Welcome Chief. My son's already gone thru FMTB and is currently in Afghanistan with his guys. He'll be returning this month and I can't wait. So while others are going to CP to see a graduation, I'll be going to see a homecoming :0)
Cindy...How wonderful for you! I can't believe that you haven't seen him in 3 years. It's only been 6 months for me and it feels like an eternity. I bet you can't wait to meet your daugher in law and grandson too. It's going to be an extra special homecoming. Congratulations!
Good Morning All, I have been following this group while my cub is in A school...Thank you all for answering the questions I have and others...
Well, I can now post with assurance that T has past every test with a gpa of 87% up to today, he will take test 11 today and 12 on Friday of this week then clinicals and then who knows...looks like well have to see the first Oct. for the new Military budget!! to see when he will class up in fmtb...sure am hoping for CP is only a 4 hr drive to see T.
Just a thought...for all who have or will have a sailor stationed at CP. It would give me great pleasure to host a sailor and or Family to check out the central coast of Cali anytime...
Good evening everyone... Just checking in. I just got done speaking with DJ. Looks like they are going out for a few days so I won't have contact with him. He is going off to his next station Wednesday so we changed our plans to arrive earlier and hopefully we will be able to spend more time with him. I hope everyone is doing well.
Hi Jacqueline, What a short/fun trip...and I'm so happy that K liked his new/used car, now he has motorized legs to get from point A to B and all he has to do is jump in no more waiting for a taxi...and paying those fees.
Well T tells me last night that he scored a 90% on test 11 and test 12 on Friday then he is finished. Yeah!! He said he will receive his caduceus on Friday...then he will feel satisfied.
Well since he went reservist and his contract says go to bc then to Corpsman A school then off to fmtb. He is hoping CP because his marine battalion will most likely be at CP and then off to 29 Palms one weekend a month for training. Usually that's the drill but with the budget situation who really knows at this point...
Mine went directly from Corps school to CP where he went thru FMTB and then a few months later he deployed to Afghanistan. He's returning next week and I'll be going done for the Homecoming. Can't wait to see him again.
He was only there for 5 months, but it seemed like an eternity. I didn't realize how much I would worry, but it's so volital over there and I found myself sitting on pins and needles much of the time especially when you would hear of someone loosing their life. I would worry everytime the phone rang or someone strange would come to the door. I just hope that he doesn't have to go back. When he originally received his orders it was for 3 years in CP. When he gets back he'll be working at the BAS and just waiting to see if he'll get another assignment. Maybe this time it will be a MEU.
Please, Realize that I'm only speaking for my cub who is a Reservists!! They are a total different ball game....the training is exactly the same as an enlist man(with enlist man) but the contracts are different. My cub has a 6 yr. contract as a Reservist with the Navy...his orders come on Navy time!!
hi all. i am new to this group but it is nice to see some faces/names on here from other groups that i am in as well. my bf is in GL right now and just took test 10. test 11 on monday and test 12 on fri. then clinicals and graduation! i can't wait to see him a graduation! because he will miss the next FMTB schooling starting on the 13th or so of oct. some of his class is graduating a week early so they can go before c schools start. so it looks as though he will be going to the jan 24th class of FMTB. he learns more about everything on thrus. i am super excited and nervous for it all. i plan to move to cali if all goes well! a little nervous about that too. cali is expenisve! anyways his orig orders are to be stationed there for 3 yrs. but reading your posts about how that was what was supposed to happen with others and then they got deployed makes me worry! i know anything is possible. i am still trying to get used to having the love of my life in the military. as much as i am SO VERY PROUD OF HIM, i am trying to get used to not counting and planning on anything. i am sure i will be on here often for advice! thanks for reading this! just trying to get aquantied with ANYTHING that will help me get ANY info!
Jacqueline, you are correct and he starts clinicals on Monday...test 12 this Friday and he is really excited to be receiving his caduceus on Friday also.
