I'm hoping they replay it on ABC world news this evening. My grandmother said she watched about a 10 minute segment earlier and thought it was very interesting. All I've been able to see so far is about a 3 minute clip.
Dumb question but since it was on news can i post this on facebook for family to see?? Thank you so much for sharing these!! Its just so great to see the ship and know he is on there somewhere!!
Ok it's on YouTube. Look up ABC News USS George H W Bush and it's down to a 4+video I believe (Life on the Bush). If one of you tech people can attach that would be awesome.
the most recent navy times article ( link was posted on here earlier) gives the length of deployment for several units so that bit of information has been made public... just of course no exact dates were mentioned
I am! I paused and rewound about a dozen times. Then took pictures while it was paused. lol. I also heard from him last night. It's been a good couple of days. Can't wait to see him come into port. My husband, younger son and I are all flying out from Texas to be there. We're all very excited.
Morning ladies...I've had a couple write and ask why I have not posted much and for that I apologize. I started a new job three weeks ago and it seems that is all I have time for at the moment. If you have questions or need assistance from me specifically, please send a message and I'll get back to you. Hope everyone is well.
thanks Tracy that made me happy :-)
I was wondering if anyone has had a sailor receive a package this week or last? my sailor birthday is in a couple days and im hoping mine makes it!!
Not heard from my husband at all for the past two days and he has TAD right now. He said all he does is make ice cream all day long... I am right in the middle of moving too and need him. :( Wish I knew why I wasn't hearing from him since it seems like everyone else is getting messages and phone calls. This is really bad timing to not be hearing from him and he like always messages me every day. Has anyone else had issues the past couple of days from not hearing from their loved ones?
I don't have anyone else really as of right now until this moving process is completed... My support group is in Va, where my husband got stationed, but he was deployed immediately almost three months ago while I was stuck in Fl.
Hoping mine gets he's soon. Haven't heard from him lately knowing he is working very long hours as they all are. Hope to hear from him when he gets it.
I didn't know about the cut off date right away for sending packages. So, I am going to do something a little bit more special for when he comes home to our new house in Va. :) I plan on decorating the house and make it the way we were both wanting it done. I'm going to go with the color schemes he wanted for sure. I just bought a new bed suit that I know he'll love because he wants us to one day go to Paris and it's Paris themed. :) I'm super excited! I shall be there in a couple of days. I cannot wait to get started!
I'm glad all your packages made it that quickly... I'm hoping mine gets there soon as well or came today!.... my sailor recently got switched to the night shift so our communication isn't as often but I did hear from him yesterday briefly...
Stuntsmom, that's so opposite of us. When ours was on nights we had more phone calls and emails. Now that he is on days we haven't heard from him, but knowing deployment soon will come to an end keeps us going. I just know that they are all working so hard on this deployment.
Please don’t get discouraged if suddenly it seems you are not hearing from your loved one. With all the activity going on – the free time they used to have might be limited right now.
I know I didn’t hear from my Sailor via phone until a month ago (very first ship to shore call – EVER!!) I’ve sat around for three years watching many posts go by how some heard almost daily from their sailor while I was lucky to get an email once every few months. Different departments have different free time.
Rest assured they are thinking of you always just as I’m sure you are of them. Keep sending positive prayers and mojo to them. They’ll feel it :-)
chris_mom1995 my sailor also works in the galley! when they had inspection in va back in January he hard to get a hold of! didn't know they were doing inspection... makes sense the decreased contact thanks
Anita in Ohio, that's so true! Just cuz u may c others skyping on t.v., or may hear, at church, someone who got daily emails, it doesn't mean we will all b so lucky, darn it.
I've heard of emailing only when they have an office position, some ships my b set up for easier weekly type phone calls, n I've also heard of the unlucky folks whose entire family's hear absolutely nothing, as tho their loved one has been wiped off the face of the earth, please excuse that expression (but I THINK their loved one could receive, but not send emails).
So, keep the faith, everyone. I have to transcribe a special email, for the entire crew, that pays homage/honors folks from all depts., the sailor who lost his leg, and the sailor who (there may be many in this position) lost his Grandpa.
I hope to send an email full of jokes, when I get use of a computer again, and may gather some inspirational thoughts, from family members, to warm my sailor's heart mind and soul, because they're from all the family, more than anything.
Our sailors are lucky to be loved and cherished. And we are lucky to have all it is they have to give, with their monumental and honorable efforts included.
God bless to all, if it's okay to say that. It doesn't feel right to apologize for saying something like that with all the religiously based "commotion" out there, presently. I've been seeing more spiritually based posts, these days, which I happen to find comfort in.
Go Pink venom! It sounds like your sweetheart will be SO pleasantly surprised.
I've gotten a couple of good "coffee table" books. They're theme-based, as well, although not as exciting as a whole bedroom suite. One is a beautiful book on the world's greatest cities, which, my retired Army b/f of 20 years and my sailor can enjoy discussing. The other is a special edition magazine, also with some wonderful pics, on various cultures across the world... the good, the bad, AND the ugly, over the past generations.
Pretty pictures, and lighter conversation on various parts of the world, amongst loved ones, I'm hoping, will be a welcomed part of our conversations, all together, eventually. Sharing in stories about beautiful and awesome places, like Portugal, for instance, or eating "real" stuffed grape leaves in Greece, and the best mojito you ever did have, in Italy, is something I am so yearning for. <3
Hi everyone. I'm new to this group. My daughter left Norfolk on Tuesday for the ship. We got to follow her with her text messages all the way to the last stop before she was flown out to the ship. I was hoping to hear from her today to let us know she made it safely aboard, but nothing...Did anyone's Sailor have to be flown out to the ship? Did you get a call or email? I don't even have an email address for her..
My husband was flown out in late april and didn't get to email me until late June it took forever to get his email but he called me within a few days on board.
Mloopey_Norfolk bound, welcome to the group. She is probably busy getting all settled on the ship. She will have to set up her ship e-mail, I'm not sure who she has to talk to. They will probably go over all that with her this week.
hi, My son arrived on the Bush two weeks ago. Took 2 days to get there. He was able to call me from the ship (commanders office phone). It was a quick call. They are supposed to set up their email, and I was afraid he gave my old email instead of a new one, so I sent an email, and they forwarded it to Peters initial supvr. about 2 days later, he sent me a text, saying he's been extremely busy, getting set up and hopes to have his email any day. It's been about two weeks, but I've also been reading, there is no communication going from the ship right now, so that may be why I have not heard from him! Other than that, that's all I know. I have joined a couple of groups including this one, and they've been very helpful. Tracy
Good Morning; and it always is when we hear from our sailors.
I dont know about others but with all the action going on around the ship; I have turned into a Youtube finactic; as there are things posted daily from the ship, very nice to see a part of their days....
Pondering & Courious to why sailors are being sent to the ship still inlight of upcoming events.??

I don't know if this is an "official" paper, but they do quote the Secretary of the Navy in the article. Either way, it's interesting.
