Thanks Kitabear. That's good to know!

  • Johnswifeee

Hi all, my son arrived at RTC Monday night.  Very excited for him.  This is what he has wanted to do since he was a little boy.

  • NavyM♥m

Hello Johnswifeee. Welcome to the EOD family.

  • Johnswifeee

Thank you!  Just received my son's box today.

  • Karenlee

Hi Johnswifeee and welcome to the crazy world of EOD.

  • Snarkymom

So happy to have found this group.  There is a lot of great information in here. Hi Johnswifee, my son also arrived at RTC last Monday night, I wonder if they are together.  One week down.

  • Johnswifeee

    Snarkymom did you get letter?

  • Snarkymom

Johnswifee not yet.  I did receive his box last Thursday.

  • Snarkymom

Yes, he’s scheduled for June 7!

  • RubberDucky

Hi ladies. I've been quiet for awhile. My son is driving from Coronado BACK to GL after a try at BUD/S. Nice meeting you. He will be joining a class that starts this Monday morning. I'd be happy to help you all as I am one step ahead of you. He PIR'ed last April, so it's been a long haul.

  • RubberDucky

    CEODD secured.

My son is on his way to Panama City!

    Hooyah!

  • NJNavyMom

    Eglin?  My son is there!

  • NavyM♥m

Congrats to your son NJNavyMom for making it to Eglin AFB!! This is where he will graduate EOD school and get his assigned base. If at all possible please try to be there for this graduation. I pinned my son there 4 years ago. Very moving ceremony. There is a really nice (small) store near there in Valparaiso, Florida to buy all kinds of EOD things. Decals to clothing. I bought tons of stuff there. It's called Bombs Away.

  • NJNavyMom

We will be visiting him soon. Thanks, I’ll definitely check out Bombs Away. Love that name!

  • RubberDucky

    NJNavyMom,

No, he is far from there. Just left Great Lakes and beginning the journey. In Dive School right now. He'll get there eventually, God willing. Congrats to your guy. The light at the end of the tunnel. Hooyah!

Karenlee, Nine years? Wow! Is he still in and doing same?

  • NavyM♥m

For those of you going to EOD Graduation at Eglin ~ I just found out there's a new store selling EOD stuff. I haven't been there but just ordered online.

I'm thinking of having a graduation gift customized but I'm not sure which EOD logo to use.  Basic, Senior or Master?  I think Basic?  Anyone know about that?

  • NavyM♥m

My son told me it's bad luck to buy anything higher than what your sailor is trained. That's my son's opinion. I always kept that in mind when I bought anything.

  • prayermom

My son told us that he was only suppose to have things with the correct badge for the level he had earned.  Basic is first - if this is his EOD graduation.  Senior and Master are attained later with designated years served and passing exams.

  • hvmom

Thanks for the advice.  I kind of figured that was the case - it's nice to hear some confirmation.  We're looking forward to the graduation!

  • prayermom

We're still learning too!  We just try to comply with the info we get.  Graduation is great, enjoy!

  • RubberDucky

    hvmom,

    Congratulations!

  • RubberDucky

Just checking in to say hi. Quiet here. My son begins day 1 of EOD school in Destin today. And so the journey begins....Although it's been quite the journey thus far. How is everyone else doing?

  • NJNavyMom

    Hi RubberDucky!

My son loves being an EOD tech! He is now back at the school house teaching. I’m sure they will run into one another.

EOD school is very difficult. Study, study,  study

    Good luck!

    Welcome WaterRetriever!

Glad to see some newer moms joining here. So glad to have Karenlee here for adice. And btw, Karenlee, can I email  you as well? Wanted to check first. Don't want to post my email address here as it contains my name. So, mine has taken a circuitous route as well. Got dropped from BUD/S after making it through HellWeek. Failed the last water test in Second Phase. Had to go back to Great Lakes for EOD Prep. Made it through Dive school and is now in EOD school in Destin. It is a long haul. Happy to share along the way. Hope everyone here is doing well!

    Welcome !

  • RubberDucky

Yesterday was the big day. Pinning ceremony at Eglin. Sad to not be there but it was taped and put up on the organization's FB page. Next up, Jump School. 2 1/2 years and he finally has a rank on his uniform. That certainly deserves a Hooyah! Hope all are doing well as your sons follow this journey. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

  • Karenlee

    RubberDucky,

Congratulations to your sailor and you. It’s a journey for sure. Sorry that you couldn’t be there but glad you got to see the ceremony. Again congrats.
