Cathy sorry to hear about your MIL, I will pray for you and your family.  The vet looked at my dog for a stroke also because she was having a hard time walking but she could not find anyother signs of s stroke.  You pup is just not ready to go, Shawna just looked so tired and did not even fight it.  Good luck!
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Don't know if I posted this or not, my mind is gone. LOL  I am going to MI this weekend so please stop talking and Michelle I will need cliff  notes, ok!  Leaving Friday after work and will be home Turesday afternoon.  I heard more snow on its way just a few inches.  Leavng on the 26th for Florida, yea for me, my Dad is turning 90 on March 1st and I will be flying home on the 2nd and then working Thurs and Friday, boy I am very busy.

Coco how are the kids doing???

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Hi, did you have a good time, I would love to see some pictures???
  • Coco

    Hello all,

Been a few days since I was on...life is busy with kids at home, kids trying to get caught up on college and grad school, kids whose entire life is still in bags at my house.  We are slowly making progress on numerous levels - thank goodness.  Apple ended up sending Jas a brand new computer at no charge to us - they now have a customer for life!

Debbie and Cathy - I am so sad about your pooches.

Julie - congrats on your daughter - that is a very cool pin

Barb - Welcome back we missed you

    Mary - get better quick!

  • Pat L. in IL

Debbie, Thanks for the good wishes. My mom is very nervous about it but seems like a no-brainer to me because she can hardly walk!
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Well my mom was in her 70's when she had her done and she is very happy she did it, but I can see why it would be scarey.  I know she will do fine.
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

I did not hear that thanks for the update, I do like him.

Mary, glad you are feeling better, maybe you can enjoy your weekend.  I cannot wait for you to see your son, he will probably be glad to be off  of the ship.

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Julie how wonderful, I am so happy for her and you.  HOW COOL!!!!  I mend all the time, if it is thick she is going to need a bigger needle.  If it is hard to push thru she will need something she can push it thru with.  Do they have someone on ship to do it?  Stephen has his done, but I do not know what they have on a ship.

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

I just love to see them in their blues!!!!
  • Pat L. in IL

Julie, Way to go, Jess!!!!!!!!!!! See you tomorrow!
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Your welcome Julie, I just think it is easier for the kids.
  • Coco

Do you know what's crazy...I think we were all posting at the same time yesterday cause I didn't see some of the posts yesterday as I posted mine (that or I'm losing my mind)

Tracy - I am glad your daughter is progressing.  My other son was going to enlist in the marines and then some stuff happened and he changed his mind and it has really been for the best for him.  I have a feeling it will all work out the way it is supposed for your daughter, too.

Julie those photos are awesome!  Congrats!

  • Pat L. in IL

Julie, Thanks to you and Susan for going with me. You are one hot mama with the customs envelopes!! Seriously, huge help!! Now remember, your "spy" on the Kearsarge needs to notify us when the boxes start arriving. Have you been seeing the emails from Tobias about arrivals for the Saberhawks? He said their mail was a MOUNTAIN and it is taking more than 1 day to distribute!!!heeheehee!!!! SCORE!!!
  • SusanG in IL

Pat,I also thank you for the ride.I have been talking to my kids and anyone else who will listen to me about the packing party since Sunday.I was so impressed with how well it all went and how wonderful everyone there was.I get tears in my eyes when I talk about it.It made me feel GREAT to be a part of something like that.I would really love to be there when they start receiving the packages so that I could see their faces.(my poor feet have finally recovered,I can walk without pain!)

Good evening ladies,I hope everyone is doing well. (I hope you feel better soon Pat L.)My son and his wife just stopped by.They drove 18 hours straight from MD.Now they're both going to go pass out.I haven't seen them in a year and they both look good!

I knew they were coming but they hadn't given me a date so this was a nice surprise. They called to let me know they were coming about 20 minutes before they showed up.They brought me a framed picture of Jeffrey in his dress blues and his wife Stephanie made me a beautiful blanket.I have the blanket on my sofa, ready for me to use,and I have Jeffrey's picture upstairs on my dresser.

I told Jeffrey about MAS and I'm going to give him info that he can take back to his OIC so that they can request that the Roosevelt be adopted while they're deployed overseas.(they leave 03/28)

So...Saturday March 26 (my sons PIR anniversary) at Quigleys Irish Pub???? Works for me.

Did anyone go see Mary?  I could be in the burbs this weekend if anyone was going.

    Susan - enjoy your son!

My kids have decided to stop looking for somewhere to live for a little while and stay with me...having mixed feelings(I was finally really starting to enjoy the empty nester life)  but glad I am there to help and am going to enjoy my time with them.  Jas has her host sister from Germany coming in on Sunday...guess where she is staying...lol...we have a whole bunch of cleaning and packing up of their stuff at my house and getting it into storage to do...just to have room for this other young lady to stay with us.

Navy son is very very busy and has been given some new stuff/responsibilities to do...lots to share/tell next time I see all of you.

