    HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!

  • mama bear

    marine navy mom,

although this one isn't very active I have felt really comfortable with this group, some of the groups I feel like I am an outsider looking in.  I don't know alot about the service area.  And because of my health issues, I have trouble remembering alot of things so I feel that I am a bother to other people if I have to keep asking the same thing over.  But here in this group I feel more comfortable with my silly questions, maybe because it is smaller and way I will stick by this group until there is no more.  Have a Great Weekend

  • tina41

good morning!!   happy saturday!!!   wish you all a wonderfully blessed day!!!

  • mama bear

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend, here where I live the weather was lovely, just a nice day fall day not to cool not to hot just right.  Spent some time outside and it felt good since my stress level is running off the charts at this moment.  To many of my relatives and friends are in need of understanding and support  during their difficult times that they are exeperiencing they all look toward me for support, advice, and handling some major decisions that they can't bring themselve to make.  These are  times that I really miss my daughter that's in the Navy, she and I could handle most medical conditions or support for everyone together we were like a rock that didn't break but remained strong for others.

Moma bear, I can totally relate!!! My daughter and I are the same way! I'm just glad boot camp is over so I can at least talk to her on the phone. That helps some!
  • Kathleen10

Hi Momofbp, I know exactly what you're talking about. My son felt he had made a huge mistake. He is doing better now, finally started A school at Great Lakes. I am not sure what or where NAS is. Has he gotten to come home yet? After 5 1/2 months my son came home, he felt so much better after that. Hang in there.--Kathleen
  • mama bear

I agree, as mom's we feel the pain of our children no matter what no matter where.  It is really important when you talk or write to him you stay positive.  When my daughter was in boot camp she develope lots of stress fractures so she was at boot camp for almost 5 months.  She became very discourage and to much thinking and down time takes a toll on their emotions.  I would always end our letters with some quote from a prayer book, or something funny.  She said she looked for to those letters because of that.  Will keep your son in our prayers, momoflbp.  It will get better after he phrases up.  From daughter is a A school right now in Missouri, and she is able to go off base, she has been to football games, movies, out to eat, and shopping since then.
  • mama bear

my daughter still has trouble with the one in her right femur, and hip.  She said now that she is climbing up and down to get up in those big rigs, her pain is intensiving and of coarse all the running and marching doesn't help much either.  I hope she doesn't have this problem the rest of her life.  Sounds like your son has got his happy attitude back.  What we take for granted these men and women can change their whole attitude by phasing up.  I wish I could do that in areas of my life.  Congratulations to your son and yourself for hanging in there.

Momofbp hi I sent you a message. Happy to stay in touch.
  • tina41

happy monday!!  hope everyone is having a good day!!

  • mama bear

Thank you for that thought, I haven't seen my daughter for almost 9 months now and everyday it's a struggle to keep going but I know that she is where she wants to be even though she has had a tough time in BC and now in A school.  But you are right there isn't anything that we can do except be there with encouragement words and prayers.  We all have to set our children free someday but it doesn't make it any easier.
  • Mary...Brittsmom

momofbp, my daugther has several Navy friends stationed in P-Cola right now and has heard nothing. For prople to be seperated at this stage it has to be something pretty big. I do know that some in San Antonio were either moved to undesignated and one was completely seperated due to conduct unbecoming to the Navy.
  • Mary...Brittsmom

I have wonderful news!!! My girl passed the OC spray today!!! So proud of her for sticking with it!!!

  • Mary...Brittsmom

Sorry to hear that. If all goes well with my girl she will be done with a school December 16 and home for Christmas. I am really struggling with not being able to see her for Thanksgiving. This is the life they have chosen and we are along for the ride whether we like it or not.
  • mama bear

Also thanks so marine navy mom You have provide alot of good information here.  I am confuse with one small area, my daughter is in A school right now on a army base, then she said when she graduates from A school she will be heading for a Marine base.  I thought when she joined the Navy she was going to only be in the Navy so I confused why she trains at these other bases.
  • tina41

good morning everyone!!  hope you all enjoyed the extra hour of sleep (for those you got it) this morning!!
  • trisha'sA1Son

Hello, my son is now at A school in Pensacola, FL. His PIR was 11/4/11.

  • trisha'sA1Son

    Hello,

I was wondering about Thanksgiving Break.  Will my sailor be allowed to come home for Thanksgiving?

  • trisha'sA1Son

    Marine navy mom,

Thanks for the info.  My son has an E1 rating.  I will look through the other groups to join also.  Thanks again.

  • Raberta

My son just left for A School in P, FL.  I AM SO PROUD OF HIM!!  PIR was 11/4/11.
  • trisha'sA1Son

    Sorry Marine navy mom,

My son's rank is E1 and IT is his area of study.

  • trisha'sA1Son

I'm not at liberty to discuss.  WOW!  Funny, he had used this phrase several times in high school.  lol
  • mama bear

    Congratulations to your daughter!
  • Raberta

My son is E2 and AA is his field of study.  How do we receive the address for A School?  Will my sailor have to send it, or is there someone who can send to our email accounts?

  • ISH-MOM

Your Son will have to give you the address.  they are given "po boxes" to receive mail. He should also give you another regular address to send care packs to.  as UPS doesnt deliver to PO BOXES.  Or you can call the A School and get the info sometimes.
  • Raberta

Thanks for responding.  I think I'll just wait for the info to come.  He wasn't sure if he could take some of the things that came as gifts, one being a St. Christopher medal for safe travels.
  • ISH-MOM

Rabert - Your son can take his medal, they cannot stop them from the religous beliefs.  they dont have much room for personal items, but tell him to take it!  I sent  my son carepacks to A school monthly, he was in Groton, CT.

