ship12 Div 203)

Renee, Glad you got a letter. It helped me also to know what the group is doing . Thanks for sharing. Go SR's. I knew they could pull together. I am going to write another letter.

  • smokie (ship12 Div 203)

Mareluc, Have you heard anything more from your son? Hope all is well

  • ReneeBC

    Lala, Smokie, diannep, and Betsy,

    Thanks!

I left out his wishlist.  It isn't TOO personal, niave, yes, personal, eh.

He warned there may be more later, but here it is:

    1. World News!!!, (He could care less about sports scores.  He said he saw a bit of CNN at the VA hospital and is going through withdrawal symptoms now.)

    2. A long hot shower

    3. Civilian clothes; jeans and a button down shirt  (He hasn't been told, yet!)

    4. cell phone! for the day

    5. Starbucks

    6. a nap (Does he know how many hours there are in a day???)

    7. a sit down meal with menus, NOT cafeteria style

    8. a girl, nevermind...I'll find my own girlfriend

  • ReneeBC

    Julie,

He's usually a lot of fun, though Im not too sure a nap, button down shirt, and CNN sounds like all that much fun for most people!  LOL

  • mareluc(Ship11/Div196/PIR 6/29)

smokie - haven't heard anything yet. Thursday is my letter day so keeping my fingers crossed for some GOOD news tomorrow. Another mom in our division (196) said they did excellent in Marlinspike - no hits and they did it under 23 minutes so they earned phone calls!!! Yeah not sure when - maybe Saturday but so happy for them all! they all deserve it! the also won the Athletic Flag I think she said!!!! Great news!!!

  • mareluc(Ship11/Div196/PIR 6/29)

ReneeBC - great letter - thanks for sharing! Love his wishlist!!!

  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

    mareluc, that's great about Marlinspike.

Renee, that's a great list.  I love the sit down dinner request.

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

That's an awesome list, too funny about the girl. Don't all moms wish they could pick out the girl? LOL
Sorry I haven't been on here tonight. Can log in to this site from my computer for some reason so I am having to use my phone. It's weird this is the only sure I am having a problem with. Hopefully it will work tomorrow. Good night all.
  • Betsy, mom of Stennis sailor

Lala, in my mind, I tell myself that is why my sailor is still single.  He is waiting for me to pick out the perfect girl for him.  Winking Smileys

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Sorry I wasn’t on much either…again! I am trying to get the next PIR group started so my focus shifts a bit during this time…and well…it’s the Stanley Cup Finals!

Hubby worked Monday night so we taped it and watched last night…and Game 4 was tonight. BUMMER… the Kings lost…but they are up 3-1! Woo-Hoo! Has been a great Finals so far! My hubby used to play Hockey (which is funny for a Glendale kid! I mean Hockey was around but not a So Cal thing! He also played some as an adult.), and got me hooked when The Great One (Wayne Gretzky) came to LA! So I have been glued to the TV with him…and I will be Saturday night too for Game 5!

    I am catching up!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Renee - GREAT post...your SR's list gave me a (VBG)!!!!

mareluc-Praying for a good news letter!

  • diannep

Renee:  Your SR didn't mention being allowed to TALK during meals.  They are not allowed to speak during mealtime!  So dinner conversation with family during PIR weekend is usually a welcome relief!

    Good morning all!

  • diannep

I'm collecting BattleStations dates from you all so please friend request/message me if you get one from your SR.  Don't post dates on this site...not allowed.  But I will keep a schedule!

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Well I am on here this morning but only because I am using my hubby's laptop. Yesterday I went to Navy for Dads site and then something happened on my computer and it said my computer could not access that site. Then I went to Navy for Moms and got the same message. It says Unable to access the Network, then something about my firewall. But I can access all other websites with no problem at all. I have tried turning off the computer and it still doesn't work. I sent a message to my Sailor and her Hubby/Sailor. He is an IT so maybe he has an idea how to fix it. uggggg

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

Now I am off to take my Mom to the doctor and then shopping for fabric :-) I'll Be back this afternoon. Have a happy morning :-)

  • ReneeBC

Lala,  Don't I wish!!  Every girlfriend that boy picks out is materialistic and sharp-tongued. I never say a word, but, clearly, there have been times he's read my mind.  He'll turn to me and say, "I'll let you know when I'm looking for my forever girl, and I'm too young for that right now."  Soooo, I haven't worried that I'll spend the rest of my days biting my tongue. His female-friends are awesome. LOL  I hope your mom is just having a check up and all is well.

    FTLW, Thank you!

Diannep, No worries.  He probably hasn't mentioned the no talking thing because he is a very quiet guy most of the time.  (Now, true down time is a different story!)  When he was in high school, he would grab a salad from the cafeteria and come up to my room and eat.  He hated the noise, chatter, and gossip during the few minutes allowed to actually eat. (We had the same lunch time)  He would eat his giant salad and three apples in record time, kiss me on the cheek and head to class, never having said a word.  Maybe he's been preparing for the navy all this time.  :D

  • raeveness(Ship11Div198PIR6/29)

Got two letters from my daughter today! She said they didn't do so well at Marlinspike, but that things were getting better in the division. She did pass her weapons turnover inspection and her personal inspection, but didn't pass her PFA. Her schedule for Graduation states: "Graduate, Junk Food, Great Lakes, Nap on a REAL bed, Shower in a REAL head, burning party and fixing her bowl hair cut." And she said they send letters on Tuesday and Thursdays too now! And she also stated they "May get another phone call soon."
  • diannep

Renee:  Awwwww....so sweet!  Then I bet he loves the meal no talking policy.  My son is a chatterbox so it probably was torture for him when he was there!

  • mareluc(Ship11/Div196/PIR 6/29)

New photos on Facebook!  They all look great!!!!
