This group is for those who have loved ones that graduated from boot camp on April 4. 2014. A place to keep in touch with each other as the sailors continue their Navy journey.
Those who asked for BattleStations dates on here, I sent the info in a friend request. Read without hitting accept since it goes away if you hit accept.
Hi everyone, I am so so sorry I have been MIA. So many things going on. First we have had our Sailors home on leave for 3 weeks before they move to CA. Then we went on vacation and the first day in FL my hubby and I both got really sick so it wasn't much of a vacation at all. We went to the beach once for a couple hours, out to eat twice, and then went in a couple stores at the Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs yesterday before it started raining. Besides all that my computer would not log on to the internet at all the whole time we were in FL. I had the WiFi password but it refused to work. So all I had was my phone and I can't navigate this site with my phone at all. We came back home to NC today and now it is snowing like crazy lol. I think Mother Nature is a wee bit confused and I know my poor flowers are. The good news is I am in the process of ordering a new laptop (trying to decide which one to get, looking at a DELL) and that should mean I will be able to get on this site without my computer locking up and having to be shutdown :) I hope you all are doing well. PIR is getting closer and closer every day and I know that excites you as much if not more than my new computer excites me lol.
For those who believe in the power of prayer could you please keep my Sailor/son-in-law's family in your prayers. His cousin and three of his 4 children are missing in the mudslide in WA. He was with the kids while his wife was at work when the mudslide took away their home. Their 4 year old was rescued and taken to the hospital and reunited with his mom. There are so many people missing and many families waiting for news. I am sure they can use all the prayers they can get. Thanks so much, we appreciate all of you very much <3
Thanks for your update! Missed you!! Will you be able to save the important files you want on your old computer and put them on your new one? Or is there a safe way to do it because you don't know what exactly has been affecting it?
Sighhh, so sorry to hear of your son-in-law's family and praying for the situation for all~~
I will CatMom, I got some CD's and I am saving all my pics and documents. The computer I ordered has "LIFETIME" antivirus whooohooo, not taking any more chances with that. Thanks so much for the prayers.
If your Sailor will fly out to a new base on PIR weekend and you plan to meet them at the airport you should mail this info on an index card to your recruit. Once they get their itinerary they should fill it out and then keep it to give it to you at PIR. They won't have this info in time to mail it back to you. When they go back to their ship and rack to check out remind them to get this. This will keep you from ending up at the wrong airport. :)
Please fill this out when you get your flight itinerary/orders and then give it to us at PIR. Do not mail it.
girl chief: If a family cannot make it to PIR, another family on here could tell their own sailor that they want to adopt that sailor---it is easier to adopt a sailor in your own sailor's division since your sailors should know each other, so post in your division group above as well. You can ask your sailor in a letter (mail it quickly!) about this and maybe during the I'm a Sailor call, your sailor will have a name for you of a shipmate to join you after PIR.
Natalia: Look at your personal page on here, top left...under "friends" (which is under your name). You should see that you have a "request" which I sent a few days ago when you asked for BattleStations info. Click on it and read the info....don't hit accept or the info disappears. Let me know if you need more info after that!
Hoping that I'm a Sailor calls will be received after 2pm Central today from Div 125-128. Keep those phones close!
Please post your division on here when you get the call so others know when to expect their call. If your new sailor has "watch," know that they may not be able to call with their division, but will later. Also, be checking FB accounts since your new sailors may get on that before the phones.
tammy/hoosiermamma: My son went to A School in Meridian also, over 4 yrs ago. He liked it there...of course, they usually really enjoy A School since they have been cooped up so long in Bootcamp. They phase up to more freedoms now and are back in touch with family/friends which is huge!
Does anyone know if other recruits are allowed to come to their friends PIR? My and his best friend were suppose to go through under the buddy system, but ended up not being able to. So my son left 4 weeks prior to his buddy. I got a letter from his best friend yesterday telling me that the only way he would be able to be at PIR is if I would talk to CO. I think he thinks that just because I'm a Major in the Air Force that I can pull those strings. But I also worked my way up the ranks and was a seaman recruit in the Coast Guard many years ago and from what I can remember from then was that my brother who was 2 weeks behind me couldn't even come to graduation. I don't think any of that has changed. Any insight??? His buddy is in that 3rd week, we all know who down our young men and women were during those few weeks. So I really want to be accurate with my info when I write him today. I'm sure he's homesick and lonely and looking for that one face that he's always trusted and relied on and was hoping he would finally get to see him at graduation.
splachte: Very doubtful, if not impossible, for him to attend his friend's PIR. Just isn't allowed. You can try and "pull strings" like he probably wants you to do, but don't think it will work. Remember, a new rule change from about a year ago now makes all active duty and retired military a part of someone's guest list if they want to attend. Prior to that, active duty/retired military were welcome at all PIRs on their own. So....lots of restrictions on how can be at PIR. I have never heard of a SR being allowed at another's PIR....never say never, but just sayin'.....
I'm so sorry that they didn't make it into the same PIR group....I know that must be disappointing....
Received my call at 2:01 Central time. My son is in Div 126. He said tired but fine. All who started made it through but the entire division didn't start the process. Early bed night. One more week!!
My son told me a few kids had problems this past week so they weren't ready to participate. I think you'd know if your son/daughter was one of them. Almost the entire division (126) started Battle stations last night and all of the recruits who started in my son's division were successful.

Did I see a comment earlier about someone "adopting" a extra sailor for Liberty after PIR? Is this possible? If so, what do we need to do to sign up?

Seems that we lost some sailors in the tragic WA state mudslide. Prayers are with their families and also Lala's for her connection to the tragedy:
