    Hello RooDog and All!

I am hoping his quarantine is completed..today is the 15th day since he arrived. I did see the "schedule" and never even thought about ROM in between as well. Makes sense just of course hard to keep up and know what stage my kid is in. He is 27 so had a full career and "life experiences" prior to deciding he wanted to follow his fathers footsteps and enlist. My ex (his father) was a Navy Diver and instructor for 17 years from 1987-2005. I do have a bit of recollection from my "Navy Diver Wife" days however; these days it is quite different...adding ROM in to the mix. Do you remember if they can make more than 1 phone call inbetween ROM and training or no calls at all during this timeframe? His Father and I are hoping he will be able to call us both..to update us.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Glad to hear your son is enjoying EOD school. Prayers for all our boys/men. and any women of course as well!!

  • RooDog

My son has been able to call & text during ROM, and after training each day. We hear from him a lot!

    Blessings,

Anyone new on here since the Follow along group on FB may make some changes?

  • NavyM♥m

"Follow along group" ?  Sorry, what is that?

  • Wildcat_girl

I am, WaterRetriever. But you know that already.
  • WaterRetriever

    Family follow along.

    Hi all,

It’s been way too long since anyone has posted here. Hope all is well with you all. My son is now in underwater, last division of EOD school, and hopefully will graduate in March.  Such a long pipeline! Will have been 1.5 years!  So excited for him!  It’s been and continues to be very challenging and often stressful pipeline. I guess to be expected given their extraordinary and dangerous career path.
Hope to get some updates from this group.
Happy New Year and God Bless,

    RooDog

Happy new year everyone! My son will soon be leaving Eglin and teaming up again. After ten years he still loves the work he does.
I hope all is well with everyone.

    Karenlee, East!

  • Karenlee

Mine is east too . We have visited there and it was nice. Their traffic is crazy but it’s crazy where live.

Hi All - hope you are well and your children are happy and enjoying EOD.  My son completed the training and is now out there (are we allowed to say where they are stationed?).  We were able to see him at Xmas so that was great!  Hang in there amazing ladies.

    Hello Moms!
I'm happy to hear so many of you got to see your EOD techs over the Holidays! My son enlisted 10 years ago. About the first 5 Christmases he was able to come home to Florida. I went out to Coronado for 1 Christmas. But now I haven't seen him the past 4 Christmases. He earns extra vacation days when he's deployed out of the country. Sometimes he flys to Fla. for a few weeks after he gets back from Deployments. Currently he's in a Mobile Unit living in Guam for the next few years. I'm just playing the waiting game now for word when his work will allow him time to spend with me when I go there. It's too far to go if he'll be working the whole time I'm there. He LOVES his job. I was scared at first, but after seeing how long the pipeline is and what all he's learned, I'm comfortable knowing that all the drills & exercises they do causes muscle memory & quick automatic reaction times. He takes his Master Board soon. Another big milestone!
    Hope everyone's 2022 is btter than 2021.

Happy Saturday! I havnt been on here in months. My son is officially starting the pipeline in Panama City. he arrived yesterday and i am very excited and beyond nervous!!  The training is intense and i am quite proud he passed all the PT tests to receive his certificate to officially begin his training. The holidays were great he was home for 2 weeks. His Bday is 12.17 so we had him home for both. :) Lots of prayers now and any advice is helpful.

Navymom,  my son was in Guam for seven and a half years and he loved it.  We went 3 times during his stay there, if you get the chance go it’s so beautiful. I hope your son enjoys his stay in Guam. My son and his family are now stateside until 2023 in driving distance so we visit often. However he wants to go back to Guam if he can.

  • NavyM♥m

Regina, so glad to hear from some one who's been there done that. I am sooo looking forward to going! My son is always so busy it's hard to find time to spend with him. When I do get any sort of timeline it's always subject to change....and it usually does. Then Covid comes along. Airlines shut down....BUT I'LL GET THERE!!

What were some of your favorite things to do there? How long has your son been in EOD?
Thanks for any suggestions you may have for me.

  • prayermom

Good beautiful cold morning!  Glad to see some conversation coming back around.  Hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday season and got to see your son or daughter.

My son also is headed to Guam for the first time.  He seems very excited about the opportunity.  However, it is a long way from home for this mom.  I would appreciate any other comments or suggestions.  He is currently in the mad scramble to find housing, schedule shipping his belongings and ALL that entails for moving across the world!  We really want to help out but just don't know how.  I'm excited for him to have this experience.

    Thanks to all :)

  • prayermom

BTW, I am also open and very happy to connect with anyone to private message as well.

  • Karenlee

Navymom- my son went into the Navy in 2011 on an EOD contract. Guam was his first duty station after the EOD pipeline.  He was in Guam from March 2013 until August of 2020.
There’s so much to history on the island.  There’s a museum just outside the Navy base that’s nice, also  there’s the area where the US stormed Guam to take the island bake from Japan in 1944. There’s really so much to see. If you have any questions, ask hopefully I can find the answers from my son or daughter in law, she from Guam.

