LOL Michelle, I understand really it does not seem like Christmas at my house either, not just because Stephen is not coming (tho that would of been wonderful) but we don't really have little ones anymore and they make Chrstmas. When is our next get together? I miss you ladies!!!
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to everyone! I hope everyone with kids home enjoy them! And everyone without kids home - find a way to enjoy or at least make it through!
I feel very blessed to have met all of you this past year - you (each and every one of you) really have been a huge support to me this past year and I truly appreciate all of you!
To all our military sons and daughters and their families-A blessed Christmas and a New Year filled with peace and joy. Here's praying that everyone gets home to family and friends soon!
Annie--My husband and I have been going to Bucks almost every week for like 6 months, but the service the past month has really sucked, slow as hell and forgetting things. I love the food but I don't know what changed. I am going through withdrawl though so maybe I will see you the 29th.
My son is funny swears like a sailor though...LOL
Merry Christmas and I too am glad I have you all as friends!!!
I am off to my parents with my other son shortly for dinner and gifts...we are starting early this year cause my 2 year old nephew won't make it up very late - no nap today. Then my sisters for xmas dinner tomorrow. I live right near the only catholic church in the area that does only Latin mass. I may try that tomorrow to have something different to do. My Navy son is getting picked up by cousin and her family today and he is spending the holiday with them and their kids in Seattly. I am so relieved he has place to be this holiday especially after just finishing his FMTB training. Still hard though...first xmas without my baby - lol.
Christmas blessings to all. I ditto what Annie said wouldn't be able to do this Navy thing without all of you!!! ♥ I have had my candle lite since this morning, prayers for everyone who is missing their sailor today.
Hi, hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I am hoping that everyone has a great New Year. Talk to Stephen for two hours on Christmas that was really nice, on skype so I got to see him. He had to work Christmas Eve and day but he is off of New Year's eve and day. I hope if you sailor came home you had a wonderful time and even if you got to talk to them, that is just as nice. Michelle you should be off on your trip hope it is wonderful and you have time to relax and drink and tan, hope you got my phone call the other day.
Sally I am glad you are not alone, that is very important during the holidays. Let us know how the doctors go ok!
Mary I am glad you got to hear from your son that is the best way to start your day.
Sally - you may not be on for a while but we are thinking of you too!
Debbie - what's your secret - how do you get your son to stay on skype for 2 hours????
Mary - that was a beautiful poem you posted
I made it through my first xmas as a Navy mom. Had my moments but overall I found a way to have fun and not be too sad. It really helped seeing my son and WA family posting pictures of their xmas with my son on Facebook.
And now for the amazing news...drum roll...My sister and I just booked a flight for my son to come home on Jan 2!!!!!!! He just got his leave approved until the 14th!!!!! And God bless my sister she has decided the best way to use her extra miles for the next couple of years is to bring my son home! So we used her miles to book a ticket. Huge $$$ relief. I am very excited!
Just sent my sailor off to the airport to go back to Bremerton...sad, but so blessed to have had him home for Christmas. Great news Coco-enjoy your New Year's visit with your son! To everyone on N4M have a wonderful 2011-wishing you peace and joy in the coming year.
Hi friends, My holiday was soooo much better than I thought it would!!! Yes I had that frickin pain but having my son here just made it all better. His flight back to Norfolk was cancelled due to weather on the 26th so he is still here and leaves tonight!!! He was freaked out but his chief understood so all is ok. I was crying so hard the day he had to leave but we have talked so much and bonnded so much I think I am ok we shall see when I have to drop him off later...LOL I love him and I am so proud when I hear him talk about the Navy. He really likes it and that is all that counts. Take care, Paula2
I tell you when the kids are home it makes all the different, they are just amazing.
Coco, how wonderful have a wonderful time and enjoy!
Julie, that is wonderful you heard from your daughter, do you know if they got the Christmas cards that I sent? I am hoping to hear from some of them, the kids would love that.
Hi Barb, how are you doing, I heard you sent me some cookies from the last party thank you. Sorry I missed the party, but hopefully we will get together soon and catch up. Paul bought me a TomTom, I wonder is I will still get lost. LOL
LOL Coco, he never stops talking, sometimes I have to tell him I have to go. It was good to talk to him and catch up, I think he was missing home a little bit also. I have a box to send him with his Christmas items inside, did not mail them before he was suppose to come home but I have put tons of cookies inside, hope they mail ok, but he will be surprise.
I have been off all week and go back to work on the 5th. My daughter is home so we have been running a lot, going to Sams today to get her somethings to take back to school.
I am glad they got them, I did put my name and address of the school inside plus my e-mail. I am in Chicago. I think it is important that they kids do for the military but I also think it is important that they get a response. The kids have so many questions, what do they eat on the ship, what do they do for fun, is their jobs hard, it is good the kids are interested. I did get responses from the ship I did last year and the kids just loved it when brought them in. I am just glad they got them and I hope the cards put a smile on their faces. Julie how are you doing?
Keep me posted what you decide to do. I am in the city so I doubt on New Year's Eve I want to drive out to the burbs but you never know I may wake up in the morning and change my mind.
