Good morning everyone, I am back home now, left VA Beach early yesterday. My computer is still not fixed. My IT son-in-law thought he fixed it but no :( I guess I will have to download all my pics and important documents and then take it somewhere and leave it to be fixed. Dreading that, I know I will have Navy for Moms and facebook withdrawals lol. There is something to smile about though.... My Sailor/daughter is a member of a facebook group called Gorgeous Active Duty Females. They had a contest and the top 9 winners will go to a photo shoot and be in a 2015 Calendar. All the proceeds from the calendar will go to make care packages for our troops and my Sailor will be featured in the calendar. She came in 3rd place with 511 votes :) Thanks so much if you voted for her. We really appreciate it :) Here is my Sailor and grand baby :)

  • CatMom509

    Lala,

Quite the accomplishment for your Sailor daughter!!  Congrats!!  Whoa  Another adorable pic of Eastyn~~

    Hi Friends,

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord,

and He delights in his way.  Though he fall,

he shall not be utterly cast down,

for the Lord upholds him with His hand."

                                               Psalm 37:23-24

  • Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons

thanks so much CatMom, I went to VA this past week and babysat for Eastyn. It was awesome, she is such a sweet sweet baby <3

  • Tashenae

Has anyone received a call from their sailor (div 945)?
  • RetiredChiefJeff

    Congrats to 357 :-)

  • diannep

Sigh, Tashenae:  I'm afraid many on this group are hanging out on the FB groups and forgetting about this site!  I know that 945 was scheduled to go through last night but haven't heard if they did.  Hopefully, someone will post soon!

    Congrats to 357/358!

  • diannep

Ladies:  Just wanted to pass on some info.  There was a sailor in last week's group who didn't fly out of OHare until 6 pm, so that sailor/family spent 15 hrs visiting in the airport.  YIKES!  There is a Hilton within the OHare airport....a man on a previous PIR group told me that they charge a $55 "day rate" for those who have a long wait at the airport and just need to relax.  They did it with their sailor and said it was wonderful.

So...if you find your sailor will be waiting most of the day in the airport, you may want to check into a hotel room where all can relax, nap, shower, watch tv, etc....

  • TX Trina

diannep - there were a few posts from 945.  One Sailor did say that everyone that went through BS21 passed but there were some that were ASMOED right before BS21.  No names were given as to who they were or how many.  But there didn't seem to be as many calls as with the other divisions.  I wonder if Division 945 has their own page or a 900 page on FB where they post stuff?  Anywho... just wanted ya'll to know what I saw posted.

  • ktremom

Does anyone know what the waiting is like at Midway?  Do you get to sit with your sailor? Do you need to get a special gate pass?

  • diannep

    Thanks so much, TX Trina!

    So....congrats to 945 too!

ktremom:  Yes, you will be able to wait with your sailor at the airports.  Be sure to bring ID with you to the airport...for each family member.  You will get the gate pass from the airlines counter which will allow you to wait at the gate until your sailor's plane departs.  I have been told that the airlines counters don't open until 4 a.m. so the sailors are out there waiting to check all of their luggage until then.  One lady told me that they keep the sailors separated from family members until they have all gotten through the check-in process, but then you will be able to spend time with your sailor.

  • CatMom509

    ktremom,

I met my Sailor daughter at Midway in March.  The Sailors were grouped together with all their stuff, but were able to wander over to us families to chat a bit and with each other.  Wear comfortable jeans or pants you won't mind sitting on the floor in as there's not alot of seating on that level. Some of us were able to go downstairs with our Sailor where there is seating and wait down there a little bit.  The USO attendant lets you know how long until you have to be back at the holding area to get processed to get their boarding passes and the gate passes for the families.  After you get through the security checkpoint and your Sailor drops off their backpack at the USO for safekeeping, you are free to wander the airport eateries, giftshops, and relax in seating areas until your Sailor has to be at their departture gate about 1 - 1 1/2 hours prior to the departure time.  You can wait there all the way until your Sailor boards their plane!!

  • Tashenae

Hopefully I get a call tomorrow! Or I would be so worried :( I seen every div except 945.
  • ktremom

    Thank you, CatMom509

  • diannep

Good to know, CatMom.  One mom messaged me after PIR to tell me that the families she was with were kept from the sailors until they checked in.  But that was at OHare.  I know they have "people in charge", she said, that were managing the sailors.  Of course, I'm sure most will want to head to the airports early anyway just in case they can spend any earlier time with their sailors...whether just watching them "from afar" for a while!  :-)

    Good Morning, All !

  • CatMom509

    Good Morning!

"Let the beauty of the Lord

           Our God be upon us."

                               Psalm 90:17

  • CatMom509

    diannep,

I would be fine with just being able to see and be there for my Sailor daughter and her knowing we were there with her!  I was able to go around and take pics of my daughter waiting~~  Isn't she sweet??

  • diannep

    Very!  So cute!

  • diannep

    Any calls frm 359/360 yet????

  • Tashenae

Help! At the Meet & Greet last night Sarge told us a specific gate to bring them back to after Liberty but I didn't have a pen with me. He wants to be at the gate by 7:00 and I can't find the info anywhere

  • diannep

Kedj:  I hope all went well and you found the proper gate!  :-)

  • ellen0502

Congratulations you all have now graduated from BC for loved ones!!

    Happy Feet Penguin

There are lots of groups on this website for A Schools, C Schools, Ships etc. Remember to keep in touch here too. Some of your SAILORS will be in school together, and even if they aren't in school together they may end up in the fleet together.

  • jkaia'smom

My son has made it to San Antonio on Saturday for A School!!

  • CQEOC

Thank you to everyone who helped provide the most valuable information as we prepared for PIR.

I felt completely prepared for what to expect and went into the day ready to focus on my son.

Whoever told us to stay on base for sailors staying in Great lakes was a lifesaver! We had complete access to my son from morning to night and got to meet so many of his friends and shipmates.

    Thank you Navy for Moms!

  • kaymarie

All the info on this page was incredible!!! Thanks for making PIR an amazing experience!!!

  • CatMom509

    Ladies,

You're welcome~~ Keep plugged in to Navy for Moms!!  Movin' on now~~

  • diannep

Ladies:  Please post on here if you found that any info we N4Moms gave you was changed or incorrect.  We get any updated info from you all!  We want to get it correct for the next groups!  Thanks !

  • Tracy_Jacob'sMom

This site is what got me through my son's time at BC. It wasn't necessarily the info I got (which was very helpful) it was knowing that other Navy mom's felt like me and that I wasn't crazy or being overly dramatic. Graduation was amazing, it was so cool. I thought it would be a tad boring but it wasn't. Sooo happy to see my Airman. And now he's in Pensacola and loving it. So I'll end by saying that you mom's will get through it and it'll all be worth it. I'm so proud but even more, he's proud of himself.