  • Regina

prayermom- your son should have a sponsor to help him with any of his needs and answer any of his questions.  My son used a realtor for his housing   Housing in Guam has to approved and inspected by Navy housing too.

  • prayermom

Thank you all so very much for being helpful and also some really interested facts.  We are excited for him and anticipate a visit in the future.  I will pass along the information.

  • prayermom

Final questions:  Any recommendation of a realtor in Guam?  OR a recommended complex or condo unit?

  • prayermom

Anyone is welcome to private message me if preferred.

  • Regina

Prayermom- I contacted my son for the realtor information. He said he would contact her to see if she was available. If she is I’ll private message you the information. It might be a few days with the time difference.

  • prayermom

    Thank you so much!!

  • RubberDucky

Been quiet for awhile. My son is celebrating his 4 year anniversary today and just reenlisted for another 4. Four years in and still has not yet had his first deployment. Crazy. He will be going to South Korea at the end of the year. It'

s been lots of training for him. Hope everyone is doing well. I can't believe how the four years have flown.

  • WaterRetriever

Yes this chat has been quiet for awhile
  • WaterRetriever

    My sailor awaits school.
    Congratulations.... RubberDucky.
You have been quiet on many places.
  • RubberDucky

Working two jobs has kept me busy. lol And nothing to report on him but lots of training--jumping, climbing, shooting, etc. Is "School" the start of EOD training WaterRetriever?

  • WaterRetriever

    Yep unless required elsewhere.
    He has recommendations for UCT.
    He is an EA.
He is required 2 years seaduty now with his new rank.
Heck his new contracts have been conflicting with availability at EOD...
Yet I do see advanced sailors go through there.
  • WaterRetriever

    Anyone still here ?

  • NavyM♥m

I'm still here! My son is stationed on an island FAR away. He got married last year & just became a daddy (my first biological grand child ) for the first time in Dec. He's been on leave for the birth but returns to work next week. In 2 weeks he deploys overseas. In a few months I'll be going to see all of them!  Rumor has it he'll make Chief in 2023.

  • RooDog

Hi all! I’m still here. My son finished school last spring and is now stationed in VB and in active pre-deployment training.  We plan to visit him again some time this spring.  He seems settled in and likes his community.  Would love to hear from more of you!

  • picknel

Hello!  my son is in Rota, Spain and deployed at times.  Rota is a nice area and I was able to visit him near Thanksgiving.  Hope you are all doing well.

  • NavyM♥m

Hello Moms! My son has been in Guam for 2 years. Hopefully going back to San Diego next year. His wife had a baby girl  in Dec. My 1st biological grandchild. I will be going to Guam as soon as he gives me the "OK". I don't want to fly all that way from Fla. if he'll be gone on a deployment. I have 7 "step" grandchildren but this one is SPECIAL!

  • WaterRetriever

    Beautiful.

  • NJNavyMom

Hi all! My son is now in VB. We love having him closer to home! He will be teaming up in April.

    Navymom, your granddaughter is beautiful!

  • NavyM♥m

Thank you!  I can't wait to meet her!

  • RooDog

    Beautiful baby girl! ❤️

  • prayermom

What a beautiful baby girl!  So nice to hear an update from all of you.  I've not checked in a while.   Our son has also been in Guam for almost one year now.  Loving the work and a new adventure.  Miss getting to talk to him as the time difference and their schedule does not allow for much.  Hoping to make a trip over at some point.  Pictures look awesome!  Really looking forward to that.  Again, great to hear from everyone.

  • prayermom

Prayers going out for all in Guam!!!

  • Karenlee

What happened? Hope everyone is safe.

  • prayermom

Near Category 5 Super Typhoon projected to make a direct or near direct hit on Guam.  Prayers for safety for all!

  • NavyM♥m

My son Facetimed me from Guam today 11 am his time. He said the Typhoon is expected to be a direct hit (150mph CAT 5) at approximately between 1 pm until 6 pm Guam time. People living in lower elevations were told to go to schools for shelter. Flooding in lower areas is expected. It is supposed to be the worst storm to hit Guam in decades. If anyone on here knows more info please post. Thank you.

  • prayermom

I have not been on this group page in a long time.  Hoping that it is still active.  Looking for any tips on mailing items to Guam.  Have tried the FPO a couple of times.  2 of the 3 packages made it.  Inquired about an actual physical address....FedEx & UPS are options but very expensive.  Advised that USPS has no tracking.

Any experience or help would be greatly appreciated.  (Thought about a brightly colored box....just to draw attention to it! Ha!Ha!)  Thanks to all, hope everyone is doing well :)

    Prayermom I have some suggestions