Welcome Mary K! We are a great group to be part of and there is always room for another mom join in! I think what makes us seem closer than other groups is that we are actually able to get together on a somewhat consistent basis. Two sailors - do you have any other kids? My cousin has four kids and somehow (she swears she has no idea how) two of them are priests in the Catholic Church.
Annie & Debbie and everyone else with kids in still enjoy! I am getting my house ready for my son. I talked to him last night and he is so grown up...he explained to me how he was planning his time between his dad and family and me and family and then girlfriend. He had really thought it out and I was so proud of him. I(and my family) get Monday through Wednesday with the exception of one evening that will be date night. LOL. Luckily our schedules are all flexible enough that weekdays will actually work well.
Enjoy the lunch today. St Charles is such a beautiful town...just a little to far for me to drive today. Happy New Year Everyone! It's been great year getting to know all of you and I know 2011 will be even better!
Happy New Year to everyone! Yes that is the best way to start the new year.
Annie, I am so glad you son is home also, have a great visit with him.
Stephen is home until the 11th. My birthday is the 7th so how great is that, hopefully my daughter can come home and we can all so to dinner, we have not done that in a long time.
Ladies enjoy the movie, what are you going to see?
I agree Annie - I see a big change in my sailor too! Very proud of him...lol he is in the labor and delivery and learning all about female stuff...lol...had to help a new mom and baby start to breast feed...lol. Yep I am proud of him. He says he is learning lots and having fun.
So we have the packing party on the Jan 22. And Saturday 1/29 or Saturday 2/5 are the dates I put out to host an evening at (yes don't laugh) my parents condo downtown while they are out of town...they have a great view of the skyline so it should be lots of fun. Let's take a vote on which date and make it official. I am game for either but the 5th might be better just because of the packing party on the 22nd then its not back to back.
glad you guys had fun on the New Years Eve - what a great way to start the year!
Yes Stephen just walked in on Thursday, Paul knew about it but no one else. I was laying on the couch and Paul just went out with the dog so I heard him come in (well I thought it was Paul) and I knew someone was standing there, I was watching tv and then Stephen said "what do I have to do to get a hug around here" I sat up and I just left my mouth open, I could not even get off of the couch I thought I was looking at a picture. LOL He go me good! Then my daughter was upstairs and was wondering who voice that was and came down and she started to cry, it was GREAT!
LOL Mary it was just like that. It is so great having both kids home and sleeping in their own beds. I am back at work today and looked in at him sleeping before I left. LOL It is so great having him home.
We need to go out for a birthday drink for my birthday. I am going to need one after Stephen leave. So lets try and pick a date. THen we can catch up and no cliff notes.
Stephen leaving the 11th and that weekend Paul and I will go to MI so after that. So if we need a weekend how about the 21st that is a Friday, lets see how many can go, we could always change. I knew I could count on you Michelle!!!! How was your vacation?
Hi all lots going....beautiful necklaces. Debbie hope your enjoying your visit. Michelle where have you been I haven't bumped into you anywhere lately!! LOL Barb was that robbery in your neighborhood?? It looked like it was close to your house hope your ok! I am having salior withdrawls and its only been a few days. Paula did I miss when you posted your receipe for the rib roast? I never have made that curious how hard it is to do.
You ladies are the best, Annie I will give him a hug for you, I have been doing that a lot lately hugging!!! WOW what a cake, I wish I had a cup of coffee. Michelle thank you, I just love you ladies, you made my day!!!
Packing party Jan. 22 at 10:00AM at the Villa Park VFW, 39 E. St. Charles Rd, Villa Park. (next door to Jewel store). You can go to Molly's Adopt A Sailor for the list of what the "SaberHawks" are requesting or send me a message!
Debbie, Packing party=fun and laughter. This month the boxes are going to the "SaberHawks". Vast majority is on the USS Abraham Lincoln, but also about 25 sailors on USS Halsey, USS Shoup, USS Sterret, and USS Momsen each. Trying to have a Mardi Gras theme.....Dollar Stores, here I come!!!!
I agree with Becky about sailor withdrawals...my house felt very empty without him last night. We had such a great 4 days - we (he and his beautiful girlfriend) visited with family and just hung out at the house. Now he is off to dads for the night and then to his girlfriends in Ottawa on Saturday and then EIU cause her classes start on Monday and then back to Chicago to leave on the 13th. I am so proud of how he divided up his time...especially since I got 4 days!!!!!
Mary K, The packing party is on Jan. 22 at 10:00AM at the Villa Park VFW. Go to "events" for more information. (or you can always send me a message too)
HEY EVERYONE, Go to Molly's page or Christmas 2010 group. The first 100 boxes arrived in time for Christmas but we knew that there were a bunch that hadn't been delivered. TODAY 200 boxes arrived and there is a picture!!! OMG!
Need advice. When you send a package to you sailor's FPO address and the ship is underway are they pretty good with getting packages to them? I know I hear allot about sending care packeges when they are on deplyment and have not heard much negative. I need to send my son a new DVD player and some other things. I wanted him to get a PO Box but I don't think he wants to do that in case it does not get there before he leaves.