  • trisha'sA1Son

Thanks marine navy mom for the info. Tickets are $600 to travel to Pensacola, but I'll pay it to see my 1st born.
  • mama bear

    Hello everyone,

Just got back from picking up my daughter from graduation from A school she gets to be home for about 13 days than off to combat training.  It's so good to have her home even though she has a new kind of attitude and she expects the people back home to follow her strick schedule and do things they way she was taught in boot camp and A school.  Even though we have had our runs already it's good to have her home, reminds me of the good ole days.

  • tina41

    good morning!!

mama bear--glad to here you have your daughter home for a little while.  i have the feeling it will be like that with food choices when my son comes home for christmas.

  • mama bear

I wish she could be here for the holidays but aleast she is home now for a while.  I know the holidays are going to be hard but I also know this is what she wanted she likes new experiences and she has one now.

  • McMom

Hey everyone!    I read a post on ideas for care packages to send to our sailors..great ideas.  My sailor has requested paper towels(which I use to pad the box I send) Febreeze, Swiffers with extra dust pads...he must be a cleaning machine..funny, he wasn't at home     he uses the Tide sticks I added.   small frames for pictures he has collected, some of his comfortable civies clothes and some food items, like Easy Mac n'Cheese bowls, Wheat Thins, and Minimuffins   He said they had a day off for Veterans Day and that manyof the restaurants were offering free meals for the sailors/Vets.  Very nice...Take care everyone

  • ISH-MOM

McMom@ My Son always wanted ramen and spag o's. Home made cookies/bars are always a treat!  Tolietries are a plus! I used to go to the dollar store and stock pile on the stuff!  You can even order online and they will ship direct.

  • Raberta

I was laid out yesterday because instead of getting a root canal, I had to have the tooth extracted.  So it was great to hear from my son last night. I'm glad they can have some civilian clothes, I think I'll pack a couple of outfits for him to wear out there.  Now I'm not sure if it was the haze of pain meds, or sleepiness but I think I promised a huge bowl of banana pudding!  He was happy to get the first package I sent with the pics from PIR.

  • mama bear

good day, hope all of you are having a good weekend, first I was counting down the days when she could come home but now the time has went so fast and now I have to start counting down the days that she will leave.  Oh How I miss her already.  She said I could drive her to the airport but I must say our good byes at the door.  I will do as she ask but I think this is for her benfit as well as mine.  She has never wanted to cry in front of anyone in public, so we will shed our tears is silent.

  • tina41

    hello all!!

mama bear-- it is always hard letting me them go again when they come home.   i know it will be hard when my son comes home for christmas.   i have started calling the school his home.  it kinda helps me to keep reality in check.  i know his heart is here with us   i will have to remember that though when he goes to leave again!!LOL  hugs for you and your daughter!!

  • Raberta

Thanks marine-navymom.  I am feeling better.  It's a little weird preparing to make Thanksgiving dinner when he won't be here.  I think I'll keep it small and do it up big when he comes home in December.  Another menu request:  My crispy fried chicken, mashed potatoes and corn.  Desserts:  Marble cake, strawberry cake and more banana pudding!  LOL...Have a great holiday everyone.

  • ISH-MOM

  • Raberta

He's asked me to send some of his "civies" to A School.  Any suggestions on how to pack it?  Best rates for shipping?  Anything would be helpful.  My son wears a size 16 shoe.  That alone is one package!  LOL

  • ISH-MOM

Raberta - I just used plain boxes and shipped out ups.  you can go online and get quotes by weight and size of box.  Its all about the same $$. try and fit as much in one box as you can,  if you go UPS sometimes they box by size as well as weight.  They go me a couple of times that way..,

  • Dawn L.

Raberta- If you go to USPS you can order a set of 8 boxes for priority shipping. They are FREE. No cost for them to send them to you. They take about 7-10 days, but you will have them when he needs you to send him something.
  • Raberta

Thanks for the hints Navy Moms!  I'll get started this weekend!

  • mama bear

Just wanted to let everyone know that we had a early Thanksgiving, and my daughter is back to her next post.  She ask me not to cry when she left from the airport and God gave me the strengh not to do that but boy when I got to end of the road my tears flowed long and hard.  It's gloomy here today at our home, the weather is gloomy and no one is saying much.  I talked to my daughter at 6am this morning and she sound tired, because there is a mix up with her Navy Federal account again she has very little cash on her for anything.  She had to wait at the airport for another Seabee to come and than together they shared the fare of a cab.  Being the holiday I don't know if she can get anything done with the account, on this end I trying to transfer funds to the account from her local account but I couldn't make it work.  She has a debt card for the local account but she is afraid that the Navy Account will become overdrawn before she gets the funds in it.  While she was home the Navy Account checkbook has come up missing, we are not sure what happen to it, the Navy Account branch was notified and they are going to put a stop payment on all transactions from the time they recieved my call.  However we don't know what is in there and what has come out yet, they notifed her while in the air by text that her account was low and she needed to make a deposit as soon as possible.  So now she is very worried about it same as me.  This is the second time she has left for her next post and had trouble with the account.  I just hate having her so far away and not being able to help her out, with the money situation.  Well hope everyone is having a wonderful Holiday with their loved ones where ever they may be.
