  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

We need something to talk about...

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

I'm really not the"feminist type" or anything...just funnin'.

Steel Magnolias is about the only Chick Flick I have and those women are tough! LOL.

The rest are all mostly stupid humor, Sci/Fi, and action/adventure...does Kill Bill count as a chick flick?

  • Concernedad

Geez! One stinkin' dad's board and you all litter it with Helen Reddy and Steel Magnolias. Might as well put a trailer for Magic Mike up there.

So much for a man cave.

  • DramaSoul

Now THAT I would object to!! Any of you checked out Dan Patrick's man cave? You wanna talk about the first game of the World Series?
  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

Eww, I agree Drama, no Magic Mike.
Hey, did Hockey start? I like hockey.
  • DramaSoul

Nah...hockey is locked out. Cancelled until November the last I heard. Looks like basketball preseason, football and the World Series is the current sports activities. Don't know about curling and cycling doesn't start until the Tour Down Under early part of next year.
  • DramaSoul

Of course if you like hockey you could watch 'Slapshot'.
  • BunkerQB

There was a lot of "soft porn" in other groups. It's not what I am here for. If others want it, that fine. But if that becomes the predominant theme here, I am gone. I have hear about Magic Mike. Haven't seen it. Hubby and I will watch it when it comes out on DVD.

We have sports on morning, noon and night and Fox and CNN. Then it's THE VOICE. NCIS (reg and LA). We flip stations often.

Still haven't heard from my old classmate's son. My former sailor is settling in nicely to civilian life. Taking care of a house and working full time is more time consuming than he had expected. LOL. Younger son still in ND, getting ready for the winter.

  • FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW

    Well...DARN! Thanks Drama!

    We LOVE Slapshot!

I was going to post clip with the Hanson Brothers but there are TOO many F-Bombs! Oh my, just the one clip where they fight BEFORE the game starts and then the National Anthem is being played...the ref is fuming and can't stand it and starts reading one of them the riot act...and the  response he gets is: "I'm LISTENING TO THE *bleeping* SONG!"

Ditto B... Thanks for the update. Keeping young man in prayers and glad to hear how your sons are doing. Brrrr..ND!

  • DramaSoul

BQB...I listen to sports in the morning! NCIS is a guilty pleasure. Still remember Mark Harmon when he played football at UCLA. He is aging real well!!!
  • DramaSoul

LOL!!!!!!! Finally saw this.  BTW, I played "Truvy" in a production of "Steel Magnolias". It was great and I had to learn to do hair because during the first act, I had to do the character Shelby's hair on stage, 4 nights and a matinee for 3 weeks. I did have that Helen Reddy album.

  • Concernedad

For God's sake Bunker....Do not make your husband sit through Magic Mike!!! That is cruel and unusual punishment and nothing good can come from him having to watch it. Have a heart!!!

  • Concernedad

Drama....who wants to talk about a World Series that doesn't have the Rangers in it? I mean, seriously?!!

  • DramaSoul

ME!! There are a lot of teams I would root for...Rangers definitely NOT one of them!!!

GO GIANTS!! They are lookin' good!! Darn...wish my smiley thingy were working.

I agree regarding Magic Mike...only saw the trailers...that was enough.

  • Concernedad

Giants are going down! Just wish it was the Rangers taking them.

The umpire behind the plate last night obviously had a nice bet on San Fran. MAN! Did he miss some calls!!

  • DramaSoul

Hmmm....we shall see. Verlander looked AWFUL in his first outing. Pitching was good last night however, I think the Giants are gonna prevail.BTW. The choice by Prince Fielder to run home was not a good one.

Aren't all umps blind?  I thought is was kinda like the statue of Justice.