I'm hoping that he will go to CP for fmtb so we could take him his car, we have it stored on our property.
Tristan Mom- Congrats on test 11.. I will send good thoughts your way for test 12.. almost there. you must be proud!
Jacqueline- He will leave first thing Wednesday so we changed our plans to arrive Saturday and stay thru Wednesday. I'm so excited to see him. Good to hear he liked his car. I actually have to drive back the car DJ was using at CP. I'm glad he had a car while he was there. It made it eaiser for him to see family when he had liberty.
Ruth, All I can say is your cub must have a steady hand and a quick mind to handle Explosives!! I would be sooo Proud of him to be "asked" or Offered such a rate...I know you are very Proud...and it takes a spirit bigger than most...Good Luck with the decision.
Hey there Jacqln, So what your saying is...After test 12 tomorrow T will go to the Nex, purchase the"patch" is the caduceus a patch I thought it was a Pin?!
Good Evening All,
I wanted to post that T took his test 12 and passed with flying colors...OH MY!! Does it feel sooo good to hear your cubs voice after he completed A school weekly testing with an average of 90%...speaks volumes to T and ALL the sailors who said" I'm really going to take this journey as if I were tested on my work ethics...values and standards of which my fore fathers wrote that in the constitution of the United States". Needless to say my hubby & myself could not be prouder!!
Ruth, As your cub has demonstrated...he is giving it his All and he is being rewarded for just that...it called options!!
Tristian's mom- CONGRATS!! what a wonderful feeling. Be proud. i know I was when i got that call.
Jacqueline- DJ is not shipping the car. He called today and he is apparently planning on buying one when he gets to his destination.?? we'll see. he has been saving his money and after planning it out he says he can do it. so we'll see. but if you wouldn't mind on passing along that information about shipping a car that would be great. I'm sure it might come in handy.
Ruth- i have keeping good thoughts and prayers for your cub. I'm sure things will work out for him. What an honor to be asked. Proud mother moment for you. You did a great job raising him.
Has anyone heard anything about graduation details yet?
Jacqueline, Thanks for the support...T posted on his fb that he can't wait to come home for a couple of weeks after clinicals. He is trying to get arranged to get 2 weeks here in San Luis Obispo County of work with his recruiter s office, than use his 2 weeks saved up for the holidays, then off to Camp Pendelton and than fmtb...we shall see where he ends up!!
Jesspoo05, your BF has been doing very well thus far...he's on the down hill and gaining momentum...No worries!! All he needs to do is picture him self where he wants to belong. I know how excited you are to start really putting your plans into action & starting your search for moving closer to him...Keep up the positive...
T called me today, He said he was on patrol checking barracks...He has the worst migraine happening. He went to the doc, gave him some Tylenol and asked him if he wanted to talk"your obviously stressed out" about No orders still. T said Yes Sir!! He just wanted to talk to mom...it made me feel good...that he wanted ME!! But I'm worried...
thanks all! Bf got a 94 on test 11!! YAY! one more!! yeah he has been doing well! i am so super proud of him!! I have been doing a lot of research on things but of course can't really plan on anything yet. still don't even know when he will get his leave after a school. i am planning on staying till the mon after his thurs grad. but he may get his leave right after grad. he has soft orders but not sure if they are going to change or not. but guess that is what i have to look forward to for the next at least 5 years. it was easier planning my trip after bc then a school....oh well! hope all is well with everyone!
bf takes his LAST AND FINAL TEST TOMORROW! test 12 here we come!! of course he has duty the day before.. nothing new though!! thoughts and prayers please and thank you! hope all is well!
Hi Jacqueline, Yes...T got his orders in hand, he will grad n go to CP and class up no later than 10/12/10 for FMTB...T said that once he received his orders in hand the Migraines subsided. You, and everyone have been there for me...I think I would have gone crazy if I had to keep the roller coaster of emotions inside...{{{{BIG HUGS TO ALL}}}}}
Jess...YAY...What a feeling isn't it when our Sailors are on a roll with A school weekly test...momentum gains, they gear up for the finish line and then everything a lines... test become easier and you're actually retaining something that you learned and can actually apply those applications. Electric!!
