Dads on Moms.....com

Now hear this! Now hear this! This is a group for you Dads out there. If you've been to other groups and just can't find the information you're looking for, this would be the place to ask.

And gosh darn it, men have feelings and miss their sailors too!

So come onboard and batten down your hatches.

How are the Marines treating him?

  • DramaSoul

They are treating him well.  He can keep up with them in PT and they respect that a lot.

    abbyblue....love your post. :)

FTLW....love it.  I watch a little hockey since I get the NBCSN channel.  I tend to watch more towards the end of the season, I admit it.

  • Concernedad

Shouldn't we be discussing baseball still?

  • DramaSoul

Baseball?  I only find baseball fun when I am at the game.  It is really really slow and you can't see how the infield and outfield change for the batters unless you are there. I was kind of hoping the Orioles could pull it off because one of my son's best friends is from Baltimore.  That said...after Kershaw couldn't carry the Dodgers I kinda lost interest, truth be told.  Hoped he was the next Koufax.  That was the last time I really liked baseball.

  • Concernedad

    Baseball is calming and strategic.

DramaSoul - We turned off our satellite :-(...so don't know HOW we are going to watch Hockey this year. Long lunches at Chili's???

Playoffs Last year I actually got sick of it...almost. We couldn't watch when it was on (timewise...is that a word?) and so taped it and would TRY to watch two games in one sitting.

Last times the Kings won Hubby got to touch the Stanley Cup and take a pic with it.(Photo op through work)

This year...he was able to take me to do the same! Woo-Hoo!

"Fraid I'm the same with Baseball. Last game I went too we were sitting pretty high up and I got bored and started watching the bats dive bomb the moths around the lights (sorry CD)

This place looks like a minefield. ...so who's going to win the SuperBowl?

  • DramaSoul

Concernedad....THE SEAHAWKS, of course!!! I am here in the Northwest and my sister and her hubby were charter season ticket holders when the franchise first came into being. So...gotta go with the 'HAWKS!

  • Concernedad

I would like to see the Seahawks win. I'd also like to see Belichick sitting out a year for cheating, but that will never happen.

  • DramaSoul

Concernedad....yeah...I think Richard Sherman's words were truth. As long as Goodell is so chummy with Kraft, nuthin' will change. Tagliabue was a much better commissioner.  I have ZERO respect for Goodell. Have you seen this weeks Sports Illustrated? Good article about the Legion of Boom.

FTLW....HOW ARE YOU??? Read an interesting article in Sports Illustrated about Gretzky and his daughter's significant other, Dustin (?) Johnson...a golfer. The Great One is awesome.

So...I admit it...as a break from reading Dimensions in Dental Hygiene and the Journal of Periodontology, I read Sports Illustrated!

  • DramaSoul

    FTLW....love your animated bat!!!

  • Concernedad

I think Gretzky's wife and daughter are awesomer.

  • Concernedad

Can't believe Roger Goodell was hiding from the media during the Super Bowl. How can he insist players do interviews when he won't?

  • DramaSoul

Concernedad....I had the opportunity to see Wayne and Janet Gretzky many many years ago at a restuarant in Sherman Oaks, California.  When I looked over and saw him and recognized him, my mouth dropped open.  He knew that look of recognition and smiled and waved. I did not approach them as I felt it important to give them their privacy.

I agree about Goodell...if players have to talk with the media, he should have to talk with the media!

  • Concernedad

That was nice of you Drama, I'm sure many don't. I've had a few different brushes with celebrities over the years. I always try not to interfere with their privacy, although I did catch Bjorn Borg on the way out of a restaurant. I did wait until he had finished eating and was leaving. Also, this week reminded me of my conversation with Bruce Jenner on a flight a few years back.

  • Concernedad

We have 59 members of this board and only 3 who post. I guess the only thing this proves is that men talk less.....or have less to say.

  • DramaSoul

It appears that 2 of the 3 are women  Hmmmm.....;)

  • Concernedad

Almost time for baseball season to start! WEEEEEE! I'm heading down to spring training soon.

  • dadofnuke

    Any "Dads", on "Mom's"?

  • Concernedad

    We are here

  • Concernedad

Anyone else watch Shameless on Showtime? Last night one of the kids gets busted for AWOL and he's being held at the "Army Base" in Great Lakes. This really bugged me. Isn't there an actual Army Base they could have used? Although from the looks of it, I'm pretty sure it wasn't shot at Great Lakes.

  • DramaSoul

Moms here too! No...don't have Showtime. That would definitely bug me if they said "Army Base".  It's been a Navy Base since it's inception, if I am not mistaken.  I could be mistaken.

  • CryptoDad

You've got it right. Great Lakes has been Navy since 1911. The Army had a base at Fort Sheridan, 8 miles south of Great Lakes, from the 1880s until the 1990s. The only Army presence left at that location is a Reserve Center.

  • Concernedad

Time to write a letter to Showtime. I thought I would get a view of GL and see if I remembered it.

Where are all the Dads? If you are on Mom's, sound off!

  • Concernedad

Awesome! So you are out there. So...ummm....should we be talking football or something manly?

Who's going to win the World Series?

P.S. Hope all your sailors are doing well. We have ours at home on leave finally, for a bit. Missed the li'l bugger.

  • Dan

My son is on the Reagan.  We are exited to see them get to travel a bit, before he gets out this coming May.

Overall we have been very pleased with his maturing while in the Navy.  Definitely a positive change.

Yes, we also miss our young man greatly and we are really interested to see him transition into a college after his coming separation.

  • Concernedad

My son is destroyer bound. Should be an interesting change from a minesweeper.

  • AParents

Hi, my wife and I share this account to keep up with all things NAVY just found this Dad's on Mom's page. I'm also on Navy Dad's but it's just not even close to being as active as this site... wish it were. We've got a sailor struggling through nuke A school at the moment... we'll see where that goes over the coming weeks. Looking forward to seeing posts on here.

  • Concernedad

For you dads out there that like a little hockey with your baseball...

  • Concernedad

AParents....did your sailor make it through Nuke?

  • Rod

  • DramaSoul

    Thanks! I'm still here!!
  • Kris & Bob

We're still here, son is finishing up a deployment and got orders to go back to recruiting.
  • Concernedad

Glad to see so many still here! My son just sent out for his last underway. 7 more months and he'll be free to sit around the house playing video games until the wife tells him to find a job.

  • Dan

My son got out in May. He was not comfortable just relaxing with family and seemed nervous. He didn't seem to know how to interact with his younger siblings. This lasted for a few months.

I am not sure if this is the common experience, but he seems back to normal after a semester in college. It is nice to see him laughing and enjoying family time
  • Concernedad

Dan, I would think he needed some time to get re-assimilated. Life went on while he was away. Glad to hear he's getting back into the swing of things.
