Hey that is fun Mary we can to anywhere, you just keep thowing it out there, you go girl.LOL Sorry Diane I put a, a at the end of your name. LOL I better get that right.
LOL you are so funny Mary, I think it is all about you. LOL
Lewismom, welcome! I know how you feel we are here for you. My son has been in since Novemeber 18, 2009, so it has just been a year. He is an ITSA and it in Naples, Italy. Paula is right it does get better, just write letters and wait for his phone calls he will love it, really. Where will he go after bc, stay in Great Lakes or go to P-Cola?
I don't mind the weekends, maybe that is better for everyone!
Thank you all for the welcomes. This is the first Valentines Day I can't pick up the phone and call my son...so I am adjusting. As of right now he is headed to SC after bootcamp. I look forward to meeting you all at your next get together. BTW my photo is of the Chicago Bulls game where his platoon was being officially sworn in and became the officially sponsored 2010 Chicago Bulls platoon. Supposedly they will even have Bulls players show up to cheer them on during boot camp.
Lewismom, we know it is hard, those were the worse days for me. But you will be just fine. Oh he is going to SC cool! Cannot wait to meet you and hear all about your sailor.
Mary have you been taste testing the green beer without us?? I am sorry I missed the fall get together too. I'm looking forward to this one thou. Jason is doing well in Lemoore. He's getting bored a little bit not much to do there. He is leaving in 10 days to go t El Centro air base for 2 weeks looking forward to seeing something different for a change. Even if it is only for 2 weeks! Glad to see that Dan is doing good.
Paula, he has been told it isn't much better. At this point he doesn't care he just wants to see something different. I told him when he gets back he will have a new found love for Lemoore. LOL I have been there this past summer and I can see why he needs the change of senery. If I remember right you have been there and know what I'm talking about. :)
Mary I thought jopur was French for your....LOL I have a weird question. What happens if your sailor turns 21 and isn't home for awhile before they can switch their license over to the over 21 license? He probably won't be home before it expires too.
Thanks for the help on my question, thats why I LOVE N4M's someone always has the right answer.Do you need power of attorney for that at the DMV? I'm surprised that its not a big deal in Ill everything ususally is!! :)
Diane did someone mention Gaelic Park already, it is a really nice place. Cork and Kerry on western is a nice place also parking is not so good. I will have to look a ballydoylepub thanks.
I am sooo excited to meet all of YOU! Going into my fourth week of boot camp. No calls but one letter to me and 8 to his beautiful girlfriend. Its hard but I am adjusting. His PIR is 3/26. I am for wherever you all want to meet...just suggest wherever we go we be able to make reservations given that its the Saturday before St. Patricks Day and people will be out.
Lewismom, no calls? Don't worry he will call, just keep sending him letter, everyone in the family should write to him. Forget the girlfriend, mom comes first.LOL Can't wait to meet you too. March 26, well that is not too far away you are going to love it, PIR is beautiful, it was the most amazing event I have every seen.
Aye! Please pray for a sailor and his family as he was killed on the Reagan on Friday. Lewismom I only received one call from BC . Hang tough no news is good news!!! I cried alot when mine was in BC. I cried at PIR from the time it started till it ended. Debbie is right it amazing and the pride you will feel is also amazing. Make sure your son orders the DVD of PIR. Sometimes when I miss mine I pull it out and watch it. Get this I went out the other nite and the was an older gentleman there with a Navy coat on> I went up to him and asked if he was in the Navy. He said yes. I said my son is in the Navy. He replied I don't want to talk about the Navy, to which I replied... I glad my son is serving in the Navy and I'm a proud Navy Mom. I walked away and left him dumbfounded!!
LOL good for you Becky! I will keep that family in my prays and thoughts, I hate to hear that. Do you know what happen on the Reagan? I have the yearbook also Lewismom, I was looking at it today. They also design t-shirts, which my son ordered one for each of us, I was so surprise he did that, I wear it all the time.
Collette...LOL...I guess I need my own identity don't I...I am more than Lewis's mom :). I still get teary eyed every day. Today I had a really cool out of the blue conversation with a total stranger about my Navy son...it was pretty darn cool...first conversation like that. I will keep the family in my prayers and I will say a prayer for the man who didn't want to talk about the Navy. Maybe he was having a bad day or maybe...he was wearing someone else's navy jacket.
Thank you everyone for your advice and suggestions! It is keeping me going! And its very nice to hear words of wisdom because sometimes Boot Camp Moms gets a little depressing. We are on week 4 at bootcamp (or 3 depending if you count processing). We (his girlfriend) got the first letter Monday that he had started receiving all our letters. Hopefully I will get a similar letter today. So that is a huge relief since we were about week behind everyone else in mailing letters thanks to his dad and stepmom not giving us the address. The last few letters before he got our letters were kinda sad - he kept asking why haven't you written and sounded down and confused because everyone else was getting letters. I know mom's first - but I my son and I had a long talk before he left because he was worried people would be mad at him if he didn't write all the time. So I told him if he only had limited time or energy to write then write his girlfriend first, she agreed to keep me in the loop and then I update the family from there. Which I am very okay with!
Paula your were right El Centro is not what my son expected HA got a text today that said El Centro is the pearl of the desert... ha he can't wait to get back to Lemoore already. :)
I think that is a good place and time for me, my daughter will be home for spring break so I will let you know if anything changes, I am glad our sailors are safe.
Mine is a soph. at Illinois state. Small world I work with someone whos daughter also is a junior at Carthage. Its kinda nice that our girls aren't too far from us< I couldn't handle if both my kids were fra away from me !!! :)
Becky, you are so right, I could not handle it if both my kids were far away. It is a small world. My niece goes to Illinois state, this is her first year.
Michelle mine said the same thing to me " its not that big of a deal mom" He graduated from A school and 2 hours later was on a plane home for his 2 week leave. That was exactly a yaer ago this week. He hasn't been back home since. :( hopefull coming home in May thou. Don't get real excited if he gets verbal orders first, sometimes written orders and verbals orders change. I was excited at first when he got his written orders. He was close to home, then got crushed when he got his written orders.
I did not got Stephen PIR was a walk across a stage, a handshake and receiving a piece of paper a told of 20 minutes and then he got the rest of the day off.
Stephen was very lucky nothing every changed for him, everything for him was smooth sailing, bc was good, he stated class right away when he got to P-Cola and he got where he wanted to go after A school to Italy. He was very lucky!!!
Michelle I am so happy for him he sure waited for a long time to start class, but it will go fast. We are leaving the the 25th of May!!!!! I am going to try to use Stephen's computer to leave comments and maybe some pictures so make sure you check in from time to time.
for 2011 budget someone at work told me about it so I looked it up tonite. She has a son serving in the army going to the sandbox. I found it on the Washington post site.