  • becky m

Coco I hear you about the empty nester thing. Its weird when my daughter is home from school I'm glad shes here...for a short time anyway, lol then I'm like ok you can go back now!! :)  I hear good things about Quigleys. If you guys go on the 26 th I won't be able to go. My girlfriend's husband is having a 50th party for her. Everyone has been pretty quiet on here. Michelle and Mary hope you guys are feeling better.
  • MissMySailor

Hi all, I know it has been a long time since I have been here but I do think about you all, just have been in too much pain to stay online too much. I just got a trial spinal cord stimulator and it has decreased my pain so now I see a Neurosurgeon at North Weastern to plan the final implant hopefully within a month cause this temp one comes out wen. I do usually check facebook, I shoud be here to it would get my mind off things.

    What happened to Mary???

Coco life is always fun and ever changing...WOW lots for you but I am sure after what happened to the kids they must feel better staying with you for a while.

My so just hit one yr since PIR 2/5/2011 it was a great day I had this warm feeling of how wonderful his journey has been in the Navy so far. He enjoys it so much he is lucky. He just passed his 2nd swimmer test and passed testing for a rib boat capitan and a deck boat capitan so he was excited. I am so proud of him he is always taking classes and certifications offered he has changed so much.

He just go back from underway was home 3 days and back out unscheduled so he and the other guys on the ship who are on facebook were really yelling...lol Hey it's the Navy guys and Gals it's your job. Well I got this really cool pic I loved and wanted to share it with you all so I will attach it.

Hope to see you all again when I am done with surgery and all healed up!

    Take care Paula2

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Hi Mary, it sounds like you are doing pretty good.  Keep us updated, I think about your everyday.

    Hi everyone!

  • Coco

Oh Paula that sounds really rough.  Hang in there!  I know if you ever want some cheering up we would come and visit!  And Mary - keep going!  Did you ever think you would hear someone say take more pain meds.  lol.  They are right, just be careful.  After my reconstructive knee surgery years ago I started smoking again as I was trying to stop taking pain meds. Not the best way to get off pain meds.

Congrats Paula on the one year anniversary.  Your son sounds like mine.  He keeps being asked to volunteer for new responsibilities and is constantly signing up for additional training.  It is good for them!

Our young lady from Germany arrived on Sunday.  She is very sweet and with us for two weeks.

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Happy Birthday to my son he tuned 24 today, talked to him this morning so that made my day.

    Hope everyone is well!

  • Coco

    What a welcome to Hawaii!

My son and Michelle's son are up at Whidby, Wa.  Their local paper says online that the tsunami is not expected to cause damage just that everyone should stay off the beaches...so fingers crossed.  Michelle talked to her son in the early am today and he and his girlfriend did not know about any of it yet.  My son's girlfriend texted him - but no response yet.  He may be on duty.  Prayers for all affected - especially our military in Japan and their families.

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Pictures are really something from the news.  My prays are with all of those families.  I wonder where the base is in Japen?

    Everyone have a wonderful weekend!

  • Pat L. in IL

I started a new job this week thanks to Michelle.  Lots of stuff to learn but so far so good.  My 18 year-old German left yesterday.  House is as quiet.  Or a quiet as can be with the kiddos here.

    Looking forward to next Saturday!

  • MissMySailor

WOW Paula!!!!! I am so happy for you Grammy!!!!!!!
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Congrats Paula!  That is so wonderful.  When is the baby due?

Julie,  will keep the ship and your daughter in my prays, I hate that our military is out there.

Coco, I am so happy your have a new job, way to go Michelle.  What are your doing?

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Thanks Mary, my son is somewhere for two weeks and I don't know where.  He could not tell me were the Navy was sending him.   So do I worry or not, I have decided to worry, I wonder everyday where is he.  Cannot wait to hear from him, told him to call as soon as he gets back.
  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Mary just take care of yourself.

It is so wonderful to be able to talk and everyone understands each other.

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

I am praying for all of those men and women also, a plane went down and I hear both men are ok, thank God!

Annie, I would like to go.

Michelle, how are you?  How is your son?  I will let you know when he gets back.

Julie you need to give me your new box number, maybe that is why you have not gotten the letter yet, I can always send it again if I have too.

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

Babies popping up everywhere on this site.  I am so happy for all you soon to be grandmothers, how exciting.

Anne, Stephen is still waiting for his orders, the Navy told them they are broke and not sending a lot of them anywhere it is cheaper to keep them where they are.  I want my son to come stateside, they (Navy) told him two years and that is up, so maybe he will find out in April, April 1st is when the budget is figured out.  No money left we are spending it all on wars.  Do you think I am pissed off!!!! LOL

  • Debbie (Stephen's mom)

LOL Paula, Michelle needs the cliff notes.   Baby shower is so much fun, and they will need a lot of things for sure.  I would like to go to Quigley's so far so good.