  • BunkerQB

Concernedad, Buster got the tag just ahead of Fielder's foot touching the base. It was fair and square. The Giants did get a lucky break on the Blanco's bunt. By all accounts, that bunts should have gone out. But like all things in life, sometimes you have to have a little luck. A break here, a break there. Ya, on paper, the Rangers should kick everybody's butt ...  but unfortunately, they still have to win the games in real life. The Giants are sitting pretty right now.

they found 42 dead bats in the dugout..........guess which dugout?

    What BQB said!!!!
  • Concernedad

Bunker, I didn't think he missed the play at the plate as much as he did the strike zone. It was all over the place and not at all consistent. Huge difference between having a hitter 2-0 vs 1-1. Very easy to control a game from behind the plate.

    Anyway, that's what I saw.

  • BunkerQB

Every ump has a different strike zone and you are right often they are inconsistent. On that particular game, I can't recall if the strike zone was really small or big. Either way, as long as he is consistent from for both teams. What drives me crazy is Joe Buck and Tim McCarver said, "JUST missed" when it's a country mile (if the pitcher is from any team except SF). Tim McCarver is retiring and hopefully they'll have someone else do the announcing for Fox. Tomorrow is the parade. I am not going but will be watching on TV.  I was surprised by the Sweep.

  • Concernedad

Yeah, boring Series unless you're from the bay area.

  • DramaSoul

While the outcome of the World Series was the only GOOD sports thing that happened this weekend, I was really kinda disappointed that the series didn't last longer.

With USC's loss and Notre Dame's win....I am in mourning....

  • DramaSoul

Oh, and I am not originally from the bay area.

  • BunkerQB

Let's not talk about Notre Dame. Could never stand those guys. You would think they thought God was on their side. LOL. JK (half). Stanford lost to them. USC better not or I'll be cancelling my alumni renewal.

Navy SEAL Team Six Members Disciplined

Seven current members of the Navy's elite SEAL Team Six, including one involved in the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, have received non-judicial punishments for having served as paid consultants for the video game "Medal of Honor: Warfighter." Four other SEALs who previously belonged to the unit remain under investigation.

The newly released game by Electronic Arts features special operations forces, including SEALs, in combat situations. Promotional materials for the game mention the fact that, to make the game as realistic as possible, input came from special operators, including Navy SEALS.

A Navy official says 11 active duty SEALS worked as consultants on the game over two days earlier this year. At the time all of them were members of SEAL Team Six.

A senior Navy official told ABC News that one of the seven SEALs was involved in the May 1, 2011, raid in Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden.

The SEALs were punished for having violated their nondisclosure agreements and for having revealed tactics, techniques and procedures. Non-judicial punishments allow commanders to discipline service members administratively instead of pursuing a legal process that could lead to a court martial.

The news that active duty SEALS had been punished for their involvement with the video game was first reported by CBS News.

The official confirmed that on Thursday morning seven senior enlisted sailors, who are still part of the unit, had received letters of reprimand and been fined two months' pay. Letters of reprimand are seen as career-enders because they typically prevent further promotions. The investigation continues into the four West Coast based SEALs who were part of the unit at the time that they served as consultants.

A Defense official said that in an unusual move, the punishments were read out loud to the seven SEALs in front of their peers to send the message that this kind of activity would not be tolerated.

In a statement, Rear Adm. Garry Bonelli, deputy commander of Naval Special Warfare Command, said his command "takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and conducts investigations to determine the facts. We likewise take seriously the Non-Disclosure Agreements signed by Sailors and adherence to the articles of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice (UCMJ)."

The Navy first became aware of the SEALs' involvement following the release of the book "No Easy Day," written by the pseudonym Mark Owen, a former SEAL Team Six member who detailed his role in the bin Laden raid.

Owen was investigated by the Pentagon for having violated his non-disclosure agreements and for not having his book vetted by the Pentagon. He too served as a consultant on the Medal of Honor video game.

The Navy official said the participation by the 11 SEALs was discovered following a review prompted by the publication of Owen's book. The official said after the book came out, it was decided that a review should be made of what "outside engagements" current SEALs might have been involved with for which they may have received compensation.
