Annie, Also have had kidney stones. It depends on what kind of stone it is. Sometimes changes in diet and increasing water intake can prevent formation. Or it may take medication. Or if you are like me, no matter what the heck I do, they still come back!!!
Julie - not deployed yet but I know its coming - he is training to be corpseman. Mary is right we will hang in there with you and some of the other moms have had experience. Is she ship or land?
Debbie...yuck! I don't know how I would feel to have a kid sick and not near by.
Mary - sigh. :(
Crazy past week ladies. My highlight was the USO on Sunday. I just love meeting our military. There were even some guys who flew and had just run the triatholon on Sunday and an international soldier from Pakistan who is training with the army.
I am very seriously thinking about San Diego the first weekend in October so if anyone is interested send me an email.
Hi JulieR, welcome to our group, you will love it here. My son is in Italy so if you have any question I will be glad to help but he is on base not sea so I might not know everything.
Well Stephen has not passed his stone yet, still in pain but they told him he has to go back to work tomorrow. They gave him medicine to help dissolve it and lots of pain medicine. I told him to throw up on someone they would send him back to the doctors. LOL
Hi all, Kidney stones WOW how painful! My husband went through that 2 yrs ago they tried to blast them because they were so big then he ended up in the hospital out cold for a few days because the pain was so bad. It was kind of funny it was around Holloween and when he passed them and they eased up on the Dilodid (sp) he did not beleive us that Holloween came and went until he got home, he had no remembrance of the painful 3 days. I hope it goes well for your men out there and that they are small!
My son has a beautiful girlfriend who is adjusting to long distance Navy life, too but she is still in the traveling back forth stage. This weekend will be her first trip to visit him in San Diego. She arrives here later tonight so I can get her to the airport in the am for SD. I will share your post with her as I am not sure if she is part of this group. I know she is looking for connections with women who are in love but waiting the marriage part. She tends to only meet the married or the starry eyed about to get married ones online. lol. She did find one girl at college whose boyfriend was in the army and that helped her greatly earlier this year as she adjusted to bootcamp and then Navy life. I know she says its hard to find people who understand or can relate to the complexities of military life and long distance relationships. Glad you connected with us.
Hi Jenn, welcome to our group, you will love it here. That is so hard to be so far away from the one you love. Ask anything you want and we will do the best to answer them. Well my son is in Italy and he is an IT, he works with computers. He loves it, he is now looking for his next base so we will see where he ends up.
Ladies Stephen is still in pain and has not passed his stones yet. Also he was turned down for every base he picked. He was told he cannot go East or West, so that took out HA, CA and WA. So a new list comes out tomorrow so he will see what is on there. He was not too happy. But yesterday he did get a Bravo Zulu from a Captain of a ship, this is his 3rd one. It goes into his jacket and to his boss and highter up, I am very proud of him. They are very busy with all the bad weather they are having so he has been really busy. I am surprise he is at work but they told him he has to work and he is on a lot of pain medicine good thing he can walk to work.
Hi family, I have to say I was shocked and excited to tell you all that I got a little gift from my husband this week. He said it was you've had a tough 3 yrs and made it babe! kind of gift!!! Well I will try and attach a pic it is a BMW Z4 convertable!!! I am having so much fun, I drove the car so much the first day I got a tan!!! I am so excited!!!
Nice ride-My husband got me an Eclipse Spyder for our 25th Anniversary-then we traded it in for a Hybrid when the economy hit the skids...easy come, easy go!! Have fun!!!
What a great b-day present. Where have you taken it this weekend? Your husband right - you have faced alot and deserve a treat!
Any word on the kidney stone?
Hi Everyone! Sally and I are planning a packing party for Molly's Adopt A Sailor on October 23. Please go to "Events" to see the details. We hope a lot of you will join us!!
Jan&Mik, hope Mik is feeling ok, getting wisdom teeth out are no fun at all. So far he has not passed his kidney stone, but he did have a few days off so maybe that will help him. You think when they pick there orders they would tell them you cannot go here or there. I think us moms should run this Navy, it would run so smoothly. LOL Oh, I know he does not want the Navy to pick for him so lets hope the next picks are approved.
Paula I just love that picture. I always hope that if Stephen gets on a ship I would be able to meet that ship when it comes into port.
We left for MI Thursday night so I am trying to catch up, why do you ladies talk so much. LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Coco, thanks for asking about those darn kidney stones so far he still has them. They will not go in and take them until around 6 or 7 weeks, that is a long time to be in pain, well I think so.
Hi girls, I got this in a monthly news letter from my Ombudsman and wanted to share as it is very informative. Look at Fleet and Family Support Program on Facebook if you have not already.
So Pat has a packing party on 10/23 and Barb is hosting a pizza party. When I went back and checked posts it looked like she put out there 10/30 or the first two weekends in November. I am good with any of those of weekends for the pizza party.
Ok here is a question for the packing party or anyone jump in. At school the whole school helped me with a project for the Nimitz and me and trish took care of the whole IT group with goodie bags and the art teacher had all the kids make Christmas cards so everyone got a card also. Now the school wants to do something for Veterans Day. They are looking for a list of items that they need so the kids can bring them in. If I can I like to find someone who can help with shipping or pay for shipping. I want to do something different then toothpaste, etc. but it cannot cost a lot either. Any suggustions? I know they are doing another ship but I really did not want to do that but I will if that is all I can do but then we have to pay for shipping and that cuts down on what we can spend for the sailors, I will take any help I can get. Ok ladies put your thinking hats on!!!!
Michelle, he has not gotten his new list yet for the new openings. Still dealing with the kidney stones. That poor boy (your sailor) is always waiting for something, now he is waiting for school to start. LOL Look how far he has come Michelle, you must be so proud of him.
Debbie, Here is an idea for a group to help. This is not a Molly's group of the month but there was a request to help wounded warriors. They need things like socks, towels, and sheets. Go to "MAS We Ship Love" (if you do not already belong, send a request) Then click on "Kandahar & Wounded Warriors"
Thanks Pat, I just did go there and I had to send a friend request, so I am waiting for someone to answer me. I will go look at your suggestion now, thanks!
Boy Molly must be one tough cookies. You have to ask to be invited in so I did. I would love to help the sailors that are hurt, I just need to know what to collect and where to send the item.
Debbie, The reason for the request for that group is for security for our contacts. That is where all the addresses are available and by having to request to join, the names and addresses are protected. You will be approved pretty quickly.
Thanks Pat, so far nothing, hopefully today! I need a list and an address, we have to get a note out to the kids to bring items in. I will let you know what I hear.
Ok, I have not heard from Molly yet. JulieR do you have an address if my school wants to send goodies to that ship? Can you talk to someone on the ship so we could figure out what they need? I am not sure if this is the way we are going to go but if I don't hear from Molly then I am just not sure. this should not be so hard.
Barbara and ladies I will be at Drew's ship comissioining the 13th I hate to miss you all I can do the 20th. I just want to be there cause you all are just too much fun!!!!!
Thanks JulieR, I hope you hear soon. I have to come up with something and soon.
Paula I know the Nimitz had over 6,000 and we also did the strick ships, but there were lots of us. Trish and myself did the IT group there were around 80 of them. And I had the school help and I still spent a large amount of money but it was worth it.
Depending where we are going remember I am very bad with directions, so far I have done ok, but Carol Streams, not going to happen. LOL Barb, where are you? Your index card is upstairs I will have to look and see where you live.
