Here is the link. Not sure if this site always posts the ceremony, but they have been since the pandemic. It's a public FB group that you can join. I also belong to a private FB group for EOD as well. Here is the Navy one that posts the videos.

Enjoy. It was great fun to watch. I have been watching again and again. And thanks all for the congrats. Such a proud moment.

  • Karenlee

Thanks RubberDucky. Have a good week. Stay safe and healthy.

    Thanks RubberDucky!

    Thanks so much, RubberDucky!

  • Prayingmom2boys

My son starts boot camp on September 28th and then the long process of training for EOD. Very overwhelmed with the length of his training, (but grateful as well!), the process, all the places he has to go and different things he has to learn. Wow, what a task. He just graduated with an Aerospace Engineering degree, so I know he's prepared intellectually. But mentally, emotionally I know it will be hard on us all.
  • NJNavyMom

    Hi Prayingmom2boys!

It is a long and difficult process, but so very rewarding. My son loves his career and has never second guessed his decision.
Join a local Navy family Facebook group also.  I love the support, the friendships and our luncheons.
I especially love this site. We are here or each other.

  • Karenlee

    Hi Prayingmom2boys,

Yes it is a long process but like NJNavyMom said so very rewarding. Mine did not go into boot with a contract. He was in 3 years and then started into the pipeline. He still loves what he does. Please let us know how things are going.

  • RubberDucky

Hi Prayingmom2boys and welcome! They all start at different places but wind up working with an incredible group of young men. Mine was very recently pinned, still training and can't wait to make it to his Unit. The training is long and the pandemic has added additional time due to the need to quarantine at times. But all moms here will tell you, as my son does all the time. It's "hurry up and wait!"

    Hello

My son was injured in Hellweek and went undesignated for 2 years. His return to Buds was unlikely due to his class being closed. He has had his package for EOD approved and is at the compound training until he receives orders to begin the EOD process. I’m apprehensive about the dangers with this field of work. Do any of you parents feel the same?

  • Karenlee

    Welcome cao503,

I was a little concerned about this because it sounds very dangerous but I feel that all special forces are dangerous jobs. He will do fine. Is he at Great Lakes? Not sure how long buds is but EOD seems to take forever. Let us know if you have any questions, we are here to help.

    Have a good weekend.

    Hi There

He has been undesignated for over 2yrs. He just had his package approved for eod. He is at the spec war compound in va. He will go to Great Lakes next but who knows how long before that happens. He is a college graduate. He is 27. I just worry about the demolition and explosives. Thanks for your support!

  • Karenlee

Hey there, what base is he on and do they have him doing anything? My son is at va. They have cut hours due to COVID and he told me they are slow right now. I will talk to my son and he could get ahold of your son if you and he wants.

  • WaterRetriever

    Hi.

News about those Buds now wanting EOD.

Well my sailor has some great friends which came that route , ladder, pipeline.... EOD does take well...  that pipeline may be the longest.

Waiting may be.... may I say be more testing than anything .

Yet those drop in .... were Buds sailors are great....

Well .... that is from a mom that those sailors even excelled  over her sailor.... and I say it.

New graduates from bootcamp cannot compare... not really a good comparison... apples to oranges so to say.

Just every waiting on school at GL....

    Practice weighted treads . ....

The Demolition stuff is further down the road... do not bring extra worry to the present.

Stay sane waiting... have a sense of humor....

And yes... oops... command may change for positive in your direction.... keep optimistic.

I am learning how to wait....

    One way or another.

  • WaterRetriever

    Hi again

    This group may look quiet.

    Remember personal stuff go private.

We are here . Just ask  and go to private conversation.

EOD is one group that is chatty privately.

Get an email service that is encrypted.

    Have a great weekend.

  • prayermom

EOD has been a rollercoaster ride for sure!  Lots of long training that will push him past his limits and feel like king of the mountain at the same time.  My son has been in for a few years now and is very dedicated to the cause and bonded to his "brothers".  As a mom you ride the rollercoaster too.  So VERY proud but scared to death at times.  Looking back, we feel that EOD was his intended purpose in the Navy.  Hang on tight, pray and keep in touch with your son.  He will do great and love it!

  • RubberDucky

cao503 As WaterRetriever says, feel free reach out and we can private message. Actually back in the BUD/S days, I had a group of moms that formed a PM group. It was nice. We all got to know each other. It was easier because our boys were all going through the same thing at the same time, but I think it's still nice to develop a personal relationship with some moms here. Mine made it through Hell Week and was dropped during the last water evolution. He was unrated for about 6 months and then had to do the Great Lakes, etc. route all over. Luckily for him, that was not during a pandemic. COVID has definitely lengthened the process for all these guys. Tell him not to get frustrated! Every move he has made, he has been required to quarantine for two weeks.

He was pinned at the end of August, quarantined, and will graduate Jump School in GA this week. Then, it's back to Eglin for another 2 weeks of quarantine and then off to MI for combat training.

