Diannep, thanks for the update on the Lodge. I don't think I'll risk it, even though my daughter is headed to P'cola. I'll check into the other places. Angie, I was so excited to hear from her. When my son was in bc i only got a couple phone calls, and none this early. I was so excited all day. Blessings to all.
Vickie, the hubby joined Navydads.com and he did it from there. I haven't seen a link here for the one on the 29th. He says you should join Navydads and go ahead and RSVP from there.
I don't see that Sarge has added his MeetandGreet link for this PIR group yet. Seems he is only up to the 01/23 group, so yours should be next. Be checking the EVENTS section, to the left of this page/bottom, for his future post. You can then just click on that link to RSVP.
Sarge just asks that people RSVP by Monday of PIR week so he can gauge how much food to order. Don't panic about not RSVPing yet. He will get the link up soon!
Just thinking the link for Sarge's Meet & Greet will be here very soon, so no need to be joining that group to only respond to his Meet & Greet. There is plenty of time for Sarge to plan for this one....
N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC apply to the Discussion Forum area as well. The Division Discussions are viewable to all...just like the Main Wall here.
Please do not start new division discussions!!!!
The Discussion Forum area is set to show titles only and is set at ten titles at a time for now. (This can be adjusted by the group creator or an administrator)
It is also set to show the "latest activity" (there are other settings). So whatever has just had a reply added to it will "bump" that Discussion to the top. The discussion will stay up there at the top because it has had "activity"…until the next Discussion has activity. If there are over ten discussions, whatever is at the bottom will disappear from view…but not from the Discussion Forum. So, if you want to see more, click "view all" at the bottom right hand corner of the discussion forum area. It is right up there above the Blue Comment Wall bar.
When you view a discussion forum by clicking on the title, the first post ever made will be the first one on the first page. To get to the most current reply, click “Last Reply” directly underneath that particular Discussion.
~You will also notice that in the top right corner in any post that you do you will see an "x". This is so you may delete your post if you need too. You will also see the “x” on any post you make anywhere else on the site.
Your Division Discussions have been posted up above. Please use them to get to know each other even better on a "Divisional" basis...BUT remember that you all have the same PIR date and many of you will be attending the same Meet and Greets...so please continue to post on the Main Wall here.
Also, please continue to post your questions for us "veteran moms" on the Main Wall here. We can have 7-8 active PIR groups going at one time..that's 70-90 Divisions! We try to get to the Division Discussions but with that many it is difficult! We don't want to miss any questions as ALL are important...no dumb ones...for many of you this is your first servicemember and we want to be there to help and lend support.
I am completely beside myself right now!!! My son just called and sounded GREAT!! He seems to be doing really well. I asked if he has been getting yelled at a lot and he said no but others are! He said that the worst part is the food! Lol! It was so surprising to hear from him this early because he got there Dec 4th but he did say he's in a Push group. Maybe that's why;) I hope others got calls today as well and your SR sounds as happy as mine;)
Me too! Also got his first letter today also. My son said he wish his division would keep quiet too! The push group is making him nervous and he says he is a bit homesick: ( all I could do was keep a happy voice and hope it made him feel better.
We just got our 1st call from our SR!!! He sounded pretty good, has been homesick but hanging in there. I now know why the motivational quotes are so important...I think they need to read them in the letters!!! He called my cell and I was driving home! I could not believe it was him! I made it home in 15 min. and he got to talk to his dad and brothers! Am I glad I didn't go to the mall today like I had thought about! I am one happy momma today! Hope you all get your calls asap!
Although this is my first post, I have been reading them for quite a while. I was so excited to get a call from my son today - Ship 03, Division 84, but I was so nervous he was going to get in trouble for talking too long so we let him go 15 minutes into it. Afterwards, my husband mentioned he didn't think he was trying to wrap us up. Now after reading other comments, I am bummed that we could have talked longer.
My brother is Ship 03 Div 84 too. He called my mom today also but she had a hard time hearing. She said there was a lot of background noise but she was just glad to finally hear for him. :)
My husband and I each got a call today from our SR. He is in Div 081, ship 13. We each talked 10-15 minutes. He sounded great and said that he was in the "push" group. We should be able find him easily in PIR since he is tallest in DIV. Unfortunately he said that he is last in line to eat and usually ends up with only 6 minutes to finish his food! Btw, we did get his clearance info in on Thursday so maybe that is why he got to make the calls.
We got another call and a letter yesterday. I am a happy Navy Mom. She said she actually loves the food. She's a fruit and veggie fan and says there is always a lot to chose from. My Petty Officer son get home today for a visit. He's been in two years and 10 days. It will be great to see him. I am so happy that you all received calls also!
We were at the New Mexico Bowl yesterday watching one of our other boys and were surprised with a phone call! I think my husband and I about passed out! Our son loves the food too! Said he is doing good, wanted to know how is favorite sports teams were doing.
MomofSix, we used to live in New Mexico. My hubby grew up there, and all our kids were born there. My oldest lives there now. I miss it when it gets super cold up here. I'm glad you got your call. It helps bc go by faster.
RhodyAnchor: Write extra letters for a while, with lots of encouragement. Bootcamp is emotionally up and down....he will have some good days, then bad, then good. Support from home is what fuels them so you really can't write too often!
RhodyAnchor: Sounds like you are doing everything right! When the divisions get to call, some are having a bad day, some maybe not. But I know it breaks our hearts when we hear from them and they are sad at that moment. It has been 5 yrs since my son was in Bootcamp....I was lucky in that I didn't miss one of his calls....and most times, he was in good spirits....but his voice cracked one time and it was hard! Just know that on PIR Day, you will realize all they went through was worth it! That is quite a ceremony!
coachjb: What division is your SR in? Divisions call at different times. Calls are pretty much random. Even if a family member is told by the SR that he/she will call again on (date), they can lose that call (as a division or individually) or have it changed---they can also earn calls. Best advice is to keep your phone glued to you during Bootcamp.
My son called Saturday and we were able to talk for 20 minutes. He sounded good. It's not all rainbows and sunshine but he's doing a lot better than I thought he would. He told me I made him tear up with our first call so I kept this long one happy and cheerful and asked him who his buddies were and if he needed more band aids and mole skin. He said no to the mole skin because he said his boot were broken in. He did ask for more stamps...... I still haven't received a letter from him, but hey at least he is writing. He said the food is ok but they have the same thing everyday for breakfast. LOL. He also said if he scored a 5 on something he would get a candy bar and soda, I'm sure he'll score a 5.....just for that. I expected my son to be broken up and down but his calls are just the opposite which helps me tremendously!

Just confirmed our hotel reservations. We're staying at the Navy Lodge. That's one thing of my lost to do before the 30th.
Oh, and hubby RSVPed for Sarge's meet and greet too.
