Well we got a phone call from our SAILOR earlier...they wrapped up training earlier this morning with a VERY successful run at BattleStations 21.

Division 267 had 100% Passing with a total score of 4.5 out of 5.

And according to their RDC, they were also the only DIV to NOT sink their ship!

Amazing as just a few short weeks ago they were known as "The Screw Up Division"

Friday can't get here soon enough!

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Good one Abby! Also, if we have Dads who have recruits in Boot right now...we welcome you to join your PIR group...there are several of us veteran moms on there who can answer questions and lend support...even if you don't post...please join and " read only" if you like ;)

Click this link and it will take you to a Forum Discussion that has all of the current PIR group links:

    http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date

Bunker QB has some great info...then you can scroll down and see the links to each PIR group. The TG number, PIR date and corresponding divisions are listed. The two most current PIR groups do not have a confirmation from RTC yet...but we do know that the 10/05 PIR has divisions 317-326, 821 and 947. 10/12 does have an 822 and a 948.

Nah...I think the subject just needs to be laid to rest at this point.

    LOL AbbyBlue!!!!

I didn't know a football from a baseball until I went to college at a school that had an excellent dental hygiene program and happened to be well known for football.

  • JackFlash

    Go Chargers!

Maybe it's time for something lighter.  How about Sailor Songs?

  • DramaSoul

This is just a little light break from the intensity of the problems we attempt to solve. It felt to me that we were just going around in circles and I don't like to meet myself coming and going....

In honor of your favorite team, Jack, and an alum of my school and your team...Junior Seau.

    Ooo...Jack...that's a great one! Thanks!
  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Drama - I am finally starting to "get" football...ugh...its "remembering" that's messing me up! Hubby does like his football...so I sit with him to enjoy being with him while he enjoys IT! I try not to interupt to much with questions!
We both like hockey though...I don't "remember" that one to well either...but I love watching...I like a good fight now and them too! :oD Hubby used to play hockey...introduced me to it that way and then watching the Great One play was incredible.
On my phone...so no cool smileys...someone will have to give me an "assist"!

    GO BROWNS!  I love football!

  • Concernedad

Denise, I gave up on the NFL when they stole our Browns from us, moved them to another city, then proceeded to win the Super Bowl. The idea that Art Modell got to hold the trophy made me too ill to keep watching.

I hate the start of pro football season (especially in our town with our owner). Although my wife and I have become big high school football fans. We also have gotten into travelling around the country to catch some of the more storied college football games. This year we're hoping to catch both Alabama and Ol Miss at home.

  • DramaSoul

FTLW....I read a book called "Get Your Own Damn Beer I'm Watching the Game" by Holly Robinson Peete.  She was the wife of Rodney Peete, quarterback at USC.  It is a hoot and explains the game and the different positions of the defense and offense.

I have to say that I tend to like players on team and the team colors not so much the teams, especially those players who went to a Pac-12 School.  There are only two teams I really really don't like and #1 is the Cowboys.  Never liked them...it is visceral.  The other team I have an unexplainable dislike of is the Broncos....I think it's the colors.

You have to understand I grew up in LA.  When the Rams were the talk of the town, I was going to symphonies and operas and museums.  I do know who Roman Gabriel, Rosie Grier and Merlin Olsen are but I didn't really watch them.

I now live in the NW and all we have are the Seachickens...er...Seahawks.  I remember their early days with Jim Zorn and Steve Largent 'cause my sister lived there and had season tickets.

And finally, my former husband was a high school teacher and basketball coach.  Every year the coaches and teachers had a weeklyNFL football pool during the season.  I won it on many occasions, to the chagrin of many of the guys.  They asked me what my system was and all I could say was I went by my gut which was influenced by: the team colors, the cuteness of the players or an unexplainable something. I know...no logic but that's what worked!

    Whew....long post!!

    Thanks, Jack! That was AWESOME!!

