I wish I could come, but I'm still in Texas, which is a good thing. I've avoided all the snow and cold this winter though south Texas hasn't been exactly warm and sunny either. Still, I'm not complaining! I'll be home by Easter, so maybe you'll plan another event later.
And two other comments--1.4% raise is absolutely nothing. We ask so much of our military. If they make $20,000, they'll get a $23 a month raise. I don't know what salaries are these days; haven't looked in awhile.
Regarding Irish events, I miss all the Irish dancing--my daughter grew up as a step dancer!
I am excited. Debbie your right with the or else part watch out for the rath of us Navy Moms LOL. What did the moms of old do before Skype? Thank God we have come so far with technology!!
Thanks for all the wishes for Stephen it makes the day a little better. Michelle that would be so great if you could go see him, I plan on flying down to see my son too. LOL See you all soon!!!
Diane, yes she is very cute and your son is very handsome! Too bad she cannot come, would love to have her. Stephen is in Naples, but has been to Sicily, he has a friend there he went to A school with, I will have to tell you his last name when we are together and the boys will have to see if they know each other. How long has her fiance been there?
Yes Diane I see them! I bet that is hard for her, I think we talked about her last time we were together. What does he do? I know there is a sub base on Sicily.
Yes Mary bring index cards with your name and address and phone #. Your sailors name and what he does, some put a whole history on their cards. LOL I will have to do somemore to pass out. Can't wait to meet up. So it is this Sat., at 4:00? Mary bring lots of pictures would love to see them, when I come back from Italy you will have a lot of pictures to look at.
Ok so what does everyone think if I shave my head tomorrow for St Baldricks day ? Will my husband let me back in the house tomorrow? I can't wait to have a green beer!
Annie, you were missed, was looking forward to meeting your son, mayb next ime. Becky it was fun, wasn't it. Seabee, I will be happy to see any pictures you can take. LOL I love to see pictures.
Seabee, the last few times it was just use moms, but we could always have a family event, everyone could bring something and we could eat until we drop. LOL Pretty soon Paula will be able to bring her daughter, how great that will be.
I was just thinking we talk so much about our sailors, I feel like I know every single one of them, the best would be if we could one day get together with our sailors, that would be the best, I would love to give each and everyone a hug!!!
Seabee my husband is just like yours shy and quiet. My son is kinda like thatt too!
I think the Navy has kins of got him out of that just a little bit. We can stick our husbands together, maybe they will talk to each other. :) Debbie there is nothing wrong in dreaming it costs nothing to do that.
Hey all...it was so great to meet most of you! I can't think of better group of women to spend the next 4 to 6 years sharing stories with!!!!!!
BTW - I agree the food stunk but who can really say a word when the drinks were soooooo CHEAP!
Sounds like according to N4M chatter that battlestations are either tomorrow or the 24th...which would be two days before graduation. No one in his division has gotten a letter confirming one way or another yet.
The potluck sounds like fun! Maybe we do that first and then try the barbecue when it gets warmer. If the men come to the barbecue maybe they can get a game or something going...cards...sports, etc.
I was confused I thought PIR was this Fri....I asked cuz Battlestations are usually two days before. I got it now its next Fri. I left before so how cheap were the drings I would have drank more had I known LOL
Becky, you are kidding, WOW! I think I would of died, yes Stephen called after battlestation, he loved it and they did great. He was very tired, I was also waiting right next to the phone. It is funny how we all have sailors in the Navy and it really is different for all of them.
No one in his div got to call. I kept telling my husband and my daughter there is something wrong with my cell. They were like stop worrying if he didn't make it he would have called by now.
I love that all that difference cause its helping me make it through right now! So I now know that worst case scenario we hold our breath and just go...and know that in the past it worked. So it will work again! Can you imagine being out of town and facing the same scenario!
I think many people out of town face the same thing... parents in my son's div were already on the way and didn't get a call. I talked to a few parents from other divisons who came from out of town, they just came without a call. I didn't sleep all night was on the N4M's site waiting for someone anyone to say they got a call.. Collette your right it all worked out.
Paula,
That may be my reality with my other son when we go to his marine PIR in San Diego. And my other son has a habit of making us wait & wonder...we did not know if he would graduate from high school till the his last day of school so I just have a feeling....so far the first DIV in Lewi's group has made it through battlestations and all passed. It's pretty cool to watch the families post...I can't wait for a call or next Friday!
Collette that is so much fun isn't it. I do remember getting the information about PIR and it did say if you have to fly or book a room make sure you can get your money back. Stephen told me he passed even before battlestation, and he did and now look where he is, keep up updated.
Collette I have a friend whos son is graduating in SD from Marine BC in a week and a half. I thingkthere is a Marine group too if you want I can get the info from her. They post a video on line of the kids. I think thta is so nice for the parentas that can't be there. Navy should do that too!
Thanks everyone...5 days to go! I am going to hold off on jumping into the Marine stuff until July or so since he leaves August 2. I can only handle one service at time. :) I will keep you all posted and take lots of pictures at PIR.
LOL Michelle, your son is coming home, how great is that, I am very happy for you. Well it will be 2 months on the 25th, I cannot believe how fast it is coming.
Lewismom, OMG it will be here before you know it and yes you better take lots of pictures. I will keep him in my prays and thoughts.