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has any infor they could give me. My bf is set to grad from a school on oct 14th. and gets leave after it. we are not sure if his leave is going to be literally that day or maybe start the next day. he as to report to his next station on the 28th of oct. my brother (who is in the military but not navy) seems to think that he will get it starting the next day because of "out proccessing" and if there is anyone that needs to leave sooner they will do theirs on the 14th and wait for my bf till the 15th. now i know that very situation is different but i thought maybe some of you would have some experinces in this and have info or advice on it... thanks!!
Proudnavygf- I just showed my drivers liscense and my registration and insurance told them where i was going and got on the base. maybe we will see each other tomorrow. I am already here hanging out. Congrats!
Ruth VH, Hi and thanks for the info...I am hoping for T and your cub will meet and class up the same time!! T, has a 08 Altima car sitting here on our property...hubby has two covers over it and a mini solar panel to keep the batteries charged...so when he gos out to start it up...it will. lol We thought that he would be able to utilize it on base...I'm hoping so anyway...we will have to see...
Hi all. I see some familiar faces and Jamie leaves in 8 days for San Diego, so I'd better start reading up on this group. He's been home for two full days and said he misses his "guy" friends already!
Pam, Tristan called today, looks like he is Grad N Go Wednesday evening or Thursday. He will class up on the 13th of Oct. Here's hoping he will get Columbus Day 3 day weekend to come home to the Central Coast.
That's great news T's Mom! Jamie went to muster on Friday morning and was told then he was going on leave! Talk about last minute. They should be in the same class at CP. He's really looking forward to it.
RuthVH, I'm so very happy for your cub...He must be "someone very special" to get the attention of his highest piers...GO NAVY!! I want you to know, you are blessed all the way around!!
Hey Jacqueline, Congratulations!! It sounds like you all had a very fun time, I'm so happy for you All.
Well, Look out Camp Pendleton...Tristan graduated today from Corpsman A school today and on his way home tomorrow for leave and will class up next week on the 13th!!
Thanks Jacqline, I'm trying to find a cheap flight from San Diego to either Las Vegas or to anywhere in our area to get Tristan home...the Navy will only pay for a flight to San Diego from GL's
Jacqueline - Sounds like you had a wonderful time! I can relate on the amount of food consumed. I took Jamie to Red Lobster after A School graduation last Wed. and I swear the child ate 6 pounds of seafood! And since he's been home since Friday, we have had steak, lasagna, pizza and pulled pork. We don't eat out that much and Jamie so appreciated a home cooked meal. Although his Dad was fussing because within two days Jamie was leaving his clothes laying around the house, I just looked at my husband and told him "Jamie was home!" Amazing how they can slip right back into their old habits when they're on their home turf.
Pam, I stocked my shelves and Fridge with Tristan's favorite, pretty much the same foods Jamie likes the oak BBQ steak, my homemade lasagna & enchiladas and believe it or not skillet and evvo chicken and steamed white rice. All 6"4" of him can eat like 2 men. lol He will come in to San Diego tomorrow but can't find him a cheap flight home(5 hour drive) so a friend has a son a navy seal on deployment and wanted to get his truck back home...so hubby will take the train for $50 bucks, pick up the truck then off to pick T up at the airport. Thank goodness for the Columbus Day holiday cause it gives us a long weekend with him. He has to be back to CP on Tuesday.
LOL T's Mom!! Jamie is only 5'11", but my younger son is 6'4", so yes, we pay more for groceries than we pay for our house! Ha, ha.. It sounds like you've had to do some leg work to get him home, but it looks like everything is working out! How exciting for you and glad you have an extra day to enjoy.
I haven't asked Jamie yet, but when he arrives in San Diego, will transportation be provided for him to get up to the base? Or will he have to take a Taxi/shuttle?