Don't let EOD scare you. Any special ops position in the military is scary. This is the life they have chosen. For them it is challenging, exciting, extremely rewarding. The community is very "SEAL-like" in terms of the camaraderie.

Good luck to him. Keep us posted on his progress. Send me a private message if you would like to chat more.

    Happy Fall everyone!

  • NJNavyMom

A PM group would be fantastic!

  • Karenlee

A pm group sounds good to me also

    karenlee

  • cao503

Thanks everyone. He probably won’t begin training until spring. I would like to be in a pm group.
    Thanks again

  • RooDog

A PM group sounds great to me also!

My son is finishing his 2nd week in quarantine at GL and will start EOD training next week.

    Happy Fall!

  • WaterRetriever

    Good news Rubberducky

  • prayermom

I would love a PM group!

  • RubberDucky

Okay. Since I was the moderator of one before, I will give it a go. Each of you needs to send me the equivalent of a "friend request." That's the only way we can PM each other. I will set up the group. I'm so excited to do this! Looking forward to hearing from you all.

  • RubberDucky

It turns out that I am friends with all of you except ca0503 and prayermom. I have sent you both friend requests. Then going forward I will set up a group. Be on the lookout for some messages from me. Have a great weekend!

  • Karenlee

    RubberyDucky

Thanks for doing this. I might have another Mom to add. Need to see if she is interested. Thanks again. Have a good one

  • WaterRetriever

Hmmm. I think I will need to adjust my settings.

And on which app is this?

  • Tory

I would love to join the group. My son is at Great Lakes starting the EOD journey. RubberyDucky I sent you a friend request.

  • NJNavyMom

At the risk of sounding like an idiot, how do I send a friend request on navy for moms?

  • Karenlee

NJNavyMom, click on someone’s name and it will take to their page and you send a friends request.

  • NavyM♥m

    Thanks RubberDucky!

  • WaterRetriever

Many ways through the Navy to get to that EOD training.

  • RubberDucky

    WaterRetriever,

I just love you! We are already friends. You are good to go. Got a few friend requests and will be putting together a group shortly.

    Happy Columbus Day all!

  • Karenlee

RubberDucky, I have a mom that might want to join. The more the merrier.

  • RubberDucky

    Karenlee,

    Absolutely! The more the merrier.

  • WaterRetriever

Thank you for taking the task on RubberDucky.

  • WaterRetriever

    Rubberducky.... feelings are mutual.

Oh I need to update you......I will message.

  • RubberDucky

Good afternoon Ladies, and Happy Saturday!

I have the start of our EOD PM group. I have to do a little admin here. In order for us all to communicate and read each other's messages, we need to all be "friends." So far, I have the following interested moms. Please make sure that you are "friends" with everyone in this list. The easiest way to do that is to read my next "admin message" on the PM group. Click on each name and it will bring up their profile. If you are not their friend, you can "send friend request." It's as easy as that. Here is who we have so far.

Dear prayer mom, just talked to my so . He said dive prep is hard but he can make it. Hate to say but nothing is easy in EOD. I am sure he will do well. Mine said just to practice as much as he can. Hope this helps. Will keep you guys in prayers.

  • Gmoneymom

Hello! I am new to the group and wanted to reach out to see if there are any other Moms on this group chat with their child due to be completed with the 2 week quarantine tomorrow? My son left 2 weeks ago...I am curious if anyone is in the same timeframe as my son?

  • NJNavyMom

    Hi and welcome!
My son has been in 11 years now.
    He loves it!!
Good luck! I hope you find someone whose son is in the same timeline.

  • Karenlee

  • Gmoneymom

    Hello NJNavyMom & Karenlee-

Thanks for the shout out. YES I would love to connect with another mom who is currently with the same timing...it helps to ease the worry! Long road ahead and lots of prayers!

  • NavyM♥m

My son has been in for 9 years. Has any EOD Moms been to Guam? I see a trip in my future & would like any suggestions on planning a trip there. Thanks.

  • cao503

    Hello,

My son just started quarantine but would love to chat.

  • RooDog

    Hi all and welcome Gmoneymom!
My son started in the EOD pipeline in October. He graduated from dive school a few weeks ago and now at Eglin and will soon start EOD school. He loves the EOD community and excited to finally start EOD school. Lots of ROM (quarantine) with every move has made the pipeline super long. Dive school was definitely intense.
Gmoneymom, hope your son does well! Happy to share more with you as my son is only 6 months ahead of your son in a long pipeline.
  • cao503

    Hello RooDog,

So happy to hear how well its been going for you and your son. It is a long process.

    Hello,

I should add my son has arrived at Great Lakes on Monday and is in quarantine. He was at the compound in Little Creek VA.

  • Karenlee

    Hello,

EOD pipeline seemed long to me and now you have to add in quarantine. Never been to Guam, mine went to Spain after school. He has been to Guam when he was on deployment prior to joining EOD and loved it. Keeping everyone in my thoughts and prayers.
