It's just "Carrier". "The carrier" is a completely different topic and not one you'd want for your son.

  • Concernedad

Oh yeah, and it's a miniseries so it's 9 hours long.

  • Rod

conernedad, He is on the IKE.  Yes they have ABH on Amphibs.  I have seen that miniseries.  Great stuff.  Probably a good thing to watch for anyone with a son on a ship whether they are on carriers or not.  They do get away from the flight deck so you see other departments.

  • DramaSoul

Concernedad...LOL! I can only imagine (and I have good imagination) what The Carrier would be about. Thanks for the info.

Hi Guys (and Gals).  I've been watching you all from afar and just decided to jump in.  I've been trying to get my hubby to join but he's just started to figure out the whole computer thing....so far he has discovered "Ebay" and that seems to consume his time - says he's gonna "get rich" by completing all his old baseball/basketball trading card sets!  Yeah, we'll see!  You all seem like a fun group......I'm anxious to see where this goes!

  • JackFlash

B'snukemom....  Tell your hubby that there is safety in numbers.  Take 911, for example. Ebay huh?  All I can say is that the Lederhosen I received were not exactly as shown.... but where else can you get great stuff like that?  Right?

  • DramaSoul

    JackFlash....RIGHT!!!

If Ebay has him hooked, tell him NOT to start playing Solitaire on the computer or smartphone....HIGHLY ADDICTING!  Just one more game...just one more...wait...just one more game...

  • DramaSoul

Concernedad...thanks for the link.  Looking forward to watching it. And it did not give out personal information....

  • Craig

or "Words with Friends"...  Geez, my wife is on that constantly....

  • DramaSoul

Craig...I am afraid to start with that.  All of my friends are hooked on it.  Sudoku is another one. And then there's the N4M site and the Dads on Moms site...and the Funny Papers. I really need to get some work done!!

I've also got some other original set from the 80's, but I can't recall what they are?

  • Concernedad

Concernedad - hubby wants to know what your '75 set is of - baseball, basketball?  He has 2 complete sets of '69-70 Tall Boy topps basketball.....(among other things!)

  • DramaSoul

Concernedad...My former mother-in-law threw out my ex's baseball cards from the 1950's many years ago.  He had some valuable rookie cards. He is a HUGE baseball fan. He did manage to retrieve a beautiful Satchel Paige card because it wasn't with the other cards.  We were talking about this the other day. She was doing some cleaning out of things and thought they were just some old junk! Downright painful to think about.

  • Concernedad

    bnuke.....baseball of course.

For the record, as a kid, I put my Jim Brown rookie card in my bicycle spokes.

  • Denise - browns57

Was on vacation last week & never got on the computer.  How could you Concernedad?

You know I'm from Columbus, Ohio!

  • Concernedad

thoughts....so my son came home on leave yesterday and I've got about 10,000 questions for him. He's not one to talk much, nor have we heard from him while he was gone.

Am I better off leaving him alone, or is it ok to grill him? I feel like it's my only chance to learn what's going on.

Of course I only understand about half of what he tells me, and that's due to me being here.

  • DramaSoul

I have been asking my son questions and he does answer them as he is home on leave. If he is tired of the questions he let's me know! 'Enough questions already Mom!'. Of course he has just completed Corpsman school and we have been in touch via text and phone so we have been talking sort of. I am guessing his girlfriend knows more about what's going on than I do.
  • JackFlash

Oh for sure... ASK. Even if he seems annoyed at times by your questions, he'll know deep inside that you ask, because you care. That you are a concerned Dad, interested in his life. Maybe he just needs a little time to unwind, the he might open up. Good luck-- don't give up!
  • Rod

My son does the same thing with his mother.  He sounds annoyed and then he starts giving more information than you want to know.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Hi everyone - if anyone out there is from the Inland Empire (Southern California) we are having a lunch get together this Saturday, 7/14, in Rialto.  If you want more info you can check the "Inland Empire of SoCal Navy Moms" group.  Hope to see you there!

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Concernedad - my hubby cringed when I told him about you putting the cards in the spokes! Ha Ha, but I think I remember him telling me that he did the same thing when he was a kid too......

  • abbyblue

SmileyCentral.comwhere are all the dads ?

  • BowflexLA -SeaBee

I've noticed we dads don't talk a lot. We do a lot of reading I suppose. I don't ever post on the dad site because we are too shy, lol.
  • DramaSoul

Thanks, Dads, for the recommendation to watch "Carrier". When I mentioned it to my son, he said he has watched it and was gonna tell me about it. He asked me where I heard about it and I told him "Dads on Moms".  This sparked a whole new discussion.  Saw the first episode and looking forward to the rest of it!!

  • Rod

    AbbyBlue, we're lurking!
  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    hahahahaha...There's "girls" here! Ewwww...

  • Dan

    Bowflex,

I think you have it right.  We just read and not post...

Dad's sight gets a lot fewer updates, we just can't keep up.

  • DramaSoul

This is me hitting the 'like' button for AbbyBlue and FTLW!

  • Concernedad

Women use 20,000 words per day, men use 7,000.

Of course this is through thousands of years of men evolving and surviving by not answering questions from women like, "Do I look fat in this?"

    The chatty men didn't survive.

  • JackFlash

    Concerned dad---- fuuuuuuunnnnnnnneeeeee!!!

Ladies, you are making the mans nerrrrrrrrvous. Some of us are shy, ya know?

B'snuke-- I'm often up in Riverside, but I just don't know what to wear to a Ladies Tea.....? I know what happens if you don't make it to the Ladies tee though...
  • Concernedad

Jack, You should go, Just remember, the rules of a ladies tea are EXACTLY the same as if you don't reach the ladies tee, so dress appropriately.

  • abbyblue

shy ??? but you had kids right ? couldn't be that shy...................

  • abbyblue

    I have the remote

    SmileyCentral.com

  • DramaSoul

Like! Like! Like...to all of the previous comments and smileys! You guys and we gals are givin' me the giggles!!

  • Concernedad

eeek, a woman with the remote?!! What's more scary?

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Oh Jack - you should definitely stop by our tea.  We can sit you in the middle and then all take turns trying to figure you (men) out.....if that is at all possible!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Speaking of remotes...TV's...for your viewing (?) pleasure(?). Hey, it's hot...I'm bored.

(Don't know how many of you have those that watched the "Beav-oirs")

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Hear that Jack...you get to be in the middle. (giggle, giggle) Giggling

  • DramaSoul

I agree with FTLW....Jack you should definitely go! Oh how I wish I could be there....giggle giggle.

  • JackFlash

Sorry-- won't be up that way on Saturday... I keep hearing that song in my head-- "Stuck in the Middle with you."  I have 3 boys, and my two youngers have all kinds of Saturday activities that require shuttling about.  My wifey will be out quilting (teaching a class) so it's Dad's Taxi time.  As much as it would be fun to be the center of attention-- like an oddity at a Ripley's Believe it or not Museum.... I'll have to miss this meeting. lol  Maybe next time though... I'll bring a parasol and crumpets.

  • B'sNukeMoM⚓️MMN(Vet)

Too bad you can't make it - picturing you with a parasol and crumpets though - interesting vision I have!