  • BunkerQB

"Fight on for old SC, our men fight on to victory."  Visualize majestic Traveler (beautiful white steed) and the mighty USC Trojan band with a cast of a thousand. USC is rated #2 pre-season. Hubby (Stanford grad) said, "Get tickets. Either side is OK for me."  Stanford ticket website open at 9:00AM. I got on at 9:15 - tickets all sold out. Checked out Ticketstub.com. End zone up high. $250 per ticket. 50 yard line - $650 per ticket. I guess we'll tailgate at home.

BunkerQB...OH YEAH!!  I haven't been to a game there in a loooong time.  And I can hear that fight song and see Traveler as if were right here and now.  I heard they are #1 in the pre-season ratings.  Thanks for the walk down memory lane!!

  • DramaSoul

Oh, BTW, I was there the night Ron Ayala kicked the field goal as time expired that sent the Trojans to the Rose Bowl.  And....I remember watching Jim Plunkett throw that football to Randy Vataha (sp?).  It traveled 50 yards IN THE AIR.  Great memories as I learned about football.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Thanks Drama! I am going to get that book! I think I'll "study" in secret and surprise him!

Thanks, AbbyBlue!  I was by a river on Saturday night, sitting on the deck at my friend's house looking up at the stars.  We were winkin' a lot and they winked back.

Sorry Navy didn't do well today but USC is beating Hawaii so far in the second quarter it's 26-0.  Fight on!!!

  • Mayflower

As a Navy Mom, I am always looking for excellent websites that relate to or honor our military. I found this terrific site called LittleFeatsJewelry.com. They sell all kinds of Military Jewelry - with quite a few NAVY designs. Check it out!

  • abbyblue

OK where are all the men you get a group going and then go back to your little hide out. dont be strangers SmileyCentral.com

  • Concernedad

Mayflower, I certainly hope you're not spamming on my page. The brig hasn't been cleaned out in a while.

  • Concernedad

FWIW, I note both Mayflower and her recommended site is in the same city, so until I learn differently, I'm going to assume Mayflower is merely spamming. I note her entire profile is marked on private.

Not sure on what group to announce this but my nephew, a CRNA in the Army, was pinned Lt. Col on last Saturday.  So proud of him.  He is the one who inspired my son to become a Corpsman.SmileyCentral.com

  • DramaSoul

Thanks, Sub Dad.  He wrote a beautiful piece on what it meant to him when many told him he should give up.  He is a bit unorthodox with a wonderful sense of humor and duty. He spoke eloquently on what it was to be a mentor and talked about his mentors. His wife is a surgeon and they are generally deployed together as a team although they area currently stateside.  They have been all over, needless to say. And to think...I used to change his diapers!  Sigh.

    So very proud of him!

This board is DEAD! Just proves men have keep their thoughts to themselves. Perhaps we need a poll on favorite beer or food to eat during the game?

  • Kris & Bob

No the board is not dead! I don't hang out here because of all the emotioms that get posted. I do find somethings comical that do get written.

Jack - Let it out man...we're here!
((sigh))...it happens to us "girls" too...spent the last week tryin' to have a 'good cry' , just wouldn't happen! We ladies need that to relieve tension. You need to go HIT something...that's what guys do...though I coulda done a little of both lately! Gotta go and try and get dolled up...youngest getting his green belt tonight. Middle son training horses and Seabee at drill.
  • Fancy Nancy

JackFlaah, I am going through tough times now, too. I think my son is on the verge of DOR. It is so, so difficult and a leg injury doesn't help matters. I am drowning my sorrows tonight with a deep dish Chicago pizza and a couple of nice cold Sofies (wonderful beer made by Goose Island Brewery in Chicago).
    Hang in there, Bud.

Oh, changed my Profile Pic...taking a break from Snoopy!

The one I have now is of my Hubby when he was in Qatar 12 years ago. One of the guys from his unit took great pictures and this is one of the best. I had it put on his Welcome Home cake.

He just had his 30th Anniversary on the police department (his "real" job LOL) and 28th as a SFS in the SF reserves. Wow, I can remember when we were "youngin's" and said, "Well, 20 years is enough...no way you are doing 30!"

Hope everyone is having a good day!

  • DramaSoul

FTLW...that is a great picture!  It is acceptable to take a break from Snoopy...sigh.

Wow 30 years?  SFS? Congrats on the anniversary!
